Today I was at a local attraction aimed at young families. It's an outdoor attraction with a zoo, a few tame rides, a soft play, that sort of thing. Aimed at kids under 10. There were two teenage girls there, probably about 16, didn't appear to be with anyone else, who were wondering around looking at the animals. One of them had on the shortest "skirt" imaginable. When I say bum cheeks were on show, I don't just mean a peek or a little glimpse. I mean the "skirt" ended almost at the top of her arse. It's truly was like a belt. Not only that but she was wearing a thong and fishnet tights. You could see her entire bum, and things were only just decent around the front. She and her friend must have noticed quite a few shocked glances and maybe whispered comments because her friend said loudly "well that's THEIR problem isn't it" Is it? AIBU to think its entirely inappropriate?

This isn’t entirely relevant to the thread but(t) I’ll go ahead anyway.

I’m sure at 16 this girl’s bottom still had a good resistance to gravity but it does prompt me to reflect on that fact that the vast majority of bottoms that get flaunted (not by music videos etc but just “regular bum on the street”) tend not to look as I think the owner/wearer envisages. I think the issue is that when you look over your shoulder in a mirror you get a degree of tautening from the effect that the full-rear viewer is confronted by. Normally these butts make their appearance in gym kit and the effect is of water balloons filled with a 70/30 sand/water mix.
ETA maybe the issue is that when you look in the mirror you are standing still. It’s when you get up a gait-grind that the sand/water effect comes into its own.

there are laws in the uk which are enforced by the police and they include legislating against people having sex in public.

but surely you know that having your arse hanging out a short skirt and having naked sex in public in front of kids (at the zoo no less) are…. Completely different things?!

It wasn't even "hanging out" there was nothing for it to "hang out" of. It was just.. out. The whole arse. The skirt ended on top of the arse.

But those things are against the law. Its not matter of decency regarding clothing. It's illegal.

Apart from the nudity thing. My first boss was a nudist rambler. Imagine a clothed 6 foot corpse that would spittle on you every time it spoke and get frothier as it would tell you about its next naked escapade.
I was 16 then. Part of me wishes that I'd done a load of wet farts through my fishnets on to his chair.

What are the laws around nudity?

I’ve seen that on a couple of people. I’m not sure people on here realise quite how much arse is on show. It isn’t like arse crack that you sometimes see on men in low slung trousers. It is someone basically walking around with their bottom entirely out. The people I have seen it on must be wearing a g-string or tiny thong because no pants are visible at all. It looks utterly desperate and I feel embarrassed for the people wearing it because you can’t avoid wondering why they want to flash everyone. Most teenagers would be embarrassed to go out with their friend looking like that, let alone trying the look themselves.

Posters will say to mind your own business and women/girls can wear what they want etc but i get you @OP. Last weekend, DS and i were at Brent cross shopping centre, several girls aged about 11-14 you could clearly see far too much of their inner thigh and one occasion as we went up the escalator, the girl in front's skirt was so short, you could see not only her skimpy pants but her sanitary towel. Grim!
They clearly think they look hot, and it's obvious they're doing this to get the boys' attention, but they're getting the wrong kind of attention.

That’s what I tend to think with these outfits: it’s so hard to really see yourself from behind as others do I’m not sure they quite realise what they are getting into .

Maybe they want to dress like this? Of the millions of teenagers in the country, only a minuscule portion are wearing a thong and fishnets in public. So I doubt it’s peer pressure. Honestly some teenagers just like to shock. It’s a naturally rebellious and experimental phase of life, and some teenagers go further than others.

I've never seen it before but I'm also getting the sense that people don't realise how much arse was on show.
I've nothing against a short skirt but this couldn't really be called a skirt. It did not cover ANYTHING around the back and the front was literally just covered with millimetre precision. ENTIRE arse just THERE. Not hanging out. Just entirely OUT. With thong for maximum effect.
I can't even find an Internet picture with a skirt short enough.

To be fair to the no knicker look (but clothed) They actually do seamless knickers, so there's no... seam, showing.
