XL bully shot

louisbalfournice · 07/12/2024 19:40

Local XL bully shot today. The owner is saying on social media that the dog was harmless but I've seen it go for a a small child before. Why are these dogs 'harmless" until they injure or kill

I disagree, it looks like a sweet pupster, it has lovely colouring and it is absolutely NOT its fault it has been bred the way it has and has no choice in the way it acts due to its breeding. HUMANS are to blame as to why it is wired to react so badly.

Having said that, I don't think this breed should exist and I sadly do think they should all be euthanised because they are very unpredictable and are so large that they can kill without thought, even if an individual seems lovely.

Humans are to blame, but these devil dogs turn on a hair trigger. They can't help it and they should not be bred or kept as pets

MugPlate · 07/12/2024 23:11

Why won't you just say the breed.

Because it's a pretty rare breed and potentially outing.

StrawberryDream24 · 07/12/2024 23:19

a demonised breed.

Such hyperbole.

Recognising that certain breeds crop up on the deaths & serious injuries lists most often and acknowledging that they are probably unsuited to being pets is not "demonising" them.

Name calling is unnecessary

I know it is I've been called all sorts tonight.

I was talking about the dogs.

Dweetfidilove · 07/12/2024 23:25

This news has pleased me greatly. In fact, I'm happy for them to shoot all and any they come across, along with any other deadly breeds.

Charlize43 · 07/12/2024 23:26

I'd like to see a law passed that all dogs are muzzled in public.

ScorpioRising83 · 07/12/2024 23:17

Which poster? I lost track of the insults a while ago.

You've instantly forgotten quoting a poster as her saying "chauvinistic" and showing your amusement at that with a laughing emoji, when she'd actually said "chavtastic" .......

and when she corrected you, accusing MN of being classist.

You forgot all about that within half an hour?

Well, I suppose since you've lost track of what day of the week it is, it might be possible that you instantly forget exchanges too.

And the point still stands that you don't "skim" posters who insult you - you read their posts and quote them.

Potating · 07/12/2024 23:27

Good. They all need to be shot.

StrawberryDream24 · 07/12/2024 23:30

ScorpioRising83 · 07/12/2024 23:19

Then why would you specify only bitches?

You've called posters who disagree with you "bullies" repeatedly on this thread anyway. Bit too late to try this line.

(People who disagree with you aren't bullies btw).

No pets that could kill an adult? So no mastiffs then? No German shepherds? Rottweilers?

Apparently they have more pet tigers in Texas than in all the zoos in all the world. I learned that recently but I've never seen any pearl clutching about it.

My alsation wouldn't have been able to kill anything (she was very small for her breed and timid)

Tess150, or totally thick !!!

StrawberryDream24 · 07/12/2024 23:36

You don't seem to understand the meaning of the phrase "pearl clutching".

But anyway, why exactly would posters on a predominantly British site be getting up in arms about dangerous exotic pets in a US state?

How would it ever affect them, unless they went on holiday to Texas?
Which is unlikely, now that the pet tiger issue has been highlighted on MN - as if the gun control issue wasn't off-putting enough.

But anyway - pet tigers in Texas, in a thread about XL bullies in the UK; is this a "most irrelevant reference" competition?

StrawberryDream24 · 07/12/2024 23:38

It's just that I've been bombarded with abuse page after page

If true, why do you think that is?

StrawberryDream24 · 07/12/2024 23:41

the ill-tempered, means bullshit

Is that supposed to be "ill-tempered, mean bullshit"?

I don't think anyone was ill-tempered until they read your posts.

And you do realise that while you consider their posts "bullshit", the reverse is true (and no less valid).

StrawberryDream24 · 07/12/2024 23:42

It's about time I politely asked you to push off, isn't it?

You don't really get online forums, do you?

Pussycat22 · 07/12/2024 23:44

mrsrabbit3, and that's just the owner !!!!

StrawberryDream24 · 07/12/2024 23:44

Because you're just bitching for the sake of bitching, now.

Pointing out the many flaws and fallacies in your posts is not "bitching".

You seem to have a fixation on the words bitch and bitching.

Posters who disagree with you are"bully bitches".

Posters who point out inconsistencies and fallacies in your posts are "bitching".

Do you think you have internalised misogyny.

Toddlertantrums222 · 07/12/2024 23:45

Winter2020 · 07/12/2024 20:15

Jesus F.ing Christ - you’ve met terriers that you think could kill you? What a load of F.ing nonsense.

😂😂

StrawberryDream24 · 07/12/2024 23:47

you've sunk your teeth in and you just won't let go...a bit like the breed of dog we are discussing..

So you acknowledge the breed has exceptional tenacity while biting (on top of its extremely strong bite).

Thatcastlethere · 07/12/2024 23:50

Genuinely think anyone who purposefully chooses to own one of these dogs has mental issues..
I understand there might be exceptions such as inheriting one due to the death of a relative or adopting one as a rescue..
But people who actively choose to buy these aggressive dogs are honestly either complete idiots or so deeply alienated from society, insecure and paranoid as to amount to mental illness.
Like people in America who hoard guns.
Unhinged.

Bootychoice · 07/12/2024 23:56

Good. Pure evil incarnate these dogs

Puffinlamb23 · 07/12/2024 23:58

ScorpioRising83 · 07/12/2024 19:58

I've met tiny terriers that have scared me more than most of the XL bullies I've met.

It's not the breed it's the owners. XLBs are popular with roadmen for defensive purposes.

Not an XL, but the best dogs I've ever met were staffies.

Oh yes, all those widely reported deaths caused by terriers... Are you actually this stupid?!

If humans were bred to be a certain way this could happen too. I think the concept of dog breeds is the cause of the issue, they aren’t decorative pieces.
