How often do you have homemade soup?

Just curious. I am always thoroughly impressed with myself when I make soup instead of buying it. Feel like Martha Stewart especially if I have whacked the bread maker out.

Just curious how often people make soup? Growing up my parents literally never once made it.

In winter at least once a fortnight.

GammonAndEgg · 02/02/2025 13:32

Probably whenever I roast a chicken!

Futurename · 02/02/2025 13:33

Never.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 02/02/2025 13:33

Once a week or so? Normally as a weekend lunch. DS is obsessed with it right now so I make a bit extra for him to have after school on the Monday too.

SlipperyLizard · 02/02/2025 13:33

Whenever I want soup - I find shop bought ones totally disappointing now I can make my own.

HoskinsChoice · 02/02/2025 13:33

I'm in my late 40's and I've never made soup in my life!

FoxtonFoxton · 02/02/2025 13:34

Never. The kids hate soup, and I can't be arsed for me and DH. I just buy it.

bridgetreilly · 02/02/2025 13:34

I go in phases. Sometimes I’ll be making it every week and freezing portions. Other times not for months and months.

mashingwachine · 02/02/2025 13:35

Most days, it's rare I don't have soup for lunch

graceinspace999 · 02/02/2025 13:36

Every day.

Jasmin71 · 02/02/2025 13:36

We make a family soup recipe every time we have had roast chicken. Once a month ish.

I always look forward to it. In winter especially.

biscuitsandbooks · 02/02/2025 13:36

I've never made homemade soup in my life.

verycloakanddaggers · 02/02/2025 13:36

Most weeks in winter, less often when it's warm.

Hollowvoice · 02/02/2025 13:36

Once a month maybe? Made a lot pot of lentil and bacon last weekend and most of it is in the freezer, one it is used up I'll make something else. Nice easy lunches to take to work.

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 02/02/2025 13:36

Recently been making a big vat on a Sunday and eating it for lunch about five days out of seven. I don’t mind my meals being repetitive!

GrowingSideways · 02/02/2025 13:37

I have it a lot. Once a month or so I spend an afternoon making a few different soups to freeze and eat for lunches and sometimes dinner. I eat soup at least 4 times a week.

Coldnat · 02/02/2025 13:37

I love soup, probably a couple of days a week, not fresh made everyday, but homemade batch and then frozen into portions.

heidi345 · 02/02/2025 13:37

Most week days. I make one very big pot of soup at least once a week and freeze portions. Not often at the weekend.

TaggieO · 02/02/2025 13:38

Almost never as I absolutely abhor soup. If we were a soup family I would always make rather than buy as it’s really easy to do.

Crispyturtle · 02/02/2025 13:39

I make a batch of spicy veg and lentil soup every couple of weeks, it makes about six portions which I bag up and freeze, then if I’m WFH I can just get one out first thing.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 02/02/2025 13:39

It varies. Once every 2 or 3 weeks. Lately it's been pretty much every week though. Dh made an amazing mushroom soup with garlic and tarragon this week. I took some to work and it honestly made my day Grin I am a bit of a soup obsessive though!

MumChp · 02/02/2025 13:39

Once a week.

Sacredhandbag · 02/02/2025 13:39

In winter, at least twice a week.
When it's warmer that probably goes down to about twice a month.
I absolutely love it. I roast up whatever veg I have in the oven with lots of roasted garlic and blend it with vegetable stock, and maybe a bit of cream or cream cheese if I have some in.
Delicious, filling and cheap cheap 😋 😋😋

BeaAndBen · 02/02/2025 13:39

Most weeks during the winter - I make it in large pots and freeze portions. I have it as couple of times a week at least. There are 4 different types in the freezer at the moment.

It's easy, cheap and filling. No brainer.

KnickerFolder · 02/02/2025 13:39

As often as I eat soup, which isn’t very often. A few times a year, maybe. I try to avoid UPFs and I don’t really enjoy ready made food, I prefer to cook from scratch so everything is exactly the way I like it,
