To think we need more programmes like The Littlest Hobo

Dont you think that bringing back The Littlest Hobo, Happy Days and The Wonder Years etc (but only in their original ways, no modern interpretations) would help heal the world? Just some wholesome, family escapism (even if you you cry a bit when the dog keeps moving on).

I’d like something I can watch with my kids that none of us will squirm with awkwardness at. I don’t want to watch sex, nudity, long kisses, etc, when it does nothing to add to the plot. I’ll watch those things on my own happily. But with the kids? No.

Malcolm in the middle is fabulous. And I can’t wait for little house on the prairie!

Gentle Ben that was a classic.

Although dogtantian and the three muskehounds was probably my fave.

Almost all of Dogtanian is on Youtube.

DH and I had some happy evenings rewatching it.

I drove past them filming it once. 5 identical dogs waiting in the back of a pickup truck while the set up the cameras.

Iamtarticus · 02/08/2025 16:07

What about The Storyteller? 😂

Meem321 · 02/08/2025 16:09

Hunter's Gold

Just not The singing, Ringing Tree …. Good grief, what were they on? Terrifying.

The Waltons were on before church. "Goodnight Jonboy" meant "time for church" so bad associations here! 🤣

Little House always made me feel uncomfortable for some reason. It always felt "off".

We used to watch it Sunday after mass 😆 🤣

I'm guessing you mean Storybook International?

HelpMeGetThrough · 02/08/2025 16:16

Littlest Hobo was a shocker. God I’d forgotten about Gentle Ben, double shocking!!!

Happy Days was just shite.

HelpMeGetThrough · 02/08/2025 16:23

If you want to be reminded of 70s and 80s summer holidays…. Why Don’t You?

I think what we really need is good quality title sequences and theme tunes. I could still sing the Littlest Hobo and the Dogtanian theme tunes. (Dogtanian and the muskehounds had the best theme tune ever). Only yesterday someone mentioned Dolphins and I was thinking about the Flipper theme tune. I heard recently there was a new Captain Planet remake and ive gotten the theme tune stuck in my head since. There is something about music in childhood that stays with you.

Anyone else record the MacGyver theme tune onto a tape and then use it as backing track to outdoor games? 😂Preferably with static and a whisper telling your sister to shut up at the start?

There was a TV show about a guy with a beard who lived with a bear in a cave or something? Any recollection?. Also a TV show with Michael Landon where he was an angel who looked human and it was Heaven or something about Heaven. Both late 80s

Highway to heaven was the michael landon thing , was the bearded man one grizzly Adams?

Dontlletmedownbruce · 02/08/2025 16:42

@Member984815 yes and yes! Thanks. I could have just googled the Michael Gandon one but had forgotten Grizzly Adams altogether. I loved Highway to Heaven, it was probably shit but I loved it, I remember the opening sequence with the sun shining above the clouds.

Sometimes I get so nostalgic that I almost ache with it.
