To think very few actors can act drunk convincingly?

Just that really, especially on soaps. They just don’t seem to be able to do it convincingly. Can anyone act drunk convincingly without actually getting drunk?

I've seen Sh!t Faced Shakespeare a few times, and they're absolutely not. Great concept, but they can't pull it off imo.

Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchell) seems to play drunk extremely well, can’t deny it

Michael Caine described it as not acting drunk, but trying to act as if you are extremely sober (or something along those lines).

The worst drunk acting I've seen was Daphne's brother in Frasier. Complete ham.

Hugh Jackman in The Prestige acted drunk quite well.
Nicholas Cage in Leaving Las Vegas - heartbreakingly so.

Especially when they went to the rave and Martin Clunes barffed on the camera. That episode was so funny.

I heard someone say that in an interview recently. They were being praised for their drunk acting, I think despite them not ever drinking alcohol in real life, and said this advice.
