Posting here because of the previous thread about thong bikinis. Now let me point out that in NO time in my life have I had the figure to wear a thong bikini. I have nothing against them but I do wonder what the appeal is. If you are proud of your body and want to show off as much of it as possible, I get that. I can also understand wearing thong knickers for the no line look. But why wear a thong bikini? Is it cooler (as in temperature)? If it more comfortable than a normal bikini? Is it easier to swim in? You want your fanny tanned? I am asking a sincere question.

Are you American OP? Because ‘fanny’ in the U.K. does not mean bottom/arse/ass!

I think you misinterpreted my post. I like the fact men don’t expose their arses on a beach, I’m not saying it’s unfair they don’t.

YANBU. I consider arses a private part of the body. I don't want to see anyone's arse in public, regardless of the shape or size of it. I'm aware that these days that makes me a prude, but not so long ago it was just common sense.

When I first started going abroad in my teens in the late 80s I saw quite a lot of men in thongs. Always middle aged, very tanned medallion men types, put me off them for life. I hate seeing butt cheeks on display, of any age or gender, but they do seem to be fashionable right now so I will just have to avert my gaze.

I used to wear a Brazilian bikini which showed a lot of bum cheek

To everyone saying 'things never look good' would you say the same to someone who's morbidly obese with cauliflower legs wearing a basic swim suit? You know full well that people can look good in thongs. You may not look good, but some people do with good figures.

note, it's only women who say they don't look good too. Funny that.

Er what? Have you heard the way men talk about women's bodies? They criticise everything while they think they look like some Adonis rather the the dollop of blamange they actually resemble.

I recently wore a Brazilian bikini every day for 2 weeks on a European holiday. The only negative snarls and one comment I had was from morbidly obese women.

yes I realise men speak badly about women all the time. But I've never experienced any negative comments from a man towards a woman wearing a Brazilian bikini. Just personal experience.

Also dollop of blamange made me laugh 🤣🤣🤣

I think it's mostly to have one's arse on display.
Not a criticism - get your bum out if you like. Wish mine was up to the task.
