From what I’ve heard with the current drama surrounding her I’m shocked. Did anyone’s opinions of her change?

ps this isn’t a bashing thread

How come these people don't make movies about Marian Keyes books? A writer with read humour, warmth, and depth-- and on serious themes, including DV.

Slightly changing tack @BurgundyZero but they've literally just announced the filming schedule and cast for a few series called The Walsh Sisters. It's apparantly going to be a mix of Rachels Holiday and Anybody Out There. The casting is absolutely superb. They are also doing a series of Grown Ups I believe.

But considering how well written Marians' stories are, I've always been baffled by why there's only ever been one bad adaptation of watermelon and nothing ever since...

Oh how wonderful!

I saw the film in question and liked her performance. I liked his too, but there is no denying that he is very handsome and 'handsome is as handsome does', as the saying goes.
Meaning, I think in this case that handsome blokes can often get away with things many of their plainer brothers can't, and they get used to thinking they can do this - they're entitled - especially if power is added to the mix .

I think much of the outrage about Harvey Weinstein stemmed from his physical appearance and that he had got away with multiple sexual assaults despite this. That was solely to do with naked (hah) power.
A handsome man just may have had a slightly easier ride. Not necessarily fair but it happens.

Hello there, is that you Blake?

As if half of these threads aren't being churned out by JB's aggressive, misogynist PR firm. Women can be so pathetic to fall over for men like JB and JD.

I know there have been a million messages since this one, but I just had to point out the sheer hypocrisy of this post. You first refer to JB's 'misogynist' team and then in your very next sentence say that 'women can be so pathetic to fall over for men like JB and JD', implying that anyone who goes against BL are just blinded by Justin Baldoni's biceps and that they have no discernment or ability to evaluate the evidence available to them. Your comment is actually the most misogynistic thing I've read in a while.

I read the book on my eReader last week. It's... not very good. But if Blake had read the first chapter, even, she'd know her reading of the character was significantly off.

But it is a poorly-written book and the author has serious problems with tone, so I don't really blame the actress.

I am more surprised that a director with apparently semi-serious aspirations (they submitted this film for awards) would choose something by an author with less skill, insight and subtlety than Jo Jo Moyes or Sophie Kinsella.🙄

How come these people don't make movies about Marian Keyes books? A writer with read humour, warmth, and depth-- and on serious themes, including DV.

Apparently the author has a huge following in the US.

I thought that one of the many difficulties BL caused was refusing to read the book as she wanted to make the character her own.

There was definitely one Marian Keynes movie, I remember Anna Freil in it.

Man!
I’ve been day dreaming about a personal chef on and off since I read your post Atomickitten! Maybe in an alternate universe…
How the Hollywood other half live 🤭

The judge threw out 10 of the 13 claims in her suit. All the sexual harassment ones. Going to trial in May on the other three, but I do think she’s entirely destroyed her reputation. She certainly won’t have the same status she had prior to this IMO.

I'd prefer a chauffeur

I have no idea why she did this, the movie was a success.

Notatallanamechange · 03/04/2026 12:21

It’s just baffling for me they let it go this far

TurquoiseDress · 04/04/2026 15:50

BL & JB back in the news (well the Daily Mail anyhow)
The judge has thrown out 10 of her 13 claims
Apparently it goes to trail next month…sounds like BL still wants her day(s) in court.
I think she’s just digging her own hole further but just my opinion…

Darkdiamond · 05/04/2026 21:11

I think Judge Lyman has done BL a huge favour and by dismissing her lawsuits in a way that she can claim is on a technicality, he has saved her from being absolutely ripped apart in trial. I have followed the case very closely from the very beginning and Blake Lively acted in complete malice from the start. She didnt have a leg to stand on and was hoping that Justin Baldoni would settle out of court and scuttle off with his tail between his legs and be black listed from Hollywood. She didnt bank on the ferocity with which he would fight back and the financial backing he had access to, to fund his defence.

Blake Lively got in way over her head and it was an act if kindness that those 10 claims of serial harassment were thrown out on their scanty, scrawny ass. There was no evidence against him and he had plenty against her.

Justice has been served for Justin finally and Blake can pretend that her case was thrown out on a technicality and try to save face. I bet she is very relieved by the outcome because she could have lost AND have been savaged in court by Bryan Freedman.

I am very happy with the outcome.
