To be so fed up amd disheartened with all the xenophobia

1000 replies

Nohqters · 04/08/2025 21:56

Honestly, I’m just feeling worn out and heartbroken lately. It seems like racism and xenophobia are becoming more and more mainstream again, wrapped up in the same tired scare stories, whether it’s splashed across a tabloid or coming straight out of Farage’s mouth. Then you see stupid threads on here about civil war trying to stir up more hate.

Even my own brother has started sounding like Tommy Robinson. Ten years ago, that would’ve been unthinkable. It’s like people have completely forgotten the lies we were sold during Brexit—by Farage, Tice and their crowd—and yet they’re still lapping up everything they say. No critical thought, just blind anger pointed in the wrong direction.
I’m so fed up with the endless nonsense about small boats, “white minorities,” and all the rest of it. It’s all designed to divide us, stoke hate, and distract from the real culprits—rubbish politicians, broken policies, and the ultra-wealthy hoarding resources while the rest of us struggle.

But instead of looking upwards, it’s always “blame Johnny Foreigner.” It’s exhausting, and frankly terrifying how quickly people fall for it.

Is anyone else feeling this? How are you managing conversations when even close family seem to be buying into this stuff? I’m trying to stay compassionate, but it’s getting harder to bite my tongue.

"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet". Changing its name won't change its form. Fascism.

Cringe, you will be singing Kumbaya my lord whilst sat in the in the street with a tambourine and big glass of Prosecco next 😁

Those pesky fascists ruin it all!!

It is indeed worrying that we have 80+ Sharia courts in the UK, influenced by actual fascist countries who stone women to death, etc.

Fascism is about intolerance. The irony is always lost on lefties. Disagree with them and out comes the box of tricks. 🥱

No fascism is not about "intolerance"; it's about authoritarianism and creeping dictatorship coupled with highly militarised societies and loss of freedom and democracy. It's a far right, ultranationalist movement, not, as you imply, ordinary people rejecting exactly those ideas that cause racism to flourish.

So disappointing that you don't know that and that you pour scorn on "lefties". The Nazis weren't "lefties", were they, nor are any of the authoritarian far right wing leaders and dictators currently gaining a real foothold across Europe.

I don’t go on SM. I think Farage is a fool who could lead the country into far right territory. I have no problem whatsoever with immigration.

What I do have a problem with is the way that people are made out to be reactionary idiots for worrying about ways in which the country has changed - dramatically in some areas - and told they are hateful racists.

There are very few problems with migrants from Hong Kong, mentioned above. We need people in this country, our birth rate is getting lower. I have no problem with immigration.

I have a problem with men coming in from cultures where women are treated badly routinely, men who see white girls as fair game. I have a problem with legal immigrants whose grooming gangs activity is covered up because local authorities don’t want to be called racist. I have a problem with people dumbing this down as “you know white men rape too?”, and yes I know, and yes I have a huge problem with rape/assault wherever it comes from, but when women and girls are being affected yet again and ignored because people would rather assume they are liars and racist to boot.

I know someone who lives near a migrant hotel. It’s no longer safe for her daughters to go out to meet their friends because groups of men hang around, video them, threaten them, throw things at them, and it’s become a really unsafe place to be. This family can do nothing about this because when they and other locals have tried they’ve received the same treatment as people on threads like this. They’re made out to be thicko racists.

I know someone who escaped from her violent husband with two young daughters. She was placed in a council house in Bradford. Her daughters were targeted by Pakistani Muslim men on the same estate. They were part of the cover up that happened for decades in various parts of the UK. They reported to police, social services, their gp, their MP at the time, none took her seriously. Most implied she was racist. She and her daughters ended up recluses in the house until she managed to move a few years later.

These are real people affected by the decision to allow men from cultures that typically disrespect women and see them as worthless to be prioritised over them. Thinking this is a poor decision does not make someone racist.

As someone said on another thread, we have our own homegrown rapists that the police and courts prioritise, why allow other men from cultures with far worse track records than ours to stay in the country? This is nothing to do with their skin colour, and everything to do with their behaviour which is hushed up and the victims called racist. It’s horrific.

The left attitude towards women is disgusting. They don’t care, and would rather virtue signal than take any action that would result in better safeguarding and protection for women and children. Instead we have a party that still insists men can be women, and swears blind that these men are safe, despite years of their information not being recorded accurately by the police and other orgs in case someone turned round and <<shock horror >> called them racist.

The very reason this country has become more racist is because of this, and because of the belittling way people are spoken down to. The left have chased people into Farage’s open arms. They’ve literally created Farage’s current position for him, and opportunist that he is, he’s jumped straight into the role.

Well said 👏 you can see how the Rotheram girls were let down. It's playing out on this thread.

Also Anyone that resorts to name calling looses whatever argument they are in be that left/ right or in the middle. No one influences or changes someones mind by insulting them because they do not think like them. The issue is here and something needs to be addressed and sensible solutions considered.

Nope. I've given a brief outline of what fascism actually is, as opposed to your description which was incorrect and facile. I'm sorry if you have trouble understanding but it's pretty disgraceful to see you here defending literal Nazi ideology.

You can usually spot them, with balaclavas and black face covering with banners saying "xenophobes" , "Rasists". frothing at the mouth when
Farage is mentioned.

On Sunday afternoons they are usually drinking skinny oat milk lates with prosecco flavoured nut and salad boxes, painting their banners with kids crayons and self fladulating.

Mondays they are usually scoffing at white people and telling them they have betrayed the country and should be ashamed of their history and they are all racists and scum. 😂

Religious councils are nothing new in the UK. Yes they can be problematic; religion is generally patriarchal and certainly not run in women's interests. But scaremongering about councils that have existed in the UK for four decades needs to be challenged. I'd say the same if you came on here moaning about the threat posed by the Beth Din.

Please can you tell me which other religions have 80+ courts operating outside of our legal system? And also which religion is the most patriarchal, given Islamic countries are by far the worst for human rights abuses and terrifying misogyny?

I'm sad for you that you're having difficulty thinking but that is exactly the problem - avid consumers of social media tend to lack the ability to articulate, to focus for any length of time and to critically analyse concepts. As you've proved so neatly, today's bigots are sure that really complex issues can be distilled into hackneyed sound bites.

Screamingabdabz · 04/08/2025 23:14

What is disheartening and depressing is to live in areas where the policies of unfettered mass immigration prove to be problematic and people are called bigots and racists for even speaking about it. Where will you allow people to talk about their frustrations and their concerns op?

You think you’re clever, and your bleeding heart is a sign of your moral superiority, but you fail to see that this stifling of people’s anxieties is exactly what sends them into the arms of Farage et al.

These people don’t just wake up and decide to irrationally hate immigrants. They look at their poor quality of life and question why. Not being listened to and told to stfu is a massive lever for stoking the fires of disunity. So whilst you’re smugly blaming the right wing parties, and the gutter press, and the social media extremists, take a long hard look at your own culpability in all of that.
