To be so fed up amd disheartened with all the xenophobia

1000 replies

Nohqters · 04/08/2025 21:56

Honestly, I’m just feeling worn out and heartbroken lately. It seems like racism and xenophobia are becoming more and more mainstream again, wrapped up in the same tired scare stories, whether it’s splashed across a tabloid or coming straight out of Farage’s mouth. Then you see stupid threads on here about civil war trying to stir up more hate.

Even my own brother has started sounding like Tommy Robinson. Ten years ago, that would’ve been unthinkable. It’s like people have completely forgotten the lies we were sold during Brexit—by Farage, Tice and their crowd—and yet they’re still lapping up everything they say. No critical thought, just blind anger pointed in the wrong direction.
I’m so fed up with the endless nonsense about small boats, “white minorities,” and all the rest of it. It’s all designed to divide us, stoke hate, and distract from the real culprits—rubbish politicians, broken policies, and the ultra-wealthy hoarding resources while the rest of us struggle.

But instead of looking upwards, it’s always “blame Johnny Foreigner.” It’s exhausting, and frankly terrifying how quickly people fall for it.

Is anyone else feeling this? How are you managing conversations when even close family seem to be buying into this stuff? I’m trying to stay compassionate, but it’s getting harder to bite my tongue.

This article is horrific. That poor poor girl.

‘Government surveys reveal grim realities: the Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey (PDHS) reported that 47 per cent of respondents in 2012–2013 considered wife-beating justifiable — a figure that only slightly declined to 43pc by 2017–2018. The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) 2023 data paints an even darker picture, showing that 85pc of married women in Pakistan experience physical or sexual violence — far higher than Bangladesh’s 53pc and India’s 29pc.

Islamabad-based gender and governance expert Fauzia Yazdani highlights how religious texts and traditions are often deliberately misinterpreted to justify abuse. Supporting Yazdani’s view, lawyer Bushra notes that women brave enough to seek justice frequently face defence attorneys citing selective Quranic verses to defend their husbands. “It’s not just disturbing — it’s deeply problematic,” Bushra said.‘

Marital rape: Why Shanti’s case is a test for Pakistan’s justice system

This is the story of Shanti: a young bride whose death from marital rape reveals how Pakistan’s women remain unprotected by both society and state, despite the law.

Sorry that was for @ForWittyTealOP

i’ve got a degree. I’ve done asylum pro bono work. I’ve had good experiences, but I’ve also had some pretty bad ones. I’m not painting all immigrant males as animalistic. But I have personally met some problematic ones.

Watermelonnice · 05/08/2025 13:02

I wish people on here would honestly answer your questions, which are explained clearly, instead of assassinating your character to deflect their discomfort in realising you are right and they are wrong.

It seems be kind does not extend to uk born white men. (They will end up tying themselves in knots trying to justify their reasoning).

Thank goodness most of the uk population (including legal immigrants who work hard and integrate ) are waking up to the ridiculous situation we now find ourselves in.

The virtue signalling, naivety, white self-loathing and hypocrisy on here is on another level seriously.

"White self-loathing" 🤣 where's the laugh reaction when you need it? Are you that sure of your own intellectual superiority that you think nobody can see you using that nonsense term as a smokescreen for skin colour based racism?

Reddors · 05/08/2025 13:08

2 immigrants arrived in the country and kidnapped and raped a 12 year old girl. These scum should not be allowed in the country. Find somewhere else you cretins

matresense · 05/08/2025 13:08

Point being, I haven’t just read a couple of articles in the Daily Mail. I’m not a gammon, or whatever you want to call me.

DrPrunesqualer · 05/08/2025 13:09

Teanbiscuits33 · 05/08/2025 12:56

The other thing I find really curious is, If the protests are not about race or nationality and are just about concern, why do so many go to the hotels waving union jacks and England flags? Just concerned aren’t you? It’s not about superiority, is it?

And why have 40 odd percent of those very protesters got convictions for battering women if they’re so concerned about women and girls safety?

And why do they only protest in the summer? The rest of the year a bit nippy for em? 😂 can’t give that much of a shit, can they?

And, instead of protesting outside hotels, if you’re that concerned why don’t you do something more productive, like ask those in the know without bringing race into it? Let me guess, you think they’d lie to you 😩 and if you did it that way, there would be no excuse to be angry and violent.

Where did you read 40% of the protestors have convictions for battering women. ?

skymagentatwo · 05/08/2025 13:09

ForWittyTealOP · 05/08/2025 13:05

Still cute that you can look at the conviction rates and fondly imagine there's some kind of register of UK born male rapists. Hooray! We can all sleep safely in our beds!

