She ordered a Curry and hasn’t paid me

Friend came to my house

I was going to cook but she asked if I fancied a curry. I said that would be really nice actually

Her JustEat app wasn’t working so I said have a look on mine for places that are open. She picked Indian.

I put everything I wanted in and she added hers. Total came to £52ish. Over 65% of that cost was hers.

I said I could just check out and sort it later. I have messaged to ask if she had the money today as a gentle reminder, and she said she thought it was my treat?

I said oh, we must have got crossed wires then. She said ‘I did cover the shop’

She went to the corner shop for wine and snacks. I got a Grape Fanta!

Where do I go from here? Leave it? Was it reasonable for her to assume it was in fact my treat?

This is a good game....

£45, free delivery, from our nearby good Indian. Southern edge of London.

Shall we make some kind of Nan Map of Britain?

Now check the prices for that restaurant through Just Eat, if they're on there. They're massively inflated.

Edited to add, my post was actually more for the person you quoted!

This thread is a prime example of why they say "don't feed the trolls"

Edited

But would you be feeding them rice or naan?

SerenaSemolena · 25/03/2025 19:43

I just order the paper bag

nationalsausagefund · 25/03/2025 19:55

£42.93 in our local, but free delivery. Reading through the menu to work it out confirmed I’d be really disappointed with a three naan, two rice order when there’s so many other delicious things. They do a set special for two for £37.99: poppadoms, sheek kebab, bhaji, all the dippy chutney things, tikka masala, jalfrezi, Bombay aloo, TWO pilau rice but only ONE naan.

I’d like OP to return, update, and elaborate on whether it was plain, pilau or some other rice. Makes a difference if they got one garlic rice one spinach. Adds vibes.

@OnePeachA any update on the CF?

ThatHazelGuide · 25/03/2025 21:03

I'm still maintaining the conspiracy that OP is actually the CF for starting a thread, getting us to provide a response and then disappearing without providing the closure we seek. All we are left with is pages and pages of naan/rice double carbing/ bun fighting with a giant yorkshire pudding thrown in.

Edit. You dont think (the originally accused) CF has gone round and done her in after seeing this thread do you?

ZorbaTheHoarder · 25/03/2025 21:10

I'm just a bit worried that the OP might be in an induced korma

It actually is really strange.

Is it as good as the poster who kept saying she was “vested” in the thread? That one seemed to slip by unnoticed.

She certainly caused an argy “bhaji”

I agree.

I had a friend who would turn up for a quick drink meet up with a group that never had any money or means to pay. She was subsidised for months. Still managed to have her nails, lashes, brows done and various other spending. She was a user. Eventually everyone got fed up with paying for her.

So many people these days seem to view their expensive grooming regime of Turkey teeth, botox, fillers, microbladed brows, acrylic nails, hair highlights and/or extensions, tattoos and a spray tan as basic necessities that couldn't possibly be cut back on, before they even think about paying their rent of their utility bills these days. It's bizarre.

SunshineAndFizz · 26/03/2025 17:48

@OnePeachA has she paid you yet?

KAT0779 · 31/03/2025 10:38

Pure cheeky, if I was you I'd see if she pays the money now you've asked for it, and if not put it down to experience and just never do it again. Annoying but if she's been this cheeky after her suggesting the takeaway then she would only do the same kind of thing again.

I've had it happen a few times when someone else has suggested getting a takeaway etc. and assumed I will pay because they are in my house. I had a friend once who ordered a pizza whilst at my house, I said I didn't want anything (there was never a pre arranged plan to get food) and when it arrived she shouted me and said the cost, I just shouted "oh I've got no cash, wasn't planning to order anything" and she did pay but obviously chanced her luck that she would just get a free pizza out of me. I totally pay my way and expect others to as well.

Her reply says

‘Oh right. I didn’t realise but never mind!! I’ll have to go into branch cos I don’t do online banking. Or I can hand * the cash to give you, she lives nearby doesn’t she’

Did she pay in the end OP?

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 05/01/2026 01:06

Her reply is so bad. Plenty of people might forget or ‘forget’ to transfer. But to be so brazen and combative trying to embarrass you into paying AFTRR you’ve made it clear you expect to split it? Her reply only would have been acceptable if you’d suggested the curry order
