What food from Waitrose do I need to try?

I've never shopped at waitrose, apart from popping in for an emergency water bottle, kind of thing. I'm an Asda/Lidl budget shopper 🤭

I've got a voucher to use there for an online shop, £15 off of an £80 shop.

So which food would you recommend i buy? Which food tastes amazing and is a must try? I'm thinking of venison, never had that

Is the pasta superior? Any seasonings?

Cinnamon danish buns and frozen bake-at-home rustic bread.

I've added various bread bits to my basket, they even have stuff from Gail's bakery (where i live there isn't a gails)

Cherry & Almond danish from the fresh bakery section. OMG

Exasperateddonut · 21/01/2025 01:37

I shopped at Aldi this week and the basic is were actually more expensive than Waitrose. Baffling.

beachcitygirl · 21/01/2025 01:37

Cotton candy grapes
Their ice cream
Value range
Expensive real butter with sea salt

Their own brand tea bags are good too

and coffee bags, especially Colombian, better than Taylors

bridgetreilly · 21/01/2025 01:47

Tins of flageolet beans. Can’t find them anywhere else these days.

MamaConchy · 21/01/2025 01:51

The buffalo mozzarella flat garlic bread is so good.

timetodecide2345 · 21/01/2025 01:58

Bought the best lemon meringue pie from their freezer section at the weekend!

LadyWiddiothethird · 21/01/2025 01:59

Fig and quince jam, delicious with Manchego.

Toastandbutterand · 21/01/2025 02:19

I really like their chilli prawn posh pizza.
They stock pots and co. They're really nice creamy desserts.
Their value chicken wings are really good, all nicely prepped so you just stick your marinade on and put them in the oven. We used to have those with coleslaw, corn cobs and fries.
They used to do a really nice butterflied pork dish in their just cook range. I liked it with their ratatouille but the kids had it with sauted potatoes and green veg.

I've not shopped in Waitrose for years though! I have no idea of prices these days!

The mozarella stuffed meatballs in tomato sauce ! Divine.

@mumofoneAlonebutokay if it's an ocado voucher for online you only get the really ridiculous delivery slots ime

Ocado don't sell Waitrose products...

MrsJHernandez · 21/01/2025 14:00

I honestly don't rate Waitrose. Nothing is "amazing" quality. As a PP said, it's mainly the same stuff but more expensive. You'd be better off shopping at your regular shops and binning the £15 off because it's a false saving imo.

WinterFoxes · 21/01/2025 14:08

Venison burgers
Quartz cheddar
Lavender shortbread
Colombian ground coffee
Fancy houmous -beetroot or Moroccan
I find their grapes are bigger, sweeter and have less tough skins than Sainsbury's.

If you have a dog their treats are good. £1for a pack of picnic jumbles or 20 long thin chews.

WinterFoxes · 21/01/2025 14:09

They also do really tasty, good value Indian ready meals and snacks - the lamb madras is delicious

Ocado don’t sell Waitrose food anymore. They sell M&S food.

TheFlis · 21/01/2025 14:12

Their smoked tomato and chilli chutney is amazing. The slow cooked meat range is fantastic, particularly the red eye ribs. They are honestly better than you find in most restaurants and I have tried a lot of ribs in my time!!

jolota · 21/01/2025 14:24

I do the bulk of my shopping from tesco but the fruit from waitrose is so much nicer imo, so we buy that from there as well as a few odd bits I can't get from other supermarkets that I particularly like but I wouldn't buy anything branded from there as even on offer I find its more expensive than when on offer at other supermarkets.
I never order enough to buy online though but my mum does and has a real problem with delivery slots & so much stuff being out of stock when it comes to delivery.

AdoraBell · 21/01/2025 14:26

Their No.1 pasta is delicious 😋

PinkTonic · 21/01/2025 14:32

we like the smoked haddock gratins and the rose veal burgers

Sourisblanche · 21/01/2025 14:39

Their tiramisu is very good. Better than most restaurants I’ve had it in recently.

Otherwise I think their fruit and veg last much longer than other places.

SomethingFun · 21/01/2025 14:48

Croquants du cordes - little crispy almond biscuits which are delicious and have barely any calories in

Thwart · 21/01/2025 14:48

We recently kicked our very serious Waitrose habit. We were weekly big shoppers.

I miss the quartz cheddar, the sourdough bread (bertinet bakery or their own no.1 range) and dragonfly herbal teas.

these are the things I still have to pop in for occasionally.

Thwart · 21/01/2025 14:49

Waitrose apparently have the highest animal welfare standards of any supermarket in the world
