Trans hate (I don't) and the same old, same old

1000 replies

RetiringRita · 14/07/2025 13:47

Well I've been on a few threads this weekend and the one that's been hijacked yet again was the question of trans hate on mumsnet.
The OP asked for opinions on whether that was a fair statement yet within minutes the question was ignored and the same FWR posters were out in force. They didn't want to answer the question so targeted their posts to state their agenda.

Sex as defined by The Surpreme Court ruling
TW perverts in women's prisons
TW perverts in female loos
Men in dresses
FTM having ASD or mental illness.

It appears those of us who sit on the fence are not entitled to be there. Those who cannot be bullied get shouted down.

I have been called the following :

Hand Maiden
Trans Ally
Not part of the sisterhood
Delusional
Captured
Shameful
Mentally ill
A liar (frequently)
A man

None apply to me.

Am I being unreasonable to ask for some understanding and compassion for trans people who don't fit the stereotypes listed?

Honestly, and with respect to your views, feelings and opinions….a trans woman is not in the same group as a man. You can certainly have an opinion that they are, and they are both men according to the law…but anyone with eyes can see they are a very different group of people.

Edited

If you cannot define what this difference is and you cannot provide a way for people to be able to identify who is and isn't in this "very different group of people", do you think that there is a significant issue?

What makes one group of male people not male like the rest of the population of male people?

If you cannot define a group, how do you protect the group?

Locutus2000 · 14/07/2025 14:01

You are definitely not being unreasonable - but must be aware you have started another AIBU which will be full of hatred for trans people.

Why is it deemed hatred because women want their own spaces?

Nobody has said they hate trans people.

Women just want our own spaces, just like men have.

Only men can be transwomen. So what changes to a man to make him a 'trans' woman?

Men cannot be trans women. Only trans women can be trans women

BMW6 · 14/07/2025 16:55

Celebrating a massive victory is not "gloating".

Where was your compassion for the women who were trolled, threatened, sacked?
For the women who have had their meetings invaded by TRA and been physically attacked BY MEN?

BuckaDuck · 14/07/2025 16:55

Tandora · 14/07/2025 16:52

Nope.

Just transwomen.

They should be allowed in women’s spaces because they are trans women.

Edited

And transwomen are male so not women so again why do you think males can access womens spaces?

BuckaDuck · 14/07/2025 16:56

Tandora · 14/07/2025 16:54

Men cannot be trans women. Only trans women can be trans women

Transwomen are men as men are adult human males and guess what Transwomen are also adult human males this does indeed make them men.

BMW6 · 14/07/2025 16:56

Tandora · 14/07/2025 16:54

But to be Trans they have to have been male to start (and stay as) 😂

Otherwise the "trans" is meaningless........

You don’t understand or recognise what being trans is.
That won’t change the fact that some people are trans I’m afraid.

thebear1 · 14/07/2025 16:51

Okay I'll rise. The gloating over the recent court ruling, that sex is biological. I do agree but can still show compassion for trans people upset by the ruling. I've seen parents of trans children told as if it is a fact not opinion that their child is mentally unwell. Also seen a discussion about if a trans actor can 'pass'. People rightly get jumped on when they comment on someone's appearance on other threads.

Why shouldn't women's rights campaigners and feminists celebrate getting clarity in the law?

Where have male people with transgender identities shown compassion in the public sphere for the needs of female people who need to have female single sex provisions? That seems to me to be double standards that you are applying there.

Cis women cannot be trans women no. The two are mutually exclusive terminologies.

I don't need to.

Transwomen are not women so all I need to know is that women's spaces remain exclusively female only.

Posts were deleted and those were just the ones people noticed in passing and could be bothered to flag up. News flash -unlike the anti trans obsessive take over mob most of us don’t sit on threads 24/7 which is what’s needed to report every offensive post. But however many there were is too many, there were some horrible posts on there.

If you want examples of real vitriol and hatred you need to visit TRA sites or just read their banners.

Menier · 14/07/2025 17:00

Tangfastic71 · 14/07/2025 16:41

Yes absolutely right, my mistake. Doesn’t change the outcome though or the fact we are no more protected today than we were before

Some men will continue to be violent towards women, probably forever sadly but the clarification enables women’s sex based rights to be upheld in law.
This means that for some specific women ( women in jail, in hospital, for example they are more protected, providing of course that the institution upholds the law.
Additionally I also believe that women who identify as men are more protected than prior to the clarification as they retain their sex based rights.
Plus the ruling was about protecting women’s sex based rights which is what it achieved.
Protecting women in general is something different although it’s a good starting point to be able to define, in law, what a woman is.

Trying to keep a straight face here but could you for instance see that lesbians are not in the same group as straight women? I think it’s quite fair to say that we could stop wasting each others time with the back and forth. I feel threatened by men who identify as men….i don’t feel threatened by men who identify as women. In more than 5 decades of lived experience my experience with both groups has led to one being wholly and entirely positive and the other being mired with violence, sexual assault and misogyny. You clearly have a different lived experience and I respect that wholeheartedly.

Edited

Your comparison between lesbians and straight women is actually a false one to how male people with transgender identities and those without are different.

No one denies that lesbians are female people and should be treated like other female people for the provision of single sex provisions and for most other aspects of life. Lesbians may choose to have spaces that heterosexual female people are excluded from for a small number of reasons.

Male people with a philosophical belief about their identity that does not reflect material reality of their sex are the same sex as all other male people.

The two groups are not comparable at all.

I would personally consider it to be anyone who was on HRT and no longer had a penis. Although to be fair, I’m very comfortable around all the trans people I’ve met (not a huge number to be fair but as a regular festival goer I’m not a stranger to most types of human)!

How do you know who has a penis and who doesn't?

Is Sarah Jane Baker someone you'd be comfortable sharing changing rooms with, to cite a well known activist who castrated himself in prison, and now claims to be a woman?
