Anyone else? I tuned in last night and couldn't believe how bad it was! 1975 was headlining and it was so middle or the road.

Maybe I'm getting old but the music was awful!!! So bland. Im early 40s 🤣

What are your thoughts?

It hasn't really been the same since Emily took over, but then maybe I feel the way about Glastonbury now as older folk felt when my age group was attending regularly. We've seen some great acts there over the years, and for many years I couldn't watch it on tv because I missed being there. This is the first year that I haven't really felt that way.

Do the owners seriously think their 'the world shouldn't have borders' banners are a good idea when they are surrounded by a massive effect perimeter fence?!

It's a condition of their licence. I was there in 2000 when loads of people jumped the perimeter. It felt overcrowded to the point of dangerous. The perimeter fence is a sensible evolution for a festival the size of Glastonbury.

Last year was the first time I could watch it and my last one was 2010!

Yes I agree. Enjoyed En Vogue and was looking forward to Neil Young but his set isn't going to be televised apparently.

Just heard on the news that his set will be broadcast.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/06/2025 14:38

Alanis was great.

I also enjoyed Wet Leg and English Teacher.

Gloriia · 28/06/2025 14:30

Yes caught a bit of self esteem last night singing 'fuck fuck fuck fuck' on a loop <yes im an ole giffer>. Very talented songwriter..

I am 60ish and I love Self Esteem. Horses for courses.

Gloriia · 28/06/2025 14:39

'It's a condition of their licence. I was there in 2000 when loads of people jumped the perimeter. It felt overcrowded to the point of dangerous. The perimeter fence is a sensible evolution for a festival the size of Glastonbury.'

Of course it is a health and safety issue but can they really not see the irony of having banners saying no borders?! Oh hang on, health and safety and overcrowding issues must only apply to Tarquin & co at Glastonbury.

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 28/06/2025 14:40

Were En Vogue singing live?

I thought they were, until one of them started and the way she moving her mouth made me really not sure! If they were, they were amazing.

It's going to be streamed on BBC 2. Just announced.

SEPMum · 28/06/2025 14:41

I must be in the minority but I really enjoyed all of the coverage yesterday.

Even Self Esteem...though I don't entirely get them. I saw them live a few years ago and I thought they were like a Eurovision act. I still think that..
I do love that there's something for everyone at Glastonbury.
Looking forward to today.

PandoraSocks · 28/06/2025 14:41

Was Alanis definitely singing live? A couple of times I thought she might be miming. I hope not.

She is allegedly an acclaimed songwriter yet her songs consist of fuck fuck fuckity fuck.
Maybe a new style poet like The Matt Healy.

Kwean · 28/06/2025 14:41

Loyle Carner and CMAT were magnificent. Both genuis musicians and talented performers.

I love watching loads of different types of music that I wouldnt usually pick up on.

They don't, but never mind. You don't like her, I do.

The two things aren’t even vaguely similar

RabbitsRock · 28/06/2025 14:48

Have only seen a very brief clip but the show with the aerobatics etc looked really good

Abhannmor · 28/06/2025 14:50

Well it is Glasto. A nice familiar comfort blanket innit? People aren't splashing that kind of money to be challenged about anything. It was probably quite radical in
1970.

Laganlove · 28/06/2025 14:52

I’d hate to be there! Opposite of fomo

MauriceTheMussel · 28/06/2025 14:53

I remember being a little kid, car windows down on the way home from school and seeing all the hippies that had hitch-hiked in from god knows where to get to the Festival. It felt like something then.

Now all these celebrities helicopter in and people go en masse to the beautiful region and kind of treat it like a Disneyland. I can’t find the words, nor pinpoint my feeling, but.. it’s just not the vibe of Avalon. It’s a real place. Not a vacuum for people to go to for a few days and then shit on the countryside the rest of the time from their cosmopolitan pedestal.

CollaterlieSistersSister · 28/06/2025 14:54

Alanis was fantastic.

Great to see Lewis Capaldi back, got a bit emosh.

But mainly I’d have loved to have seen the Taskmaster live show.

KellyJonesLeatherTrousers · 28/06/2025 14:54

Agree the headliners this year are poor. But for me, Self Esteem more than made up for it, she was outstanding. Ooh and yes En Vogue were definitely miming at points in their set, very odd mix of live and mimed.

Pinkpupsx · 28/06/2025 14:56

The 1975 were so shit and Matt Healy is an utter tosspot. Lewis Capaldi on the other hand, what a legend. I feel emotional just thinking about how far he has come and what an unbelievable talent he is.

Wait, I thought that was my satellite connection/TV going wrong! Her lips weren't quite right, were they?

Anyway, I thought they looked great.

Mikart · 28/06/2025 14:57

I'm in my late 60s and am enjoying it. Wet Leg, Self Esteem, CMAT, Blossoms, Jarel Ngonga, Gracie Abrams, Inhaler and Franz Ferdinand....and that was just yesterday.
But we regularly go to gigs, arent stuck in 1979 and listen to new music

RampantIvy · 28/06/2025 14:57

Now when the Cure were on a few years ago, I was deeply envious of everyone that was there to experience them live.

That set was utterly brilliant wasn't it.
I thught the Pet Shop Boys were excellent as well.
