I'm quite looking forward to this. And wondered if anyone else was. I don't expect so but thought I would ask anyway!

The human race gets more stupid by the day

Whydoeseveryonewanttoargue · 18/01/2025 10:00

Yea but not for the reasons you may think.

I want to see the inauguration inside for the first time in like ever because the old man is too old for the cold.

I want to see the look on Biden’s, Obama’s, Harris’s face when they have to hold their nose, be polite and realise again there is an idiot for US president.

I want to see who he managed to harangue into performing since the majority of performers are democrats.

Stuff like that….

Somebody already tried that. It went wrong, Seriously though I don't think he will cause havoc in the world he won't be allowed to. I was more meaning looking forward to the actual ceremony. But also all the mealy mouthed protests when he was democratically elected.

Protests are legal. Storming the capital building because you are a sore loser and couldn’t take losing and en citing a riot. Yeah that isn’t okay.

You're wrong. His team are absolutely excellent, JD Vance in particular.
What exactly are his radical ideas?

Here’s a couple of new ones because the old ones are too many

  • Saying he is going to buy a democratically elected sovereign country for his win purposes
  • Saying he is going to make a democratically sovereign country the 51st state

Exactly how is he going to be a great president? If you’re rich, white and male maybe. But women’s right, forget it. Poor people, will just bet poorer. Non white people, more abuse.

I think it’s an absolute disaster, what was once a wonderful country has been absolutely trashed.

Agree.

I read that he will be dismantling the Environmental Protection Agency as well. That will have an adverse ripple effect around the globe.

I think it may be a ploy to distract from the disappointing crowd. But ' it's a hell of a job running the USA, wonder who's doing it?' as someone said during Reagan's 2nd term.

Always the Chief of Staff

I’m looking forward to seeing Melania. As a fellow eastern euro, I know it’s hard to keep that smiling mask. I love it when she drops it and looks like she’s going to murder someone 😂

I can totally relate!!! hahahaa

Did you prefer the protests when Biden was democratically elected? January 6th, 2021 must have been right up your street.

Hmmm, how about threatening to 'take' Greenland/Canada/Panama? And rename the Gulf of Mexico? And have Elon Musk as his right hand twat?

And that's just for very starters.

No one actually believes he has any kind of real power so they?
I am terrified of whoever is manipulating this senile old man, however they are unlikely to be in evidence at the inauguration.

This.

Also, I watched the Obama first inauguration and it was a massive snooze-fest.

JD Vance is the source of some of the worst ideas. Vance would feel right at home in a Gilead Commander's uniform.

Hopefully they will stop men competing against women in sport and other arenas which will be one aspect of women rights that will improve?

'They' might well do this - and if they do, good - but don't think for a second that Trump and 'childless cat ladies' Vance are friends of women's rights. Their views on gender issues do not come from a protection of women and girls point of view, but from a deeply conservative one. One which will also curtail the rights of women and girls.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 18/01/2025 10:21

Ugh, no thanks. Quite apart from anything else, I find him truly physically repulsive.

It is a shame they have moved it indoors. Standing around in the freezing cold might have seen him off.

Wow....I'd hate to have your karma...

Trump was previously and will be far better for the US than than what Europe and UK has.

The Americans can look toward to something good while we have had and will continue to have a tanking economy, uncontrolled borders and unlimited immigration, out of control state spending, millions choosing not to work and an ever shrinking number of people supporting them, state sponsored mitigation of children in the name of trans rights, men in women’s spaces and gaslighting by the corrupt incompetent government.

If Trump is so brilliant at all of this, why didn't he do it all first time round?

Oh yeah, I mean....what kind of power could a multi millionaire upcoming president of America possibly have.....? 🤔

Tbh, the current president managed to lead the country for a full-term with clear signs of onset dementia, managed mainly by shadowy puppeteers, so if Trump is not totally mentally aware, the Democrats have set a presidense for this kind of leadership. Wonder if you also regarded Biden as 'a senile old man'?

On the side note, today's Financial Times cryptic crossword is definitely Themed and not in a way that is flattering to Trump

Targeting one state owned building is sooo much worse than burning down millions of family owned businesses and homes to you...? WOW.

Let's be honest, Biden won't know where he is or even what day it is, so will smile and be polite regardless. Just relieved that Biden will no longer have any powers. Its been a scarey few months since the election.

Great point, and one which trump fans never seem to have an answer for.

wonderstuff · 18/01/2025 10:35

I just don’t understand how the US went from Obama to Trump/Biden/Trump, there must be so many better leaders out there. I worry about the global environmental damage he will do. We’re in such a dire state already.
