When do you get paid your Christmas wage?

Two friends this week have told me they get paid their wage when they finish work for Christmas (one tomorrow and one on Monday)
I get paid at the end of the month as always
I didn’t realise this was a thing?

Apparently it's a real pain to authorise payroll over the holiday, so that's the main reason.

@noworklifebalance but that also needed to buy Christmas gifts, pay for Christmas dinner, works dos, school events, etc etc etc

Tomorrow instead of 28th. I don't like being paid early so I transfer it into a different account then pay it back to myself on usual pay day! It messes up my brain having it early 😅

DH got paid yesterday, the 18th. It's normally the 25th.

Mine is also the 25th but nothing showing in my bank yet so not sure when it'll arrive.

I get paid a week early.
Makes for a very long January!

I don’t disagree that it’s an expensive time but , if you salary is the same each month, I don’t understand why being paid a week earlier makes a difference.

Would usually be the last Friday but they've brought it forward to the 20th this month, then January comes forward a week too to have two five-week months.

It's the first Christmas I've worked for this company, they time the annual bonus to be paid in December's wage which is really helpful and will cushion the blow of two five-weekers.

Not if you budget / save for Christmas all year. It's not a surprise event!

I think the point being made originally is there’s 11 other months to think about it all and plan for it.

Nhs worker here - I've worked at a few different hospitals and the date seems to be different every year, but it is always an early pay day in December. This month it's 20th (would usually be about a week later)

I get paid weekly every Friday, so I'll get paid tomorrow as normal.

We get paid a week early.

I get paid on the 5th so there will be no change. HQ is in Hong Kong so they're not observing Christmas.
If Chinese New Year falls around pay day we'll get paid a bit early.

When I worked for a UK company our Dec salary would be paid a week early. It was good, but a long old drag to the end of Jan.

In my current job we get double salary end of Jan as a bonus.

I much prefer my current job - for that any many other reasons!

Was paid yesterday, not sure why when the usual 23rd is not a holiday, I know one colleague did ask payroll if we were to be paid earlier so I knew this was happening, but to me it just means a longer period until next paid, it wasn't announced it was being paid earlier.

Luckily DH and me are both paid at more random times in the month. His is always the 21st (weird) and there was one memorable December he was not paid in time. Was a bit of a disaster as we were actually out Xmas shopping and bumped into a colleague who told him!

Wages went in 27th in the end but I had to call the bank and arrange a temp overdraft which worked out in the end but it was a stressful time. The accountant was a total flake ( I knew her personally)
I know some people appreciate being paid early bit it must make for such a miserable January- it is such a long month!

Every workplace I’ve ever been pay early in December (tomorrow for us).

We also pay a bit early in Jan then Feb is normal.

Yep get paid Monday 23rd, 4 days early. Wish they just left it at 27th TBH. Surprised it’s not tomorrow as I’m sure it’s usually the Friday before Xmas?

I am paid monthly, so not a wage, but, my salary was paid today. Normally last Thursday of the month.

Usually last day of the month, it is Fri 20th this Christmas (when we also close until 2nd Jan).

My son will get paid on the last working day of the month as usual. I think I was paid the last working day before Christmas, though that did mean it was a long wait til next one!

Paid today then in January they bring it forward another week so works out 2 x 5 weeks until end of Feb, it’s great!
