Neighbour hoovers everyday

We live in a semi detached bungalow and our next door neighbour (single woman) hoovers every single day without fail. It only lasts 10-15 minutes and is usually in the evening around 6-7pm. AIBU to find it annoying? I can’t understand why someone would need to hoover that much unless they have kids or pets (she has neither)

Really?

YouWillFindMeInTheGarden · 22/07/2025 18:32

Nothing to get worked up about, it’s such a non issue

Hodgemollar · 22/07/2025 18:33

Yabu it’s completely normal household noise at a totally normal time.

Why does it bother you so much? She’s entitled to hoover as many times as she wishes

LaLaLandDreams · 22/07/2025 18:34

WTF?

Lazygardener · 22/07/2025 18:34

If she was vacuuming at 3 in the morning for an hour you would have a point. As it it, that is a strange thing to be annoyed about.

ilovesooty · 22/07/2025 18:34

What does her being a single woman have to do with anything?

Coffeeishot · 22/07/2025 18:35

I hoover downstairs every day it takes 10 minutes some people do, i dont know why it irritates you so much.

RightOnTheEdge · 22/07/2025 18:35

Yes, YABU.

vodkaredbullgirl · 22/07/2025 18:35

🤔

soupyspoon · 22/07/2025 18:35

Yep much less labour intensive than sweeping up. The floors have to be swept (if hard) or hoovered (if hard or carpeted) every day usually. Theres always some little crumbs or bits. If she wears shoes in the house then she will need to hoover every day probably.

I try to hoover the kitchen every day if I feel able.

Ilikewinter · 22/07/2025 18:36

🤣

Parker231 · 22/07/2025 18:36

I do a quick hoover every day and the cleaner a more thorough hoover twice a week. Seems normal to me.

cloudyblueglass · 22/07/2025 18:36

Daily hoover here - no carpets and multiple people and pets in house.

Sounds like she's doing The Organised Mum Method. Good for her. wish I'd stuck with it

AllHoityToity · 22/07/2025 18:37

She hoovers for fifteen minutes in the evening. That’s completely normal behaviour. I can’t believe you are monitoring her.

Glendaruel · 22/07/2025 18:37

I used to have a neighbour who was having a relationship with a lady in Thailand. I didnt know him except to say hi in the hall but I knew all about his relationship. The sound of hoovering sounds good in comparison

Coralight · 22/07/2025 18:37

I can’t imagine not hoovering every day. I have no pets and don’t have shoes on inside but I’ve hoovered most days for my whole adult life, even before kids. By the next day there’s already random bits of fluff and dust around and I like the look of it being freshly hoovered.

it’s fine not to of course but I think it’s a weird thing to be annoyed by.

castleclass · 22/07/2025 18:38

Just when I thought mumsnet had given us all it had…

K0OLA1D · 22/07/2025 18:38

YABU

Our hoover goes multiple times a day, everyday.

bellamorgan · 22/07/2025 18:38

This says more about you than her surely.

BlondieMuver · 22/07/2025 18:39

Why aren't you hoovering daily?

Parky04 · 22/07/2025 18:39

We have a rug in the lounge that requires hoovering every single day. I have no idea why it gets so filthy!

Coffeeishot · 22/07/2025 18:39

I do have a dog tbf he doesn't shed much but i do get bits on the floor with him coming in and out and my kitchen always seems crumby it is better to run round with the hoover daily than letting it build up.
