Currently on This Morning advocating for ‘weaponised male incompetence’ proudly stating how he does house jobs badly so his wife takes them over. They’re all laughing at this jolly little admission.

Men like him make me fucking sick

At least he’s admitted it, it’s up to his wife if she runs behind him sweeping up. It’s a good thing in a way as some viewers may have had their eyes opened and can decide whether to make a stand in their own life/ lazy DHs or not

Sortofdontwantto · 02/05/2025 11:11

Good point.

I just wish they’d stop giving this loathsome misogynist man airtime

Wife?

IfYouPutASausageInItItsNotAViennetta · 02/05/2025 11:12

He was a close friend of Prince Philip's - which suggests to me that he may just not be the kindest, most caring or humble of people.

Sortofdontwantto · 02/05/2025 11:13

Now he’s banging on about WLI and how people just need to ‘eat less and excercise more’

I love Gyles.

My husband won’t let me load the dishwasher because I do it so badly <whistles innocently>.

Urgh I didn’t know that

it's just a joke and his usual sense of humour - honestly lighten up!

Ah the age old classic of those who are misogynist / racist/ whatever - ‘it’s just a joke, lighten up’

I have personal, experience that Prince Phillip was indeed very generous, kind and helpful to a person who suffered a terrible personal tragedy.

Did you know him personally?

Wife?

You thought he is gay didn't you - me too until I saw a programme about his marriage a couple of weeks ago 😣

Sortofdontwantto · 02/05/2025 11:16

Oh no he’s not gay. He’s classic misogynist middle aged white male

Tbf so did I until he was on QI a while back and he spoke ( very fondly ) of her then .

tartyflette · 02/05/2025 11:20

He can be a bit camp, that's all.
(Quite like him really. I bet his wife stands up to him, though)

MrsPlantagenet · 02/05/2025 11:20

I went to one of his ‘evening with’ type things and met his wife who was there with him at the book signing afterwards. She was lovely and they’re clearly devoted.

Sortofdontwantto · 02/05/2025 11:21

Well of course he is, sounds like she does everything for him. He knows where his bread is buttered

Meh. I pretend I can’t get the wheelie bin down the steps. I can…. I just don’t want to.

Londonmummy66 · 02/05/2025 11:22

Its so annoying - Bob Crampton in the Times also spends a lot of time boasting about his weaponised incompetence.

Penko25 · 02/05/2025 11:22

I can’t get wound up about this. More important things to worry about than Gyles B.

Funny you are so judgemental, he says the nicest things about you

andweallloveclover · 02/05/2025 11:23

It was just a joke. I pretend my back hurts when I mow the lawn so DH has to do it 😂

MrsPlantagenet · 02/05/2025 11:25

I think he’s a national treasure. He’s the only contributor with half a brain on This Morning, he’s a fabulous name-dropper with great stories, and his Rosebud podcast is one of the best out there.

NewGoldFox · 02/05/2025 11:26

I listen to his podcast and he gives time and space to women to tell their story. I wouldn’t say he is a misogynist.

WorriedRelative · 02/05/2025 11:29

The best way to deal with this type of shit from men is to let them suffer the consequences. Don't rise to it, but feel free to mock their absolutely moronic inability to operate simple equipment, preferably by expressing incredulity that they can do their job/hobby given that they can't work out how to switch on the vacuum cleaner.

As for Giles, he's playing a character, like many TV personalities and talking heads. They wouldn't be asked to appear if they weren't prepared to say something controversial.

I have never met him but he showed kindness and thoughtfulness to my family following a bereavement. He didn't need to and had clearly put in some effort.
