And German politics and just focus on the President he’s already paid for and turning X into a toxic wasteland.

Always found Twitter or X a toxic place, not a fan of Elon ( or whatever his new name is) so I just deleted my account l. That way I can ignore most of his ramblings. 🤣.

CandlesClementines · 05/01/2025 13:18

@SerendipityJane
There was a police force.

They chose not to act and were directed not to act by the top.

It's throwing up a much bigger issue.

Does any government we' have in power: want to protect us.

In these cases historically and current that has pushed the homeless, uneducated, vulnerable further into the dirt

PandoraSox · 05/01/2025 13:08

Exactly. He has accused people of being paedophiles in the past (called someone "pedo guy"), just because he wanted to get one over on them.

Eta: Amazingly he won the defamation case against him.

Seriously, who cares who he is or what he's done 'in the past'!?
He's a globally influential public figure who's spoken out about the UK's response (or indeed lack of) to child rape gangs.
Surely EVERYONE should be pleased about that!?
That you're not is rather telling...

I don't really know what political capital Musk could make out of it? He's going to be in charge of government efficiency not foreign affairs. Also, for me, he's not commenting on British politics. He's commenting on a British crime. We comment on American crimes all the time. Jess Philips, Kier Starmer, Sadiq Khan, all had things to say in condemnation of the racist murder of George Floyd. And this isn't the murder of one person, but thousands of young lives destroyed and innocence annihilated. Of course I'd expect people from other countries to comment.

I just don't understand the outrage, because big businessmen and political figures from overseas comment on British affairs all the time and always have. George Soros famously donated millions to Remain during the Brexit campaign, that to me was much more of a clear example of foreign interference, and yes some Brexiters were angry but not to this extent.

I understand what you are saying, that people can be angry about two things at once, but I maintain that many posters on this and related threads honestly seem angrier at Musk than they do at the rapists and the supine people in authority who didn't bother to try to stop it all happening. And I maintain that I do not understand how any human being could reserve more anger for Musk, who is commenting, than the rapists themselves, who perpetrated.

Well if you don't understand after reading the thread, there's nothing else I can add.

If you want to accuse me of something, have the guts not to skirt around the issue. Come out and say it!

Meanwhile I will stay not pleased at the way Musk behaves in general and specifically not pleased at his using abused and traumatised people as a political football or at his comprising the safety of MPs.

100% this! 👏👏
Honestly, those condemning Musk for drawing attention to this subject is all rather disturbing...

CandlesClementines · 05/01/2025 13:28

@Jumpingthruhoops I'm glad it's got everyone talking about it and a generation who missed it but it's still going on girls are still still at Risk.

I already knew about it but I've learned so much more about it over these thread

Elon Musk has done a heroic thing in exposing this horrific scandal and bringing it to global attention, nobody can doubt that.

I think he crossed the line with what he said about Jess Phillips who I don't particularly like and has made ill advised comments of her own in the past. Calls herself a feminist but has done little to use her platform to protect these girls or get justice.

I've heard everything now. Elon Musk a hero. Fuck sake. He's a fucking coward using the trauma of women and children to further his ambition.

Then why did he not speak out 10 years ago, 5 years ago, 3 years ago? Why now? What has he done to help heal the trauma? What has he done to amplify it?

Hi, if you are talking about the Home Office circular, I obviously have no idea how or why that travesty happened.

If you have a look at Afzal's Twitter, he talks about the interpretation of para 22 by some officers.

Haven't accused you of anything. Just that, whatever you're reasoning for condemning Musk, your argument will always come across as though you are supporting Labour's stance and, in turn, these vile grooming gangs. Because that IS how you're coming across.
I'll say it again: it doesn't matter one iota WHO flagged this issue OR what their motives are.
The ONLY thing that matters is getting closure for rape survivors and their families. Obviously.

Same here. Honestly, the fact people on here seem more angry about Musk drawing attention to the issue is mind-blowing...

littledrummergirls · 05/01/2025 13:42

Labours stance is not supporting grooming gangs. This is a lie and disinformation. Wtf if you want to be seen to be debating in good faith, at least stopping posting lies.

Well our own political class and police have failed these girls and their families, so Musk is a hero for standing up and doing what our politicians didn't have the stones to do.

For some people, like Musk, the only thing that matters is throwing dirt at Keir Starmer and his government.

That’s pretty grim, right?

Silence is compliance. They kept it covered up.

I was going to report this as you have made a vile slur against me.

But actually, best to let it stand. You have shown who you are.

littledrummergirls · 05/01/2025 13:44

I don't think your political class (nice eastern phrase BTW, doesn't exist in Britain) would be able to intervene.

He wasn’t found guilty, he pleaded guilty.

Which must have pissed off all his followers who crowdfunded for him to fight the charges. I wonder what happened to that money.

According to the prison he is also not in solitary confinement. As he is a proven liar I am not convinced of his version of events here.

Considering they are now trying to get him on trumped up charges under the Terrorism Act for not giving over his pin number I would assume the money will go towards legal fees.

According to the prison he is also not in solitary confinement.
Not sure where you are getting that from. He most definitely is being kept in solitary and visitors are having to sign a NDA.

Tweets are cheap

Maybe this hero could use some of his billions to found a trauma clinic for children affected by sexual abuse
