seems about right to me! I literally don’t think I could even count mine 😲😲😲 but that’s not something to be proud of! I’m excessive!

Stickortwigs · 06/04/2025 21:52

I’d have similar, more coats though. And I’m not particularly into clothes. Like you, I just have stuff from ages ago!

FKAT · 06/04/2025 21:53

Probably about the same as me though I will deffo have more dresses.

You need more coats and jackets. 2 definitely not enough - a good variety of practical, smart and frivolous. Get your DH to buy you some.

It has to be very cold for me to wear a coat, I’m comfy in a hoodie unless it’s freezing.

Sounds a lot to me. If you wore every top in rotation you'd only wear each one about 5 times a year. I'd guess I have about 30 - 35, some long sleeved, some short or sleeveless, some smart, some casual. Dresses about 12, mostly summer ones, some not worn more than once a year or never. A couple of summer skirts. Jeans 4 but one only for gardening and one needs replacing, about 7 pairs of work trousers though and several leggings and cropped leggings for exercising. Probably 5 cardigans and 7 jumpers. I have different coats/ jackets for different seasons/ weathers - around 7 or 8 in total. No hoodies. 3 pairs of shorts. Two pairs of pyjamas but rarely wear them. One dressing gown.

User74893773 · 06/04/2025 21:59

Gosh.

I have:
2 pairs of jeans
1 skirt
2 jumpers (but both Christmas!)
2 hoodies
6 tops/shirts
1 pair PJs
2 huge old T-shirts I sleep in
1 coat
1 wax jacket

That's it. (I have a couple of dresses too for formal occasions but rarely wear them.)

EmeraldShamrock000 · 06/04/2025 21:59

I have a summer clothes and winter clothes, 74 tops is excessive and borderline hoarding.

Do you wear 10% of them. I only keep the good stuff, cheap wore out clothing are sent to the clothing bank every year.

Missingpate · 06/04/2025 21:59

I also have so many. Never counted. But it is my addiction. But they make me happy. I have just filled two bin liners full to donate and have a pile to sell as well, after a good clear out. I am watching Stacey’s sort your life out in the background and keeping Dilly’s voice in my head asking do I love it does it fit do I wear it…but I still have so much. Most of it is bought second hand so haven’t spent silly money on it but it adds up.

Sanch1 · 06/04/2025 22:01

Excessive. I probably have 5 dresses and 20 tops, 3 pairs of jeans.

LillyPJ · 06/04/2025 22:02

I've never heard of 'home clothes' but yes - you seem to have a lot. Who needs 22 dresses or 74 tops?

Waffle19 · 06/04/2025 22:03

Wow I’d say that’s excessive. But I’m jealous, I’d love to be able to afford half as much as that.

Mistunza · 06/04/2025 22:03

I have roughly a quarter of yours in most categories, but the same number of PJs (4x winter, 4x summer). I'm not into clothes though and would find that many stressful.

@stargazer02 that's impressive.

mynameiscalypso · 06/04/2025 22:06

I don’t really distinguish between work and home clothes but some categories seem a lot, others don’t but it depends what suits you. I have a handful of dresses because I don’t wear them that often but more jeans and trousers. Do you not have trousers other than jeans? I have a whole spectrum of different types. I definitely have more jackets/coats.

YouWereGr8InLittleMenstruators · 06/04/2025 22:06

Fascinating.
I thought I had a lot, but nothing like this.
I really love my clothes and have hunted high and low for most of my stuff on pre-loved sites such as eBay and Vinted as I can't bring myself to buy new items of clothing. My weight has fluctuated enough over the years to warrant some extras due to sizing-differences but it's always my aim to rid myself of some of my less worn items. It doesn't help that I've got DDs who love clothes too and think of my wardrobe as an extension of their own second hand clothing habits. If I ever think of taking something to charity, I pretty much always think "Hang on, I bet DD2 will love / look amazing in that in a year or two!".

I'll leave it there... because I'm sorting out to sell on vinted and got to my tops..( because I've lost a load of weight).

Ikeameatballs · 06/04/2025 22:10

I have recently cleared out 5 bags of clothes for the charity shop, I had far too many that I didn’t wear and my wardrobe was so stuffed I couldn’t see the things I wanted to wear and I was buying the wrong things.

Dollshousedolly · 06/04/2025 22:15

74 tops sound like a lot as do 22 dresses but maybe they’re broken down into summer dresses/winter dresses/holiday dresses ? Have you worn each one of the 74 tops + 14 jumpers in the last year ? If not, time for a cull.

Daffodilsarefading · 06/04/2025 22:21

I have approx:
4 pairs of jeans
1 pair of joggers
5 pairs of trousers
9 skirts
55 dresses
10 blouses
15 tops/t shirts
3 pairs of shorts
10 jumpers
4 sweatshirts
10 cardigans
1 cardigan coat
9 coats
5 jackets
4 zip up fleeces
3 cami tops
gym wear: 6 pairs leggings, 6 t shirts, 8 vests.
6 swimming costumes
several beach cover ups
2 nighties
2 pairs of pjs
1 oodie
2 dressing gowns
3 pairs of boots
4 pairs of trainers
1 pair of walking boots
lots of heels all smart at least 15 pairs
4 pairs of flat sandals
1 pair flat smart shoes
6 pairs of flip flop style shoes
over 10 bras plus many sports bras ( kept for when my weight goes up and down)
plenty of knickers- around 30 pairs plus tummy control knickers and a few things.
lots of tights- I wear for work but only black opaque or sheer nude.
Not too many socks although I’ve recently discovered a bag with half a dozen pairs of thick fluffy socks I’d forgotten about.

I’ve recently had a clear out and taken a bag full of clothes to the charity shop.

TubeScreamer · 06/04/2025 22:24

I have approx 25% of that OP

Chickydoo · 06/04/2025 22:33

i have 70 items of knitwear (includes fleeces & sweatshits, cardigans, jumpers etc)
30 or so dresses and 100 tops. Everything from basic T shirts to strappy tops, going out tops, summer and winter. I never feel I have too many clothes. About right for me. Can always find something nice to wear for any and every occasion.

Jabberwok · 06/04/2025 22:48

I am male but like clothes so.
8 suits
10 sports jackets
20 pairs of jeans
10 trousers
25 dress shirts
40 or so tee shirts, long sleeve told
10 pairs of shoes
5 pairs of daps
Gloves, hats scarves
15 coats!

CarpetKnees · 06/04/2025 22:52

Coats aside, that is a ridiculous amount of clothes.

I'm lucky enough to have plenty of storage, and I have some stuff I've had for decades, but nowhere near those quantities of things. I would also put my hand up to being a hoarder, but again, I think that is a ludicrous amount of clothes.

Why on earth would anyone ever need 74 tops, none of which you would wear on any of the 22 dress days ? Confused

Stirfries · 06/04/2025 23:00

spinningmachine · 06/04/2025 21:51

It’s relevant as it would be different if some of them were work clothes.

That’s like like me saying ‘non-trampolining clothes’ despite never going trampolining.

PearTreeBoat · 07/04/2025 06:37
