Two friends this week have told me they get paid their wage when they finish work for Christmas (one tomorrow and one on Monday)
I get paid at the end of the month as always
I didn’t realise this was a thing?

Dh and I both got paid on the 17th.

Its all gone into the savings account; we’ll move it over on the 29th when we usually get paid as we have a budgeting system.

WillowTit · 20/12/2024 06:47

today

normally 24th

macshoto · 20/12/2024 06:49

Christmas Eve - always has been.

TheFairyCaravan · 20/12/2024 06:51

I don’t work due to illness but DH will get paid on the 31st. It’s always been that way, even when he was in the military. I would hate for him to get paid early, January is long enough already,

ilikeeggs · 20/12/2024 06:53

I get paid the last day of the month like normal so the 31st

Hippywannabe · 20/12/2024 07:15

Today plus the backdated payrise, normally paid on the 25th. I have put it into a different account until normal payday or else January seems to be really long. I will need to dip into the backdated bit but had budgeted in my head to do that for Xmas. Anything left from that bit on the 25th goes into savings.

BlackBean2023 · 20/12/2024 07:22

I got paid this morning, 6 days early. I've transferred it to a separate account with a transfer back scheduled for actual pay day.

Tinytigertail · 20/12/2024 07:22

We usually get paid on 25th but have been paid today (20th) which is useful for Christmas, but it's going to feel like a loooooong January!

DarkForces · 20/12/2024 07:24

Today! Usually the 21st

Sallyingon · 20/12/2024 07:29

Usually get paid the last Friday of the month. We are getting paid.on Monday instead.

AnyoneSomeone · 20/12/2024 07:29

Today but we also get paid a few days earlier in January so don't have to wait 6 weeks until the next pay day.

Soccermumamir · 20/12/2024 07:30

Today, but I won't be touching it.

nwsw · 20/12/2024 07:31

Some companies pay early because their accountants close over the Christmas period.

Cooriedoon · 20/12/2024 07:31

We all got given 3 dates to choose from. I chose our usual date, last day of the month. The young ones chose to get theirs 2 weeks early. I learned my lesson there in my youth!

Katemax82 · 20/12/2024 07:32

My husband gets paid 27th...it's kind of handy as if he got paid early it would be longer till next payday

PinkyFlamingo · 20/12/2024 07:32

It's normal in the NHS where I work, can make January a 5 week month usually though.

JaninaDuszejko · 20/12/2024 07:35

We get paid a week early in December, I'm guessing for payrolls benefit rather than ours. What always surprises me about it is that so many people then complain that January feels long. I work in a high paying industry and live in a cheap part of the country and yet people are clearly living payday to payday. I'm hoping it's just one of those things people say rather than them not having savings to fall back on during one of the most expensive times of year.

Dandylione · 20/12/2024 07:43

Normally get paid on the 27th got it on the 18th this month which seems very early.

popandchoc · 20/12/2024 07:47

Normally get paid on the 25th but got paid on the 19th. Is better than when i used to get paid at end of month and get paid early as was longer to wait then.

MrsSethGecko · 20/12/2024 07:48

Same as usual, 23rd of the month.

greengreyblue · 20/12/2024 07:49

Usually early but not this year which I am very glad about. Hate the 6 week wait until Jan pay day.

fungibletoken · 20/12/2024 07:50

We get paid a week early, and same at my previous company in the same industry. But we're all fixed hours, no shift work etc. which must make it easier to administer.

Natsku · 20/12/2024 07:51

We get paid on the 5th of the month every month so Christmas isn't an issue but if we normally got paid around that time I am sure it'd follow the usual rule of coming the last working day before the holiday.

JaceLancs · 20/12/2024 07:51

We get paid today - I would rather it was next Friday but we took a vote and most people wanted to be paid before Xmas

JohnMcClanesVest · 20/12/2024 07:51

23rd instead of 25th