No need to CORRECt (sic) me; I'm relatively well educated so I'd say that in fact, reading and understanding are very much strong points of mine.

"I'm relatively well educated" but yet you confuse most and all. You also claim to know what I have been looking at when i have never even stated as such.

You have a unique ability to make up your own narrative and read things that are not there, Thats calls delusional.

Powersout · 05/08/2025 13:09

The erosion of white working class culture in this country is real. Many people feel they don't have a voice and when they try and complain about what they are seeing happen to them and their communities they get labelled 'racist'. Many people on this site don't have a clue what's happening in working class communities across the country. It's driving people to seek an alternative via far right politics.

goldenquestion · 05/08/2025 13:10

skymagentatwo · 05/08/2025 12:52

Why when do these types of men get dumped into communities en mass and with over represented numbers with no jobs and not allowed to work of full fill their time.

Apples and oranges and you know it.

Edited

You didn't mention a lack of things to fill their time, you said their country of birth determined their desire to rape.

So unemployed ugly men then. Apples & apples.

Grammarnut · 05/08/2025 13:10

Factually, white caucasians are c.10% of earth's population. I don't think either racism of xenophobia has increased and compared to my childhood the amount is now miniscule, except in one respect: anti-Semitism, which I strongly deplore. Certainly, as the parent of dual heritage DC, racism worries me a lot, but I do not find it pervasive - and I look for it and recognise it in its many guises.
Misinformation and also the hiding of information both play into conspiracy theories, however, and this is how Nazism started. Honesty about asylum seekers who come by boat, many of them young men, would help a great deal as would dealing with their claims in an expeditious and open manner. Any sensible country has an immigration policy and removes illegal immigrants if they can be found to have no good reason to be here.

Meanwhile, I am a Brexiteer and did not listen to Farage (who I distrust as a rightwinger) but voted according to my conscience and my desire for sovereignty. I did hear a great many lies, mainly from Remainers, however.

Another liar. 🙄

ForWittyTealOP · 05/08/2025 12:50

And that equates to raping women because they have nobody to have sex with? No. That's racist and it's using the dire, and oft-ignored plight of Afghan women to support racist ideology and rhetoric.

That's not what I'm saying and you know it. I'm talking about the lack of respect that many men from certain countries have for women due to being brainwashed by their religion. And before you feel the need to mention it, I know many western men have no respect for women but unfortunately we're stuck with them.

loulouljh · 05/08/2025 13:16

if we didn't have rapes of 12 year olds by illegal migrants then maybe this would not be an issue.

D23456789 · 05/08/2025 13:16

Its very upsetting to see a thread descend into insults like this. The issues of violence against women and children needs discussion and clearly this is not the place for that. I live in a town where crime and anti social behaviour has escalated to a level that I have never ever seen before. I think there are multiple factors for this but nevertheless it feels less and less safe for me and my daughters. My female elderly relative was attacked in broad daylight; she was hospitalised and survived but now can no longer leave the house. We are on a waiting list for court so I can't say anymore. The other day I was verbally abused just walking along my road and my daughter and others had to be locked into a shop during an incident outside. Only last weekend we nearly got mown down by a driver who thought nothing about driving at speed close to where we were walking. We were inches away from being struck. We reported to the police but there has been no acknowledgement. Many of these incidents do not get into the news but locals like me are living through this crimewave and its having a big affect on our wellbeing and sense of safety.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 05/08/2025 13:17

All of a sudden collecting data about the ethnicity of offenders becomes racist when routinely collecting data about ethnicity from filling in Government forms to surveys has been going on for decades.

I don't know it at all. I can only take you at face value, based on what you've written.

Many people on this site don't have a clue what's happening in working class communities across the country

Many people on this site also assume anyone who doesn't demonise refugees are "middle class suburb dwellers" as well, failing to understand that you can come from/live in working class communities and not see all refugees/people who aren't white as a threat.

FreezeDriedStrawberries · 05/08/2025 12:47

The problem is many (not all) of those men have no respect for women
The same can be said about white men though.
You never usually see riots outside hostels if one white man who lives there commits a crime.
Because people don't hold all white people collective guilty/thought of as criminals just because of the colour of their skin.

Whataboutism just isn’t a valid answer.

I just got my phone stolen on the street!
yes, but what about when you took that lipstick from Woolworths when you were out shopping with Chloe!

umm..
