Bumcheeks fully on show at family attraction

Today I was at a local attraction aimed at young families. It's an outdoor attraction with a zoo, a few tame rides, a soft play, that sort of thing. Aimed at kids under 10.

There were two teenage girls there, probably about 16, didn't appear to be with anyone else, who were wondering around looking at the animals. One of them had on the shortest "skirt" imaginable. When I say bum cheeks were on show, I don't just mean a peek or a little glimpse. I mean the "skirt" ended almost at the top of her arse. It's truly was like a belt. Not only that but she was wearing a thong and fishnet tights. You could see her entire bum, and things were only just decent around the front.
She and her friend must have noticed quite a few shocked glances and maybe whispered comments because her friend said loudly "well that's THEIR problem isn't it"

Is it? AIBU to think its entirely inappropriate?

Its quite nice that teenagers are wandering round a zoo rather than hanging round the shops / sitting in a park getting pissed.

Did you never go through a fashion phase of wanting to shock? Surely that's part of growing up. Rebelling. Frightening the grown ups 🤣

I didn't wander around with my arse cheeks out, no.
And if I did wear anything a little risqué, it was when I went out clubbing, not while wandering around a family attraction in the middle of the day.

I thought the current format of thought was that we shouldn’t comment on what women wear? True free society a woman can wear a bikini or a burka if she wants. The flip side is moments like these and we just say, if thats what she would like to wear…

All sounds very Sabrina Carpenter where young girls go to her concerts in lingerie as Sabrina loves a bit of lingerie herself! I mean, a zoo isn't quite the same thing as a concert of course but if that's who they aspire to be then there's not much hope is there? Glad my DD is grown up!

My issue with this is that they looked about 16 to you. I think it's one thing to say grown women can wear what they want but children's bums should be covered up.

I saw the exact outfit on a girl at the park on Saturday! Tiny skirt and literal full arse out 😆😆 it must be the trend of the moment for some reason that I don’t understand because I’m an out of touch aged millennial. No fishnets though which I guess elevated my one’s look lol lol

I'm glad someone else has seen it because I can't even find a picture on the internet of a skirt short enough to really convey how pretty much non existent it was.

Well, I hate to sound old and Pearl clutchy, but have you seen their influences.
I thought that girl on the Brit Awards who opened was a Disney girl for kids before I saw her.

I wouldn't want my 16 year old daughter going out like that. I struggle with her short shorts. But she's got a beautiful figure, she's young, she's been perved at since she was 12. A lot of girls are dressing in innocence.
Maybe these girls are fighting back against that. Owning what they show or what they don't. It's happened since the dawn of time. The mini skirt... (Which I appreciate wasn't the dawn of time) had people in uproar.

I don't want to see a teenagers arse, but it honestly wouldn't have bothered me. If your kids question it - goodness me, she forgot her skirt tee hee. Giggle

It wouldn’t have been my shock outfit of choice aged 16, but I don’t think it’s much more revealing than the see-through flesh coloured leggings-all-in-one outfits that seem to have been around for teenage girls of late, or the cut-off hot pants that left the bottoms of the buttocks freely visible, worn by the same population? Or the tiny, skin-tight gym shorts that only extend an inch or so beyond knicker coverage?

It’s not like young children don’t know what bottoms look like.

We’ve always covered our secondary sexual characteristics when out in public. It’s normal. I don’t want to be seeing anyone’s arsehole when they bend to tie their shoelaces. That doesn’t make me a prude. It makes me a person who doesn’t like seeing strangers’ arses.

Of course you are being completely reasonable but you'll still get parents on here saying it's absolutely fine for children to go about basically naked from the waist down, cos well they're just teenagers being teenagers innit?
What can you do?
What could possibly go wrong?

Then you'll get parents who actually make an effort to parent their children and to explain to them about things like basic decency and consideration for others.
