And German politics and just focus on the President he’s already paid for and turning X into a toxic wasteland.

So who do you trust to conduct a 'proper' investigation?

Preferably by someone who doesn't have skin in the game!

Elon Musk has done a heroic thing in exposing this horrific scandal and bringing it to global attention, nobody can doubt that.

I think he crossed the line with what he said about Jess Phillips who I don't particularly like and has made ill advised comments of her own in the past. Calls herself a feminist but has done little to use her platform to protect these girls or get justice.

Jess Phillips has only been the safeguarding minister for six months and, when she was a backbench MP, she was one of the most persistent campaigners for justice for the victims.

User135644 · 05/01/2025 13:47

The Labour councils who kept it quiet. The Labour MP who said the girls should keep quiet for the sake of diversity. The inquiry where the findings were ignored. The abuse is still going on.

I agree that Musk crossed the line with what he said about Jess.

Considering they are now trying to get him on trumped up charges under the Terrorism Act for not giving over his pin number I would assume the money will go towards legal fees.

According to the prison he is also not in solitary confinement.
Not sure where you are getting that from. He most definitely is being kept in solitary and visitors are having to sign a NDA.

You are a bad faith poster

For some people, like Musk, the only thing that matters is throwing dirt at Keir Starmer and his government.

That’s pretty grim, right?

Well, no, not 'grim' at all. Just politics.

Frankly, I can't think of anything more 'grim' than a minor being anxlly rxped by multiple men. That's the issue here.

As an aside, though, would you mind anyone 'throwing dirt' if we still had a Tory govt? I suspect I already know the answer to that question...

Like who? Come on don't be shy and tell us who that is.

The IICSA was an independent investigation!

IICSA was a statutory inquiry for England and Wales, established in 2015 under the Inquiries Act 2005. Its independence meant that the Inquiry was not part of any government department.

Porcelainpig · 05/01/2025 13:50

I have always thought Musk was an immature, narcissistic twat. He is going a long way to prove it to everyone else too.

I don't get the worship for him. Take away his money and the fact he grew up with it, and what would he have achieved. He'd just be a keyboard warrior.

Can someone please invent a false catastrophic meteorite warning so all these billionaires smugly fuck off to another planet. We can send messages back to them saying it's awful on planet Earth and we are all resorting to cannibalism, and hopefully they won't come back.

littledrummergirls · 05/01/2025 13:50

The findings were ignored by the Conservative government, one of a multitude of reasons that they are no longer in government.
If Musk and his supporters truly wanted to help and support these girls, they would be helping and supporting Jess Phillips, one of the most supportive MPs of women and children that sits in Parliament.

Betchyaby · 05/01/2025 13:50

noblegiraffe · 05/01/2025 12:10

Which recommendations do you disagree with?

It isn't the recommendations that are the issue, it is the lack of investigation or naming and shaming of the individuals who allowed this to happen for so long.

Then why did you say Calls herself a feminist but has done little to use her platform to protect these girls or get justice.?

CandlesClementines · 05/01/2025 13:53

@littledrummergirls one of the victims laughed at kemi saying she's going to have an enquiry. She' said she's been trying to talk to them for 12 year's.
Another fighter said rishi didn't get it but suella did.

However rishi did have the tasks force initiated and they have made 400 arrests.

I was going to report this as you have made a vile slur against me.

But actually, best to let it stand. You have shown who you are.

Oh, I know I've shown who I am - I proudly support these rape survivors and any attempts to uncover failings in our justice system. As everyone should.
Have a good day.

Porcelainpig · 05/01/2025 13:55

Oh and I echo what others have said here. Labour have been in power properly for about 4/5 months (excluding summer recess). I'm not sure you can fix a country that has been on its arse for years in that time with no money. These people must think we have short memories. I won't forget what Farage and the Tories have done to this country and no amount of propaganda will convince me to forget. I am giving Labour a chance because the Tories and Farage don't deserve another one. I will judge at the next election. These people cannot play God with our politics. I, and everyone else can see it and won't vote for them.

No one said it was as grim as that, however using those poor girls to piss about on twitter throwing shade at Starmer is pretty despicable.

CandlesClementines · 05/01/2025 13:56

@noblegiraffe for one I've learned a hell of a lot more about all this since Elon tweet.

I know others on these threads have as well. Is that a bad thing??

Have you discovered more about this issue?

I would say: look at his record on highlighting the gangs grooming and raping children in his own country. I am happy to be proved wrong, but I fear all you would find is tumbleweed.

He hates Starmer and Labour and will do anything to smear them.

Edited

And look at his history with Epstein and Maxwell.

Dorisbonson · 05/01/2025 14:01

Billionaire businessman who employs tens of thousands of people across the world and has revolutionized several sectors. Not exactly a mug and has a broadly positive impact on the world no?

Id rather Musk gave a monkeys about the UK and took an interest than not.

I learned more in 2017 from watching the BBC programmes about it than from these threads, is my absolutely honest answer. And all the media reporting on the prosecutions.

Which is why I think there has been less of a ‘cover up’ and far more of ‘people not actually paying it any attention’ going on.

Edit: the one thing I learned more about was the horrific court details from the prosecution a decade ago, but that was on Twitter.

Yes we all know how different Labour are in government than they were in opposition and how they have changed their stance.

it reminds me of my SIL. Before she had kids she was full of parenting advice/criticism. Her kids are very badly behaved/loads of issues due to poor parenting by both her and my DB.
