I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and I wonder if others feel the same. With everything going on, from the arrival of illegal migrants in small boats to a government that seems powerless, and with Farage gaining popularity because people are fed up, it feels like tension is rising across the country.

People are frustrated. You try to raise concerns and are instantly labelled a racist or bigot, even when your worries are about integration, safety, and national identity, not race. It feels like any honest conversation is being shut down.

There are parts of the UK where people who were born and raised here no longer feel at home. In some areas, if you are not part of the dominant local community, you can feel completely out of place or even unsafe walking alone at night. That is not right in your own country.

It is not just about people coming from Muslim-majority countries or those arriving illegally. There are also large numbers of Eastern Europeans, including Bulgarians, Romanians, and Russians. Many work hard and contribute, but there are also communities forming where people keep to themselves, speak no English, and make no effort to integrate. Some of these areas are experiencing rising antisocial behaviour, crime, and a breakdown of community life.

You can find videos online showing the state of some of these areas, with rubbish piling up, people ignoring the rules, and no sign of enforcement. It looks lawless, and it often is. But speaking about it honestly is considered of limits.

I live next to a Muslim family and they are wonderful people. Friendly, respectful, hardworking. So this is not about judging individuals. This is about a wider pattern where people are arriving, not integrating, and changing the fabric of our country in ways no one voted for.

We are a Christian country with our own traditions, values, and way of life. Why is it seen as wrong to want to preserve that? If we moved to Saudi Arabia, Bulgaria, or Russia, we would be expected to adapt to their culture. So why is it unacceptable to ask the same here?

The anger and division in this country are growing. I do not want unrest or conflict, but I cannot ignore what feels like a serious shift. When ordinary people feel ignored for too long, things eventually boil over.

Is anyone else feeling this? Or are we just not allowed to talk about it anymore?

Might be worth a try in the morning?

Shops saying “no English”.

Sure Jan.

My mum recently popped in to a Halal grocers in Salem, Oldham. The shop was empty. She went to the till to pay and the youngish bloke behind the counter ignored her until she gave up and left. I said she should have taken her shopping with her, but she left it on the counter. Do you not believe that happened either?

Yes, I’ve experienced this first hand. There’s a small town not far from where I live that I visit fairly regularly, and the situation there is quite different from what you describe. The area has a large population of Russians, Bulgarians, and Muslims, and there are even shops with signs in the windows that say 'no English.' This isn’t something I’ve picked up from social media it’s what I’ve seen for myself.

So yes, I have experienced it, and honestly, it isn’t a pleasant situation. I just wish everyone could get on!

Edited

A sign in shops in England that say 'no English?' Imagine if shops owned by English people had signs stating no African, Romanian, Polish, Asians were allowed. The world has gone crazy.

What is this question in reference to?

You going on about your kids being 'the only white kids' in their school. Why does that matter to you so much?

AWitchCalledMeg · 04/08/2025 22:30

Over40Overdating · 04/08/2025 22:16

I should @AWitchCalledMeg. My internet history would have your hair standing on end. Delia, Nigella, James Martin - the things I’ve learned! I’ll be dragged away from my seasoning cupboard kicking and screaming. I’ll rid this country of chicken nuggets and biege food, so help me Jamie Oliver.

That's reassuring, sounded for a minute like you were sat there rubbing your hands together and salivating over dreams of a white minority Britain.

I did think Delia and Nigella's fodder might be a tad bland for your superior taste buds though. Thank you for inventing seasoning.

Definitely. I think they need to review the guidelines too.

@pointythings the hefty legs brigade is going to be the cornerstone unit of the resistance/invasion, I can feel it.

Actually OP, unlike some other previous posters, I don’t think you do need to take your tin hat off. Until yesterday, I thought the whole idea was totally ridiculous but in the last 24 hours, it transpires that two large hotels in the very rural area I live are being sold off to house illegal immigrants, 10 houses have been bought in the local town for the same purpose, and my cash strapped council are recruiting for a refugee resettlement officer. On top of that, anyone who listened to Jeremy Vine today on ID cards can hear how polarised the debate has become. I don’t think it is beyond the realms of possibility.

You… you don’t feel a CIVIL WAR is beyond the realms of possibility? I’ve got to ask again: between whom??!

Well given OP hasn't come back to the thread, it is likely that it is a load of bollocks.

We've had zero evidence that this has actually happened. The poster who originally mentioned it won't name the town - probably because it's made up.

Mygosh · 04/08/2025 22:12

Ah well, ONLY 377 people raped or assaulted, bloody hell! You can try to make it sound acceptable but it's not, is it. I'm in no way against immigration but anyone committing crimes should be immediately sent back.

It's not ONLY 377 people. Over 70,000 rapes reported in 2024!!! -and many don't get reported..But it doesn't attract the same outrage when someone's partner or ex rapes them: a much commoner danger (though possibly less likely to result in a conviction)..

Yes, migrants who commit serious crimes should be deported. This doesn't excuse the actions of violent racist thugs, who unfortunately can't be deported,

Pistachiocake · 04/08/2025 22:31

Honestly I feel sick reading about the teenage boy that was was stamped on and punched to death FOR NO REASON-he was a random stranger-by a group. I'm sick of people telling me to be careful of my daughter and that my son is not at risk (yes, he's younger than this poor lad now, but obviously all our kids will grow up and be out alone). Similar things have happened near me, but not made national news because the victim didn't die-it's awful that young girls and boys are attacking strangers for no reason.
How is this related to your question, OP? Because I'm more worried about the awful things already happening, I'm not actually concerned about civil war but agree people are awful to each other.

Also the young black man who was stabbed in Cambridge on Friday. Two white British men have been arrested. Nobody is yelling about it - I wonder why?

Extravirginolive · 04/08/2025 22:33

I know David Betz, he is a very well respected war professor in the worlds best war studies department.

Once you read the treatment of thousands of working class girls by rape gangs and their explicit language around their race motivation you can't actually close your mind to it again.

The protection the perpetrators were given by the public sector is absolutely depraved and is impossible to reconcile with.

Rape is a weapon of war but so many people just don't care about it happening here.

This is what's driving the social media anger. It's not going to go away.

Over40Overdating · 04/08/2025 22:33

@AWitchCalledMeg you can thank the many colonised indigenous people who were pillaged in the name of empire for seasoning. Can’t take the credit on that!

I’m just here to rid you of chicken nuggets and national identity 🥰

Maybe we should follow your suggestion and start a thread on Site Stuff.

This is an anonymous forum, and every single user is presumed to be posting in good faith.

There will, considering this premise, be anonymous users that seek to take advantage of this on the great many current and political threads on this website. So I think great value is to be taken from users that one recognises ie @Blossomtoes and the other, less known users such as most of those that start and contribute to these threads less so.

@Over40Overdating love a punchy salad but you lost me at the tofu, I can butterfly a lamb leg I got 75% off in Aldi and marinaded in some lovely middle eastern spices ? Pop it up to the front in a nice middle aisle wheeled cool bag ?

Gotta watch your back in those foreign supermarkets tho 😉

AWitchCalledMeg · 04/08/2025 22:35

I guess I've been missing the point, any negatives of immigration are neutralised by the invention of spices apparently.

Dymaxion · 04/08/2025 22:36

Rustle up some nice lentil wraps , low carb and less likely to spike blood sugars, which looking at our lads doing battle, would probably be beneficial.

Imagine shops or hotels or BnBs owned by English people saying things like ‘No blacks, no dogs, no irish’
That would never happen!

Far more likely the forrins in nameless towns have signs saying No English. Totally believable.
