Dd has one of her artworks on exhibit at the Royal Scottish Academy’s Annual Open Exhibition. I don’t think I’m BU to be so proud of her, although IRL she doesn’t think it’s worth mentioning to friends! She’s the youngest in the show.

@TheeNotoriousPIG I don't mind you asking at all. She tried oil paints for the first time at age 15 and could just paint! The first painting she did was of her dad (on her website) and she's just taught herself pretty much since. She had 5 days at an atelier as a Christmas present too.

Wow amazing! I have an aspiring artist daughter (13) and am in the tears stage of her thinking a fabulous portrait just isn't quite right. Your daughter should be very proud of herself!

She is incredibly talented. How exciting if she does get into an art school in Florence. Maybe it's time to look around for art scholarships. I'm sure there will be some around for people as talented as her.

@Motomum23 Ah, I understand where you're coming from! Dd was advised at one point not to play her work down, as in 'it's rubbish', as it would make others feel worse and come across as disingenuous. But, we recognise now that there is a stage during most paintings where she doesn't think it's going well or hates it! At least, she can see now that it normally resolves. And we still disagree on one or two of her works, which are our favourites and her least favourites. Artists can be super critical of themselves and it must be so hard to have your work on display for everyone to critique. Good luck to your dd.
