What food from Waitrose do I need to try?

I've never shopped at waitrose, apart from popping in for an emergency water bottle, kind of thing. I'm an Asda/Lidl budget shopper 🤭

I've got a voucher to use there for an online shop, £15 off of an £80 shop.

So which food would you recommend i buy? Which food tastes amazing and is a must try? I'm thinking of venison, never had that

Is the pasta superior? Any seasonings?

They sell the same food as Tesco, mate. Just pricier.

LuluBlakey1 · 21/01/2025 00:18

You can get it all at Sainsbury's or Tesco. Same stuff, same labels- just costs more at Waitrose.

newmanager2 · 21/01/2025 00:19

They do nice cooking chorizo

minipie · 21/01/2025 00:21

The meat is good and they have a good range of organic meat if that’s important to you. The essentials range tends to be decent. I’m not sure there are any star items.

fixingmylife · 21/01/2025 00:22

Their lemon knot yum yums are lovely.

Mwnci123 · 21/01/2025 00:22

Waitrose coffee shortbread. Lovely stuff.

minipie · 21/01/2025 00:27

Oh yes, the chocolate mint thins are amazing

Elphame · 21/01/2025 00:27

Excellent cheese deli counter.

Veg is top quality and the Essentials own brand is often better than than the branded equivalent.

Love the bakery too and the best commercially made Welsh Cakes!

PickAChew · 21/01/2025 00:33

If you love a curry, the kerala inspired chicken curry is quite addictive, as is the aloo gobi saag.

@LuluBlakey1

I'm looking through and it's a lot of branded items that you can indeed buy at Tesco 😄

I feel like i should just do my monthly shop there instead of Asda, rather than buy expensive must try waitrose items

At maximum price

faithbuffy · 21/01/2025 01:00

I'm an Aldi shopper so listing stuff you couldn't get there!

Essentials range is their sort of value range
Their essential shower gels are great for £1
Pecorino dip
No 1 Cornish sea salt brittle ice cream (any of their ice cream is decent!)
Umami paste makes most recipes better
Kissabel apples
Dine in deals often good value
Frozen soffritto mix

Valencia orange ice lollies. Like the really posh orange juice with bits but frozen and in a stick, amazing.

LoserWinner · 21/01/2025 01:11

Cinnamon danish buns and frozen bake-at-home rustic bread.

Monty27 · 21/01/2025 01:12

I'm all ears

SnowFrogJelly · 21/01/2025 01:14

Second the coffee shortbread
They do great salads
Lots of nice fish
Great selection of wine
And it might sound funny but their tinned tomatoes with olive oil and garlic are the best

madamepresident · 21/01/2025 01:16

We have Waitrose products imported here and the chocolate digestives are lovely!

madamepresident · 21/01/2025 01:17

Their own brand tea bags are good too
