To think we need more programmes like The Littlest Hobo

Dont you think that bringing back The Littlest Hobo, Happy Days and The Wonder Years etc (but only in their original ways, no modern interpretations) would help heal the world? Just some wholesome, family escapism (even if you you cry a bit when the dog keeps moving on).

Bread and Circuses anyone?

Bread and Circuses anyone?

Never heard of it. 🤣

I've found myself gravitating back to Malcolm in the Middle - maybe not quite as wholesome but definitely a solid family drama without a pitch to sell. Although I watched this first as a teen when Lois was a dragon but now I see the legend. 😁

No because I hated the Littlest Hobo. It always meant the school holidays and that there was no Blue Peter or any of the other programmes I liked, just shit like the Littlest Hobo or even worse Gentle Ben. Not proper TV like Rentaghost.

Thegreyhound · 02/08/2025 11:44

Best theme tune ever. Theme tune way better than the actual programme

Every stop I make, I make a new friend.
Cant stay for long, just turn around and I'm gone again.

BeagleHound1 · 02/08/2025 11:55

Agreed! Watched the Love Bug last night too.

Not a fan then? 😀

I rewatch little house and the Waltons regularly, takes me back to childhood weekends

mbosnz · 02/08/2025 11:59

Yes to The Littlest Hobo! And Gentle Ben! And Happy Days! (Watched Happy Days with my girls when they were little, they loved it so much. And made sure they knew the Littlest Hobo them. . .'there's a voice, keeps on calling me, down the road, that's where I'll always be. . .')

The Greatest American Hero, too!

Netflix are making a new version of Little House on the Prairie that's going to be more real to the actual books.
I am very excited about that.
Love the books - hate the 70s TV version.

DiscoBob · 02/08/2025 12:05

I loved Littlest hobo. I had a toy dog that looked a bit like him.
Happy days was utter cack though. The Fonz was really a bit predatory and weird wasn't he? And the female characters were lame.

I was just coming on here to say something similar but then you spoiled it with "Rentaghost."

Yes, Littlest Hobo, even for child me = low budget import on horrible videotape with asinine saccharine storylines and no relevance to my life. It was basically The Incredible Hulk but with a dog and no changing into the Incredible Hulk

Lonelycrab · 02/08/2025 12:29

Maybe tmro ill wanna settle down🎶
Until tmro.. I’ll just keep movie’ onnn🎶

Ageee about the actual show being a bit rubbish though…

Loved Rentaghost! Absolutely nonsense and probably infuriatingly annoying as an adult.

We’ve been rewatching Little House on the Prairie with our DCs. It’s fantastic!

The Waltons were on before church. "Goodnight Jonboy" meant "time for church" so bad associations here! 🤣

Little House always made me feel uncomfortable for some reason. It always felt "off".

The theme tune to The Littlest Hobo!

WeirdANDSadTimes · 02/08/2025 13:02

just leaving this here..,

They love the laughter and they love the living, the Moomins.
Believing, and sharing, and caring, and giving, the Moomins.
They’re always happy and always at play, the Moomins are having fun day after day, the Moomins, the Moomins.

mostlylovinglife · 02/08/2025 13:07

Ah I can still remember the theme song from littlest hobo, lovely wholesome memories.

ChaToilLeam · 02/08/2025 13:12

Oh no, I found it so terribly boring! I liked Magpie, and Rentaghost (with the original characters, not later on), and The Tomorrow People. Even as a child I hated heartwarming, wholesome programmes.

MrsSkylerWhite · 02/08/2025 13:15

Bring back Rosie & Jim (only with John, though, and his two blue pens 😁)

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 02/08/2025 13:38

Does anyone else remember Champion the Wonder Horse?

I loved The Littlest Hobo.

Lonelycrab · 02/08/2025 14:05

Gentle Ben that was a classic.

Although dogtantian and the three muskehounds was probably my fave.
