XL bully shot

Local XL bully shot today. The owner is saying on social media that the dog was harmless but I've seen it go for a a small child before. Why are these dogs 'harmless" until they injure or kill

It's interesting that someone who points out the (many) fallacies in your posts is "manic".

Have I been upgraded from "bitching" now?
Are all the posters you accused of being "bully bitches" going to get an upgrade too.

"Manic" ... coming from someone who doesn't know what day it is.

StrawberryDream24 · 08/12/2024 00:07

I'm pretty sure the banned pit bull is in fact a terrier..

And how many people do other breeds of terriers kill every year?

StrawberryDream24 · 08/12/2024 00:10

I'm not going to debate with people who call me names

What, like "bully bitches".

How do you know? Do you live in Texas?

She'd certainly fit right in there.

StrawberryDream24 · 08/12/2024 00:16

US records til '98 (will look for post '98 too).

Rather obvious.

You can also shove off..

Most of the thread would have to shove off.

And that wouldn't be very democratic.

If the owner was going to be prosecuted for anything relating to it, you've just ensured they can't be guaranteed a fair trial, as any jury member could have seen the photo and read your claims.

Well done.

How does one post on a random forum mean a fair trial can't be guaranteed?

SagittariusDwarf · 08/12/2024 00:22

louisbalfournice · 07/12/2024 20:01

It's not local to me but this city sadly seems to have had a fair few of these incidents

but in your first post you say it is local?

There are, we just don't read about it in the news because it doesn't sell papers.

Media bias feeding a hysteria. A vicious circle (Scuse the pun)

There aren’t. That’s just the claim stated by bully apologists.Look on social media and it’s all over them.

I've met tiny terriers that have scared me more than most of the XL bullies I've met.

It's not the breed it's the owners. XLBs are popular with roadmen for defensive purposes.

Not an XL, but the best dogs I've ever met were staffies.

I’ve never taught my whippet to chase rabbits, but it sure as shit does.

"US organisation DogsBite.org, a group that advocates for dog attack victims, conducted a multi-year report published in 2018 that recorded more than a decade of fatal incidents across the Atlantic.
The group compiled data from more than 400 cases from 2005 to 2017 in which a dog killed a human and found the 10 most dangerous breeds.
Of the 435 in total, the group found that one dog, the pit bull, was associated with the most deaths. The study found that the breeds were responsible for 284 deaths - well over half the total. The sum translates to roughly 65.6 percent, making pit bulls the most dangerous breed by far inside the dataset.

Rottweilers, another breed with a bad reputation, came second but were associated with 241 fewer deaths.Of the recorded attacks Rottweilers were responsible for 45, which translates to 10.4 percent of the total.

German Shepherds ranked third with fewer than half the number of associated fatalities."

The more recent US stats appear consistent with the older US (AVMA) stats ..... Pit bull dominates, followed by quite a drop to Rottweiler, followed by (another considerable drop) German Shepherd.

It's also taken from the owners social media so it's already "out there" and accessible

The people who once had ill-treated german shepherds, then dobermans and then had rottweilers now have XL bullies. Dobermans and rottweilers are no longer a fashionable breed among the - what can I say? - gansta class? That's why you don't hear about them anymore.

Anyone buying a dog like that, one that breaks increasingly expanding ideas of acceptability in terms of power and aggression, is totally part of a gangster class IMO. It's the equivalent of gun-bearing in a society that doesn't allow you to bear guns.

Do piss off .
Yorkies can't kill you.
How is that beyond your capacity to understand?

Louise303 · 08/12/2024 02:27

All xl bullys should be put down there is no safe one the attacks will keep happening. I know what it feels like to be attacked by an alsation when I was 12 it went up on hind legs from behind and went for my neck tore a thick coat I had on in pieces this is what saved me. I know the power of them but nobody would have a chance if a bully attacked the power behind them and once they lock on you have no chance. It's not just about bad owners they are bred to fight and the tiniest thing can set them off. The Alsatian that attacked me was a rescue from a dogs home and I had been walking it for months. It got jealous because I was showing attention to a friends baby brother and attacked me. Thankfully it went for me and not the baby.

I'm not sure about Rottweilers but all the German Shepherds I have known were well behaved animals. A vet told me that they always gave you plenty of warning of an impending bite. I suppose this was because they were bred as shepherds to protect the flock rather than being fighting dogs.

blubberball · 08/12/2024 06:06

I love animals, but children's safety comes first. These dogs just aren't suitable pets. They're so inbred and messed up. They're just too powerful an animal to have as a pet. Pets shouldn't be so massive and capable of killing people.

Pinkpurpletulips · 08/12/2024 06:07

I have just seen @Louise303's post. That must have been terrifying. There may have been a reason why that dog was a rescue though.

The only dog that ever bit me as a child was a corgi and I've never liked them since. As an adult I realised the dog was just trying to herd me by giving me a nip in the heels mistaking me for a Welsh sheep.

I read the background to XL bullies, shame you didn't.

I await your multiple illogical, irrelevant, off topic, unbalanced replies (and of course offensive comments and failed attempts at being witty & pithy).

Poster after poster after poster has reacted with mind boggled derision to your post giving opinions re. which breed of dogs you feel more threatened by and why ...... It's now double figures. You're accusing multiple people of bullying you and insulting you. Does it ever occur to you why you're in this position in this thread?

StrawberryDream24 · 08/12/2024 07:27

(Oh and you repeatedly trying to label a poster "manic" because they're challenging you; smacks of desperation and gas lighting. Do you think if you keep saying that, anyone on this thread will believe it?
No-one's buying what you're selling.
What did you think would be the outcome of you calling them "bully bitches" (and of all your other posts throughout the thread).

OctoberOctopus · 08/12/2024 08:20

Winter2020 · 07/12/2024 22:34

You're right the attacks don't always mean death. Sometimes they are "just" injured.

Here are pictures of a 12 year old in Wales injured by an XL Bully whose parents wanted her injuries to be seen to publicise the danger of these dogs.

It is extremely graphic. Don't click if you don't want to see it.

Wow that's awful. Most breeds couldn't inflict that amount of damage. Vile attack animals.
