Im doing something about it - cutting calories and last night went out for a gentle run

I'm in a similar situation, resolving to eat less and move more! Good luck OP

Agix · 17/06/2025 09:44

At our height, baby steps arnt going to cut it. Your calorie burn is going to be a lot lower than you think, and lower than what calorie calculators say online.

You'll find out for yourself soon enough though. Might want to consider going to a GP for help if you start getting frustrated.

TheNewVillageIdiot · 17/06/2025 09:44

Good luck in your weight loss journey, whatever method you choose.
I've thrown in the towel and gone for Mounjaro!

Not always! I'm 5 ft and have lost and kept a stone off by cutting calories and upping steps. 1400 -1500 calories seems to be my resting zone. I'm 8 stone 7, could do with losing that final half stone but suspect I'll need to drop to 1300- 1400 cals. It's not too bad though and it does work, good luck OP!

Similar mate, I'd say I dunno how it happened but I do, and that was how I managed life so I'm not beating myself up. Now I have a looong journey, and three weddings to attend this summer!

Well done for facing the music and good luck. Take it a day at a time and you will get there. From someone who is struggling with their weight too

Good luck OP!
I am 5'2
After one excruciating evening at work of my legs chaffing, I just decided to order weight loss injections (health problems meant I could never loose weight without it)
I'm 18kg down (I was also around 14.5 stone)
I've started going for a run and it slowly has got easier

curtaintwitcher78 · 17/06/2025 09:50

CelticMaiden · 17/06/2025 09:48

Ah good luck !

You too. I know there's hard work involved, but I think you're right starting with a gentle run. We'll only screw up if we try to start with unrealistic and unmanageable goals.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 17/06/2025 09:50

This is tongue in cheek but go on antibiotics- I've lost nearly half a stone after 3 days on them. Luckily I was ten stone so not quite so overweight but now down to 9 and a half ish

Did they make you sick or something?

No my stomach has been upset but basically I have no desire to eat. Stopped them on Saturday but appetite has yet to return. Only have a mild ear infection.

Ficklebricks · 17/06/2025 09:53

What does the voting mean? At the moment it looks like the majority voted YABU. Does that mean people think you are being unreasonable to go on a diet? Or that you are unreasonable to post it on the internet?

The AIBU format is so confusing sometimes.

Personally I think you don't need to diet (if that's even the question being asked).

I had some antibiotics that did that to me when I was a kid but ever since I've had different ones and it's not happened again. Wish I knew which ones 😂

Sorry I really didn’t consider the voting element at all is everyone can feel free to just ignore it !!

Good luck op. Im similar height and started at 16 stone. Now just under 14 stone. Im taking it slow. Joined slimming world a year or so ago and aim for 0.5 a week. Some weeks I lose, some I don't. I don't have healthy relationship with sweet food so trying to retrain myself too. Its a journey I tried every other diet out there and don't mental energy to constantly count calories.

Exercise always been problematic as tend to go all out then give up so started with doing x number of steps a day instead and focus on maintaining that for a couple of months. Then try adding walks in. Again sw has movement goals which are helping me

I find the faster I lose the faster I put back on. I did fast 800. Dropped 4 stone. Couldn't maintain and put more on.

TroysMammy · 17/06/2025 09:56

I'm just under 5ft and I weighed 10st 9lb, I had a bmi of 29 and diagnosed with a fatty liver. I was introduced to Nutracheck by a friend. I'm naturally lazy but portion control enabled me to lose weight and I'm now 8st 7lb with no sweating. It costs £34.99 for a 12 month subscription which works out at 9p a day.

Mounjaro. I think you’d be eligible at that weight
