Posting here because of the previous thread about thong bikinis. Now let me point out that in NO time in my life have I had the figure to wear a thong bikini. I have nothing against them but I do wonder what the appeal is. If you are proud of your body and want to show off as much of it as possible, I get that. I can also understand wearing thong knickers for the no line look. But why wear a thong bikini? Is it cooler (as in temperature)? If it more comfortable than a normal bikini? Is it easier to swim in? You want your fanny tanned? I am asking a sincere question.

I remember similar conversations when everyone started wearing a Wonderbra. Bottoms are in and that's all.

If it was a straight choice between a thong and nothing I'm going commando. And I'm as vanilla as you can get.

When I’m on holiday and want to show off a little I wear a thong bikini because I feel I have a nice bum and I am proud of my body. When I’m on holiday I tend to stay in adult resorts anyway. However I go swimming every week and always wear a regular bikini or swimsuit because I think there’s a time and a place for thong style bikinis and a public pool isn’t one. And also I don’t tend to wax or shave those areas unless I’m going on holiday. And a thong bikini would reveal far too much hair lol

the women on here clutching their pearls just don't like the fact their husbands are probably fapping over women in bikinis on the internet and take it out on folk with good figures and thong bikinis to make themselves feel better while they wear a tent to the beach

Probably the same reason they wear bikinis tops where half their boobs are hanging out, they like it.

Less anyone sees of my arse the better. When we were on holiday in May I saw a woman come from the beach, put on her totally see-through kaftan thing and then bend over to put her flip flops on. My eyes! Only a gynae needs a view like that.

I’m voluntarily single now. No husband or bloke to be getting arsey with (s’cuse the pun).

Personally I’d have no interest in random husbands ‘fapping’ over me in a thong bikini, they could be very unattractive, greasy, creepy slimeballs, they’re not all going to be gorgeous hunks salivating at the sight of your bare bum. I clutch my pearls with pride thank you very much.

If I’m on holiday with my DCs in a family resort where I know I’m going to be splashing about in the pool, going down water slides, running around on the beach with them etc, then I want full arse coverage.

Well not all of them but the ones I’ve been with on my holidays to Spain and Italy definitely do!

I feel so sad that people think it’s normal now to just put everything out there on show.

I’ve worn thong undies for about ten minutes and I was so conscious of them I went back to my big undies.

The pearl clutching about the swimmers I find ludicrous though. Every negative comment is something my grandma would have said about my tankinis in the 90, and what her grandmother would have said about her (quite full coverage) bikinis in the 60s.

Except of course that neither woman would have called another woman ‘skanky’ or similar, as they were not misogynists.

I don't think I'd wear one myself (opportunity would be nice, I don't get out much!) I do have Brazilian friends though who I know think our typical style of bikini is really weird, and told me they call them 'nappies' because that's what they look like! I guess it depends on what is your normal!

Yes but why is it always the women who are showing their bits? Guys my sons’ age group (twenties) wear swim shorts when they're on the beach, which practically go down to their knees.

I really trying to avoid this answer sounding sexist, but there’s a bit of a difference between a female bottom in a thong and a male one, they aren’t really designed to cover much to start with and do you really want to see not only hairy men’s arses but their bits barely held in by the strip at the front and dangling down as you view from behind.I mean if you do, fine, encourage men to wear them too
