To ask where is the outrage?

Found this article on grooming gangs. I was certain there would be outrage on Mumsnet because of all the recent posts on grooming gangs so imagine my shock when there are no comments at all condemning the perpetrators in this shocking story. Could it be because they are white and some people are only interested in protecting children if the perpetrators are from an ethnic minority?

It was one of the top stories on the BBC too.

It's the same across all social media. Crickets.

A cynical person might think we have seen a lot of faux outrage from people with other agendas.

T4phage · 28/01/2025 22:02

This is the first time I've seen this and, yes, it's as disgusting and awful just as any other group of people abusing children is disgusting and awful.

ThighsYouCantControl · 28/01/2025 22:05

I did see this case reported on sky news (yesterday?) and it was so disturbing what happened to those poor kids. But no come to think of it, haven’t seen a lot of outrage anywhere including here…

SpicyNikNak · 28/01/2025 22:05

There was a thread yesterday in the News forum and yes it's horrific.

lifeturnsonadime · 28/01/2025 22:06

First time I've seen this and yes it's disgusting that any group of people should join together to sexually abuse and rape children. But if you are comparing this to Rotherham I don't think there was any coverup to avoid allegations of racism because the perpetrators were Pakistani Muslims.

So you are somewhat missing the point.

Whoknew24 · 28/01/2025 22:07

If you go have a look at the Scottish media pages I can assure you they were outraged. The majority of comments were disgusted and the only other comments were people saying this and referencing their colour.

But it was heavily reported in the Scottish media. And I find it so sad all these poor children being abused and people’s first thought are their colour etc how sad is that.

PeriPeriMam · 28/01/2025 22:07

It is absolutely awful. It is also the first time I have seen this story. Lack of outrage on mumsnet does not necessarily mean mumsnet users are all a bunch of racists.

FOJN · 28/01/2025 22:11

I've seen it discussed on several "news commentator" type YouTube channels. The details are beyond horrific and the general consensus is that 93 years is nowhere near enough for what they did.

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/01/2025 22:13

The first time I heard of these despicable people was on the radio news today.

I’m an atheist but when I hear of such depraved people, I do wish I could have faith because if hell was real, they deserve to burn there for ever.

TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 28/01/2025 22:14

It has been heavily reported on in Scotland from the start. There's plenty about it on social media and has been for a while.

ThatShyRoseViper · 28/01/2025 22:17

I remember this from when it was first in the media a while ago. When it did crop up again a few days ago I must confess my first through was about all the focus on so-called “Muslim” grooming gangs, the focus being on one word in particular.

floppybit · 28/01/2025 22:20

You are completely missing the point, the crimes of these people were not allowed to continue and go unchallenged because nobody wanted to be labelled racist. These people are scum, all people who abuse children are scum, and it should never be covered up or tolerated regardless of who does it.

Screamingabdabz · 28/01/2025 22:23

I would happily do away with all of them. Lock. Key. Starve. No one will miss you, you depraved fucks.

That said, Rochdale induced such outrage because authorities turned a blind eye. And there were wider debatable issues of society, culture, misogyny and power. The lack of justice fuelled much of the anger there.

Mrsknowitall · 28/01/2025 22:26

Am I missing something op was this also covered up like the Rotherham grooming gangs and many other grooming gangs? Luckily these have been dealt with and they are behind bars where they deserve to be let’s hope the ones being covered up come to light and they also get banged up

Scammersarescum · 28/01/2025 23:08

What's disgusting is your post @Raspberryrippleflavour

These paedophiles have horrifically raped and abused children. That should be the focus, the damage done to children. To their bodies, to their minds, to their futures. To children. Who were raped and defiled. Over and over.

Instead you have chosen to use those very children. You have used their suffering for your own political ends. To further your agenda that those concerned and frightened by both the actions of asian grooming gangs and the lack of action that authorities took because of the religion and ethnicity of those grooming gangs must be rascist.

Well they're not and they are right to be concerned about the industrial scale of the abuse.

https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/24282896.25-men-jailed-346-years-abhorrent-sex-offences/

They're right to be concerned that there was a time when it was absolutely commonplace to see middle aged taxi drivers parked up outside of a school local to me, trying to coax young girls into their cabs. People like Ann Cryer tried to the lift the lid on this insidious abuse and point out that political correctness had gone too far when we couldn't tackle the rape of children because the perpetrators happened to be brown and Muslim. She was branded a racist by people like you. The rape of children continued because of people that would rather yell rascist than protect kids.

These links are just from the first page of Google if you put in bradford grooming gangs. Feel free to Google Rochdale grooming gangs, or Yorkshire groomjng gangs for a further plethora of results. The list goes on and on.

Just because you don't actually give a damn about these kids doesnt mean the people that do care hadn't seen this news from Scotland previously.. just because you weren't paying attention it doesn't mean others weren't.

Up you hop onto your moral high horse. You probably think because you vote Labour you're some sort of special moral arbiter, some social justicd warrior. Well you're not. You're pushing people with completely genuine concerns into the arms of the far right.

Shame on you for using those kids who have already been so hideously used. Shame on you for trying to silence those who are trying to discuss this incredibly serious issue. Shame on you for implying that women in Mumsnet are rascist for caring about children and the damage done to them.

Shame on you OP.

Now off you go back to Reddit or 4chan where you belong.

And finally to put the focus back where it should be, with the children who were victimised. Here's a link to a survivor story on the BBC

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-68300484.amp

Be warned its a tough read. This 12 year old was taken into rooms filled with 30 to 40 men who all abused her, but her story deserves to be heard despite the attempts of people like OP trying to bury this scandal for the second time.

2boyzNosleep · 28/01/2025 23:12

Whilst i agree with OP, for this case I think there's less outrage on this story due to it not being as publicised in England.

ExercicenformedeZ · 28/01/2025 23:13

Totally agree, OP. Anyone who tries to shout you down has an agenda.

user243245346 · 28/01/2025 23:22

There has been plenty of outrage on X about that. All child sexual abuse is horrific. Imagine if some people dismissed this case saying most group offenders are non- white? Would be pretty offensive, no?

boxyboxs · 28/01/2025 23:25

I was on a thread about yesterday & it was on last nights news. I didn't watch it though as it's horrible.

boxyboxs · 28/01/2025 23:25

it was only discussed on LBC today

boxyboxs · 28/01/2025 23:25

also not only

boxyboxs · 28/01/2025 23:27

It's sad some people prefer to score points with these children.

Hyperquiet · 28/01/2025 23:27

MY POINT EXACTLY!

Haveacuppaandwaitforthistoblowover · 28/01/2025 23:29

I saw this yesterday on Scottish news and believe me I am outraged. All these Child Protection professionals saying it's terrible bla bla bla... Hmmm wonder if blind spots were made... concerns were apparently raised! I mean I've been through some grueling shit last year with my own problems regarding social services! They refuse to do their job properly!
No wonder it happens! I am sickened and hope they all get a severe miserable time in prison.
Death penalty for these c*nt's would be best though.
