Anyone else? I tuned in last night and couldn't believe how bad it was! 1975 was headlining and it was so middle or the road.

Maybe I'm getting old but the music was awful!!! So bland. Im early 40s 🤣

What are your thoughts?

You are naming a couple of bands. Glastonbury is an incredible experience with countless stages and tents many with unbelievable music and atmosphere

You have literally no idea what it's like from.watching one main stage band.

I've been about 20 times and barely seen anything on the pyramid stage

whynotwhatknot · 28/06/2025 15:19

Were En Vogue singing live?

I thought they were, until one of them started and the way she moving her mouth made me really not sure! If they were, they were amazing.

I doubt if they are the only act who is not singing live.

This is something I would require to be stated at the point of ticket purchase if any act is miming, by law. A statement you have to positively acknowledge. Or the gig/concert/festival is free. If you cannot sing live well enough, then don't sing live.

Ihateboris · 28/06/2025 15:21

It's a load of old shite

MauriceTheMussel · 28/06/2025 15:21

I don’t get the whole Matt Healy thing. Mate, your mum was on Corrie! That ain’t no sex, drugs, and rock’n’roll!

GanninHyem · 28/06/2025 15:26

Bob Vylan is excellent. Suspect MN is absolutely not his crowd though.

Alanis was great.

I also enjoyed Wet Leg and English Teacher.

Just watching English Teacher and will catch up on the other two later. Biffy Clyro are usually a good one to watch too

I have to say the lineup this year didn't enthuse me, though there are a few I would like to see, but the headliners for each night I'm a bit meh about tho

Birdsinginginthetrees · 28/06/2025 15:30

Ah, Glastonbury, the once great music festival now reduced to a sprawling swamp of political soapboxing and desperate self branding. What was once a celebration of sound and soul has morphed into an overpriced influencer farm, where sad people cosplay as activists between £12 smoothie breaks and TikTok reels of their recycled “vintage” outfits.
Forget the music, that’s just background noise to the real performance - moral grandstanding on stage and performative wokeness in the crowd. Every headliner now comes with a lecture, every stage a platform for world-saving platitudes from people who arrived by helicopter.
And the crowd? An Instagram feed of bucket hats, glitter, and fake spirituality. Everyone’s too busy trying to look effortlessly countercultural to notice the irony of paying hundreds to pretend they’re sticking it to the establishment.
Glastonbury used to be about escape. Now it’s all about image. Less rave, more rants. Less music, more manifestos. If you’re looking for joy, soul, or spontaneity — you might want to check literally anywhere else.

The thought of using those toilets ....

I heard on one of the shows on 6music that one family goes every year and their mum gets up early and cleans one of the loos for all her family to use!

I’d hate to be there! Opposite of fomo

JOMO joy of missing out! I get this a lot!

Au contraire - love Bob Vylan! And didn't expect to be impressed by Wet Leg but their lead singer has turned into an absolute powerhouse, great stage presence.

AmyDuPlantier · 28/06/2025 15:32

The 1975 are dreadful bland bollocks anyway though.

Self Esteem was fucking incredible, I thought.

AlwaysBeingMe · 28/06/2025 15:35

Yes, all rather disappointing so far...
If only the artists were as good as the BBC technical coverage.

My DH (who's from from Ireland) opinion on Kneecrap 😭 - derivative hip hop by cosplay terrorist sympathisers capitalising on the green pound/euro/dollar exploiting Oirish 'yoof' ignorance and plastic Paddies who conveniently forget the maiming and mutilation their "heroes" inflicted on the community they claimed to represent.

namechangeGOT · 28/06/2025 15:36

I can’t remember the last Glastonbury that was any good. But, Alanis was brilliant yesterday.

I guess being from Ireland doesn't make you an expert on Kneecap.

Bbq1 · 28/06/2025 15:41

The mediocre music st Glastonbury doesn't interest me in the slightest. Since when are bland pop bands/singers like The 1975 and Olivia Rodrigo headline acts? It's supposed to be a massive household name like Shirley Bassey, Elton John or GnR. Worse than usual

80smonster · 28/06/2025 15:41

Erm, is this based on what you can see on telly? I think there’s way more to Glasto than the music.

MoominUnderWater · 28/06/2025 15:42

First time I’m glad I’m not there. 😁😁

RunningBlueFox · 28/06/2025 15:44

CMAT, and Buster Rhymes were both fab yesterday. 1975 are not my cup of tea as I think Matty Healy is a toss pot but I'm in my early 50s so not his target market. I love the randomness of Glastonbury. People saying music isn't as good as it used to be be aware that statement ages you far worse than wrinkles and grey hair ever will 🤣. Challenge yourself to find something new. It's like Botox for your ears.

I'm Irish, and yes, the whole IRA cosplay thing is pathetic and tasteless. But I'm old enough to remember the reality of the Troubles & the IRA (and the loyalist paramilitaries too). I don't know why British commentators keep giving them the attention they crave though.

Scout2016 · 28/06/2025 15:47

I don't think most of it works live on telly, it sounds awful. I have a theory that they tinker with the sound for the "watch again" viewings, because to me 2 weeks later it somehow sounds much better. Still not great, but better. I might be fooling myself though.

Gloriia · 28/06/2025 15:48

DiamondThrone · 28/06/2025 14:58

It's lucky that singers in the punk era never swore, isn't it? 😉

Oh swearing is fine i do it myself but her songs literally were all fuck fuck fucking fuck. I don't get the acclaimed songwriter bit.

RaininSummer · 28/06/2025 15:48

Loved Alanis. Can't find Blossoms to watch sadly and apparently no Neil Young to see so, other than the lovely Rod Stewart, there's nothing I actually want to see but I will give bands new to me a 10 mins try each. Watching 1975 now but they are kinda tedious.

Neil has back down from his hissy fit and has graciously allowed the BBC to transmit him live tonight.

They should sell tickets via a ballot like they do for high interest football matches. You register that you want one by a deadline and then they do the rest at random on a set date. Maybe have a means of linking yourself to another person if you wouldn't go alone. Seems much fairer than who has the best Internet or knows ways round it tech wise.
