Hot weather.

Anyone else just want this hot weather to fuck right off? I've had enough of it already and apparently we're in for at least another 2 weeks of it. 🤬 I'm made out to be a killjoy when I say I'm not enjoying it. Does everyone else really love it,or are they just saying it for fear of being thought odd (like me!).

I love the weather right now! I think it can get too hot (summer 2022 was too hot at times for sure!!) but the weather in London now is perfect to me. The only thing I dislike is that it’s too hot for me to run in the day/early evenings.

Mymanyellow · 17/06/2025 19:24

People run at different temperatures though too I think. We'll have the have you got your heating on posts soon. Some will be freezing at 18 degrees.

mylurcheristhebest · 17/06/2025 18:36

Hate it, it’s too hot to do anything. I always think it’s much easier to warm up in winter than it is to cool down.

I find it harder to be comfortable in winter. There's usually one bit of my body that is freezing be it hands or nose or toes. And if you do manage to be warm outside by adding stupid amounts of clothing, it will be boiling the moment you get inside. I hate the faff of layers

In really hot weather over here it's boiling in the sun and warm everywhere else. You just get used to it.

Ihad2Strokes · 17/06/2025 18:17

Really? Bloody hell. I'd happily send you some heat/sun.

This temperature would have be ok for me prior to the strokes. But now I'm finding it hard to cope with.

Not helped by the fact my stoke affected side feels freezing cold. But I can't do anything to 'warm it up' as it just makes the rest of me hot enough to pass out.

can't take cool showers for the 'ok' side as the 'not ok side' is already hurting with 'the cold'

during the winter I thought summer would help...I was SO wrong. 🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️

I am enjoying the long light hours though 😊

Edited

I cant take cool showers as i only have a bath (social housing They refused to change it to a shower) so i have to keep filling the bath and sitting in it. Consequences! This place is a top floor one bedroom flat and its unbearable

Two things:

  • The UK's obesity rate is amongst the highest in Europe.
  • In areas close to Heathrow, climate change has seen noticeably higher temperatures recorded in the last decade

I'll leave it up to you all to decide if these two are correlated, so to speak.

Bullshit Ive been a size 28 and a size 12 I couldnt stand the heat both times

Theres always one!

JohnTheRevelator · 17/06/2025 19:21

Agree. I m not a fan of freezing cold weather, but as long as it's between 12 and 22 degrees,I'm happy. As you say,it's easier to warm up than to cool down.

I didn’t say that. Because (for me) it’s not. I am freezing and miserable all winter. Huddled under a heated blanket. Don’t want to leave the sofa where that is, never mind the house. A bit of sweatiness is really nothing (and menopause - even medicated - means my head literally runs with sweat).

I heard some commentators asking if "summer countries" had much slimmer people because they knew they would need to wear summer and light clothes for months, so they are more self conscious

while people from wet and grey countries like England have bigger people because they know they can hide most of the year.

That would be an interesting study!

The gaslighting over this issue really pisses me off We have had more heatwaves over the past decade than we have had snow

I dislike it as feel tired and sleepy - long for the freshness to return - 18 degrees is lovely and perfect for me - ! I hope its not like this up in Derby in July as it will ruin my holiday as won’t have any energy to do any sightseeing!

Sorry to say that the Midlands seems to trap the heat. I live in Derbyshire but I’m from the south originally and I thought it would be cooler here. I was wrong.

Champaganesupernova · 17/06/2025 19:39

Absolutely love waking up to sun after relentless grey skies!

ClockFront · 17/06/2025 19:39

Spare a thought for the competitive under heaters of MN. The ones whose heating never goes on after March 1st and their thermostat is set at 13° C, who simply cannot understand how people feel the cold. They must be struggling right now ;-)

BejewelledCat · 17/06/2025 19:40

I hate it. I am definitely a winter person.

Wolmando · 17/06/2025 19:41

It's not as humid at the moment so I'm quite enjoying the heat, it was 27 here today, I think when it's 31 as forecast it will be a bit warm.

cardibach · 17/06/2025 19:43

Good news! You get 9 months of your favourite weather.

the80sweregreat · 17/06/2025 19:46

The winters where I live are not that cold, so I can appreciate the ones who say they don’t like it if they live in colder areas. However, it doesn’t stop me hating hot weather, it’s just too much.

babasaclover · 17/06/2025 19:46

get air conditioning. Seriously cheap to run like 10p a night and make the house amazing. Cost effective and can use for heat in winter too.

TotHappy · 17/06/2025 19:46

Not very hot here in the south west either. Lots of cloud about and drizzles of rain. Not gone above 20 yet this month. Forecast of up to 24 on Friday.

DissDissOrDiss · 17/06/2025 19:47

It’s FABULOUS!

I finished work last night, went to the gym and we did our class outside on the sports field, strolled home through the park, did a load of laundry (and left it out overnight), before eating supper outside and then watering the garden at 10pm. Showered, and in to my nice cool bed (left the curtains closed all day) and slept like a baby. Then to wake up to more of it today?! Heaven!

I hope it lasts and lasts and lasts and lasts and lasts 🌞🕶️🌞🕶️🌞

BeamMeUpCountMeIn · 17/06/2025 19:50

It's bad for farmers and the environment but not that bad for a healthy person.
It's 26° in my living room, I've eaten a hot meal and not even breaking a sweat.

Remember to put water out for the birds and hedgehogs.

Actually, no, we don't. We have very mild, short winters in the UK.

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 17/06/2025 19:51

I love it and genuinely can't understand people who don't 🤷‍♀️

Yes, we are.

the80sweregreat · 17/06/2025 19:52

How people can love hot sweaty weather is beyond me!

whatcanthematterbe81 · 17/06/2025 19:53

2 weeks? It’s the beginning of summer, buckle up live we’ve a couple of months to go

LurcherMumma · 17/06/2025 19:53

Just want to get all my washing washed and dried before it rains again. (Until you remember laundry is forever)

TeenLifeMum · 17/06/2025 19:53

I love it. Dh thinks I’m part lizard because I’m always cold and just love the hot weather. I’m a happier person. I’m not a sweaty person so maybe that helps.
