I'm quite looking forward to this. And wondered if anyone else was. I don't expect so but thought I would ask anyway!

Absolutely, but everyone on here hates him so good luck. He's going to be a fantastic president.

ExtraOnions · 18/01/2025 09:17

Boring Goady Post, posted for the express intention of garnering annoyed responses. There is no AIBU question. If you are that short of people to talk to IRL,that you have to spend Saturday morning posting deliberately devisive messages on a public forum, I would examine your life choices.

He was a crap president first time round and his mental state has significantly deteriorated since then so he's likely to be even worse this time round.
Particularly since his supporting team are less likely to curb his more radical ideas

Weepixie · 18/01/2025 09:20

No. I’m feeling so jaded right now by the way the world is going/has gone that I’ve no interest in the inauguration:

PortiasBiscuit · 18/01/2025 09:21

No one actually believes he has any kind of real power so they?
I am terrified of whoever is manipulating this senile old man, however they are unlikely to be in evidence at the inauguration.

PandoraSox · 18/01/2025 09:21

It is a shame they have moved it indoors. Standing around in the freezing cold might have seen him off.

JanuaryBluehoo · 18/01/2025 09:23

It's a show, the interactions, remember the famous present handling last time.
There are lots of in fighting now as well.
So from a drama soap type of thing I'm so looking forward to it.
Re trump again I just don't know, he's being given lots of credit for this cease fire deal so who knows?

Somebody already tried that. It went wrong, Seriously though I don't think he will cause havoc in the world he won't be allowed to. I was more meaning looking forward to the actual ceremony. But also all the mealy mouthed protests when he was democratically elected.

You're wrong. His team are absolutely excellent, JD Vance in particular.
What exactly are his radical ideas?

EnjoyingTheSilence · 18/01/2025 09:26

Exactly how is he going to be a great president? If you’re rich, white and male maybe. But women’s right, forget it. Poor people, will just bet poorer. Non white people, more abuse.

I think it’s an absolute disaster, what was once a wonderful country has been absolutely trashed.

JanuaryBluehoo · 18/01/2025 09:27

Aside from wrecking havoc it looks like his threats have pushed this peace deal in gaza, fingers crossed it does happen.

Obviously it should go without saying he's not soley responsible for it but sometimes that heavy weight threat which he made repeatedly in one of his recent speeches definitely helped.

JanuaryBluehoo · 18/01/2025 09:29

Hopefully they will stop men competing against women in sport and other arenas which will be one aspect of women rights that will improve?

Deerrobin · 18/01/2025 09:30

Inauguration ceremonies are pretty dull affairs generally so seems an odd thing to be excited about but you do you. Unless of course you’re just trying to kick off yet another goady Trump thread, which is a pretty dull thing to do with your time too.

Who is giving him credit? Trump himself?

JanuaryBluehoo · 18/01/2025 09:36

@Deerrobin well I'm looking forward to it so to me it's not goady at all.

Do you think you should list all the politicians you like and the entity of mn should discuss them as well?
If you're not interested why post, that could be construed as goady in itself.

Pandora sox, radio political commentators and sky news etc political discussions on podcasts.

justasking111 · 18/01/2025 09:39

Well it's important to Americans. The crowds remind me of big royal events.

I felt the same way about Biden too.

Anniedash · 18/01/2025 09:41

Trump was previously and will be far better for the US than than what Europe and UK has.

The Americans can look toward to something good while we have had and will continue to have a tanking economy, uncontrolled borders and unlimited immigration, out of control state spending, millions choosing not to work and an ever shrinking number of people supporting them, state sponsored mitigation of children in the name of trans rights, men in women’s spaces and gaslighting by the corrupt incompetent government.

mitogoshigg · 18/01/2025 09:42

I know two Americans going (or were, weather may stop play) to protest, huge swathes of the US can see how dangerous he is because he is too easily swayed by power and prestige, he listens to the wrong people

Radical ideas - taking Panama, Greenland and Canada for starters

What experience do you think his team has - basically none

MargaretThursday · 18/01/2025 09:48

You know things are getting desperate when a US president has to try and gain popularity on a machine nly UK based parenting site.

Abhannmor · 18/01/2025 09:52

PandoraSox · 18/01/2025 09:21

It is a shame they have moved it indoors. Standing around in the freezing cold might have seen him off.

I think it may be a ploy to distract from the disappointing crowd. But ' it's a hell of a job running the USA, wonder who's doing it?' as someone said during Reagan's 2nd term.

Milkmani8 · 18/01/2025 09:57

I’m looking forward to seeing Melania. As a fellow eastern euro, I know it’s hard to keep that smiling mask. I love it when she drops it and looks like she’s going to murder someone 😂

sausageupanalley · 18/01/2025 09:57

Scared shitless and it will mark the start of me not reading the news for 4 years if we're still all around by the end of it
