I have 74 tops/ T-shirts
22 dresses
12 pairs of jeans

3 jackets
2 coats
14 jumpers

7 hoodies

This Is 2 chest of drawers and one wardrobe. Is this excessive as Dh says or about right.

Easily have at least the same if not more!
Though I wfh so everything is home clothes.

PickledElectricity · 06/04/2025 21:38

What do you mean by home clothes, clothes you only wear at home or? Am I being dim?

Youcunnyfunt · 06/04/2025 21:38

What do you mean, home clothes?

violincelloviola · 06/04/2025 21:38

Some categories seem excessive and some fine.

Two coats is reasonable but surely nobody needs 74 tops?

Just meaning not work clothes.

Excessive - especially with work clothes on top!

Yio · 06/04/2025 21:43

My work clothes and my home clothes are both the same, not sure on the number of T-shirts maybe like 25, probably like 7 or 8 hoodies, four pairs of jeans, probably about ten shorts, couple of tracksuit bottoms, 2 waterproof jackets

cardibach · 06/04/2025 21:43

spinningmachine · 06/04/2025 21:39

Just meaning not work clothes.

So you mean you have work clothes on top of this? 74 tops, 12 pairs of jeans and 22 dresses seems excessive, and I have quite a lot of stuff myself.

stargazer02 · 06/04/2025 21:43

5 everyday tops
2 fancier tops
2 jeans
1 jumper
2 cardigans
4 pjs
2 leggings for around the house/lounging.
1 workout outfit
2 sets of old clothes for painting/gardening.
1 swimming costume
3 thermal underlayer tops

1 summer dress
2 summer skirts

1 winter coat
1 spring/autumn jacket

1 pair flip flops
1 pair sandals
1 pair flat boots,
1 pair trainers
1 pair crocs for garden/beach etc
1 pair slippers

Losing weight and will need to shop soon but will likely do one in one out except I'd like more trousers.

Sparrow7 · 06/04/2025 21:43

1 of each of the things on your list except for 8 tshirts and 6 dresses

I don’t work

They’re just clothes then surely?
I can’t imagine having 12 pairs of jeans.

Reallyyyyyy · 06/04/2025 21:45

10 tunic tops/dress
6 jeans
3 maxi skirts
6 lounge outfits
3 pjs
7 cardigans
10 maxi dresses
5 shirts
5 boots
3 trainers

Fleetheart · 06/04/2025 21:45

sèems majorly excessive to me. why so much?

eyespartyparty · 06/04/2025 21:45

I’ve got about the same as you OP. Especially as my weight can fluctuate by half a stone either way so I just keep everything in both sizes! I think I have 20 pairs of jeans because of this, and because depending on what shoes I’m wearing they all seem to need to be a different length. Annoying.

Gowlett · 06/04/2025 21:46

I have waaaaaay more clothes than this!

PrincessofWells · 06/04/2025 21:47

I have 24 pairs of jeans 😂 and around 14 jackets - plus another 6 or 7 coats 🤭

Ohhh I see! I think it's only excessive if you don't wear everything at least once a year? And obviously if storage space is desperate then you might want to think about cycling things into storage depending on the season.

I have never counted but I have approximately:

Half a small wardrobe of hanging dresses.
Maybe 6 pairs of joggers
2-4 jeans
10 shorts
4 leggings
Maybe a dozen long sleeved tops and a few less short sleeved ones?
4/5 coats
3 hoodies
I sleep in large t shirts and have 3 of those
3 dressing gowns: a cozy winter robe, a thin long one and a short thin one
An obscene amount of socks

My work wardrobe is:
2 shirts
1 pair of trousers
2 dresses (1 floaty for summer and a short long sleeved one I wear with tights and boots in the winter).

It used to be EXTENSIVE pre -covid but I'm delighted to have the space back.

I think I just don’t ever throw anything out. I do wear everything I have though.

I don’t work

Then why specify home clothes! Surely a bit of a moot point.

britinnyc · 06/04/2025 21:50

I also have way more, I love clothes but also have a casual office so there aren’t work clothes and non work clothes. It’s not like I am always buying stuff, I try to buy good quality stuff that lasts but do also throw in some fun stuff like inexpensive jeans that are whatever is in style and on-trend shoes then I can wear tops and jackets for any years

Nothanksiwillwalk · 06/04/2025 21:50

Why do you have so much clothes? I have 4 pairs of jeans, 6 jumpers, 6 tops, 2 long maxi type skirts, 1 jogging bottoms, 3 dresses.

Do you wear them all? I'm quite ruthless, if I don't wear stuff anymore, I donate.

spinningmachine · 06/04/2025 21:51

PickledElectricity · 06/04/2025 21:49

Then why specify home clothes! Surely a bit of a moot point.

It’s relevant as it would be different if some of them were work clothes.

OP posts:
Nothanksiwillwalk · 06/04/2025 21:51

I do have tailored work clothes onto of those though

Fatcish · 06/04/2025 21:51

Oh wow I have way more than this. Embarrassing really but I love clothes and keep things forever. My worst habit is probably coats. I think I have 20. I recently sold 3 on Vinted and am missing them!
