To be so fed up amd disheartened with all the xenophobia

1000 replies

Nohqters · 04/08/2025 21:56

Honestly, I’m just feeling worn out and heartbroken lately. It seems like racism and xenophobia are becoming more and more mainstream again, wrapped up in the same tired scare stories, whether it’s splashed across a tabloid or coming straight out of Farage’s mouth. Then you see stupid threads on here about civil war trying to stir up more hate.

Even my own brother has started sounding like Tommy Robinson. Ten years ago, that would’ve been unthinkable. It’s like people have completely forgotten the lies we were sold during Brexit—by Farage, Tice and their crowd—and yet they’re still lapping up everything they say. No critical thought, just blind anger pointed in the wrong direction.
I’m so fed up with the endless nonsense about small boats, “white minorities,” and all the rest of it. It’s all designed to divide us, stoke hate, and distract from the real culprits—rubbish politicians, broken policies, and the ultra-wealthy hoarding resources while the rest of us struggle.

But instead of looking upwards, it’s always “blame Johnny Foreigner.” It’s exhausting, and frankly terrifying how quickly people fall for it.

Is anyone else feeling this? How are you managing conversations when even close family seem to be buying into this stuff? I’m trying to stay compassionate, but it’s getting harder to bite my tongue.

Sorry i was not asking you, but your post to me does not fit the definition of explain though!

I don't give two fucks what you think.
I know the fuckwits that populate the extreme far right I've met them fuck I'm ashamed to say I was one of them.

There's a hotel not far from where I live that has been used to house asylum seekers for the last few years. Up until recently it's been families but some single men have now been housed there. Women and children living at the hotel have been assaulted so guess what the plan is - move the families out and house all single men there.

Why should the families suffer? Why should the local residents have to put up with these men who clearly have no respect for anyone, especially women and girls? Thankfully the local MP and council are doing what they can to oppose the change but I'm not optimistic

It's always the women and children, who suffer. We are told the men go back for the women, after they have made the crossing to get here. That delusion gives you an idea of why some of the violent 'visitors' will always be protected.

So what changed your mind?

ETA: aside from the one comment about burning hotels down?

It's interesting to hear your perspective and insight, and that you've changed your views since.
What made you change your mind? Sorry if that sounds totally nosey, you don't have to answer of course, I just find it interesting!

You never hear people complaining about British people moving to parts of Spain and sticking with their own there and not learning Spanish. It's OK when we do it in a foreign country but God forbid any foreigners who do it here, pure hypocrisy

Spain has immigration and housing and social welfare problem with boat arriving immigrants …. Not British immigrants.

There are tent cities, squatters and people living on the streets. Some begging, and others mugging.

Im sure some Spanish people love the new arrivals, but equally, many don’t.

You lose credibility suggesting that the British in Spain are there as asylum seekers, refugees.

Absentmindedsmile · 05/08/2025 10:13

Also @Brendahollowayreconsider what does ‘extreme far right’ mean these days, to you?

Why don’t we just tag all males in this country? Place them under curfew. Would reduce crime dramatically.

Does that include all the dinghy bros?

Sorry to burst your bubble but your self righteous denunciation of your past is just waffle and hot air

It's actually really interesting and definitely part of the discussion/thread.
Dismissing every opinion you don't like with comments about oat milk latte etc says a lot more about you than you realise.

According to the Telegraph just ahead of the women's football final, the Spanish are a bit mystified by the British, but they arrive legally, buy or rent homes, have medical insurance and generally pay their way.

Most of the original EU countries are losing patience with migrants, unless they arrive legally with visas and jobs.

I'm amazed that we are called racists, at the drop of a hat. MN doesn't provide a platform for racists. I think I will carry on holding my views, within talk guidelines.

That it was pureil way of thinking to hate people on their religion or ethnicity it accomplished nothing.
Also some very strange characters, the NF organiser liked to spend time with teen skinheads oh and he got busted with child abuse magazines.
I was shown photos of a rock against communism rally..there were grown men dressed as Nazi brown shirts and some as Hitler.. fucking weirdos.

They don’t ’go back’ for the women as in cross the channel again, they apply for them to come over after they have refugee status, and the women stay. The reason the women and kids stay behind is because

  1. the journey is perilous so the men do it so the women and kids can come over safely after the men are settled, and

  2. women and kids are at risk of being trafficked, so it’s safer for them to stay behind initially for that reason.

Did you think they did two journeys in boats?

I think you cannot spot the irony, Im treating all the vocal left wing posters whom insist on sticking labels on every opposing view in the same indination and joke they are.

If you and your little squad would like to be taken more seriously learn to have civilised conversation without calling everyone racist, fascist, thick, uneducated ect. Until that point I will treat you all like the silly children you are acting throwing names around. Comprende?

So, by your logic, their country is so perilous (not to mention misogynistic) that they are forced to flee, yet their wife and kids remaining there exposed with no male protector for 2 years while they leg it and loiter in a hotel getting paperwork sorted is perfectly fine?

Teanbiscuits33 · 05/08/2025 10:24

Dangermoo · 05/08/2025 10:20

Thanks for reaffirming my original.point, about delusion.

So, you want us to have respectful debate and say that calling you stupid, racist etc achieves nothing - which is correct I take that point, but as soon as I say something sensible that you don’t want to hear that goes against your existing beliefs, you shut it down and call me deluded. It’s not really a wonder people get frustrated. It’s pointless. There’s something more fruitful to be had out of banging one’s head against a brick wall.
