Neighbour hoovers everyday

paintthetown · 22/07/2025 18:30

We live in a semi detached bungalow and our next door neighbour (single woman) hoovers every single day without fail. It only lasts 10-15 minutes and is usually in the evening around 6-7pm. AIBU to find it annoying? I can’t understand why someone would need to hoover that much unless they have kids or pets (she has neither)

We hoover multiple times a day. Completely normal.

ImaginaryLobster · 22/07/2025 18:41

Maybe she has asthma, carpets can hold alot of dust and keeping on top of it could help

It’s really not

BlueyNeedsToFuckOff · 22/07/2025 18:44

YABU

It’s perfectly normal household noise and at a sensible time. I’m not seeing the issue

ExitPursuedByABare · 22/07/2025 18:45

How very dare she 🙄

TomatoSandwiches · 22/07/2025 18:47

Summin wrong with you for sure.

We hoover every day, what's the issue.
Waiting for the ' my batshit neighbour complains about my hoovering' post

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 22/07/2025 18:51

Many people do. Its really not unusual.
A quick once over every day means it doesn't get to the point where its a big job.

Bluevelvetsofa · 22/07/2025 18:51

It’s really not unusual to vacuum every day. I do upstairs or downstairs most days and sometimes, every day.

Daisymae55 · 22/07/2025 18:51

YABU. There’s many reasons she could be hoovering daily.

when I was early 20s living on my own I hoovered daily at a similar time. I was a freelance costume maker and had to hoover up the mess daily

paintthetown · 22/07/2025 18:54

Of course, I'm not keeping an eye on her. The walls are so thin and we’re usually sat in the living room while she does it. I don't know anyone who hoovers that often. We maintain a tidy home, but there's no need to vacuum daily surely. If people have carpets, they must be completely worn out.

YABU. That would be how I would hoover, given the choice. One room per day, including under furniture, tops of curtains etc.

Sounds ideal, and not very annoying if it's only 15 minutes.

SALaw · 22/07/2025 18:55

For a short time and at a reasonable hour - why so annoyed?!

Coffeeishot · 22/07/2025 18:56

Why would a carpet be worn out with daily hoovering ?

cloudydays2 · 22/07/2025 18:57

I hoover daily but I also have kids who leave crumbs everywhere and the best time for me is after bedtime.

I hoover everyday and during the holidays/weekend I hoover twice a day.

PinkyFlamingo · 22/07/2025 18:57

Weird

NuffSaidSam · 22/07/2025 18:59

OP, I say this with kindness, you need to get a life. Worrying about you neighbour hoovering for 15 mins a day is telling of an unfulfilled life. Maybe take up a hobby?

Maddy70 · 22/07/2025 18:59

Mine Hoover's at 8am every morning. I'm a little in awe of her

TimeForABreak4 · 22/07/2025 19:00

I didn't know people didn't hoover everyday, strange! Yabu.

Its how you keep carpets in good condition, remove the bits of dirt that are likely to fall down in between the fibres and wear out the carpet.

Its basic home maintenance.

Might be my mother she has hoovered and floors mopped before 9 am!

2 dc, 4 cats, dark rug and hard floors. We 100% need to hoover everyday or sometimes twice. Or it looks untidy very quickly
