Goodbye to any hope of peace and safety for the world, or saving the climate, women’s rights and ending racism.
Poor Ukraine will be the first casualty.
Putin will be breaking out the vodka and caviar today.

Yes to all of that.

Although what scares me more than anything is that the way trump has changed how politics done in America is an existential threat to democracy in the most powerful country in the world.

Katemax82 · 06/11/2024 10:09

Don't be ridiculous how bad was it last time?

The world has changed since then and the people around Trump have changed, I'm really worried about the consequences

CrazyCatLady008 · 06/11/2024 10:18

Don't be silly, they said this last time Trump got into power it actually went tits up when he got voted out!

jeaux90 · 06/11/2024 10:21

JFC, let me remind you that Biden removed the title IX protections for girls on his first day in office, did nothing about reversing abortion restrictions.

Were they great for women? No. Will Trump be? Doubt it.

PlumViper · 06/11/2024 10:23

well trump for the win, do people still presume democracy is the best option for choosing a leader ?

Aconite20 · 06/11/2024 10:25

Better rewatch the Handmaid's Tale as that's almost certainly where we're going now. Amongst other dark dystopian visions of the future. And it won't just be the next four years either, the orange madman will almost certainly abolish elections and install some kind of hereditary presidency so his equally horrible sons can continue his insanity when he finally trots off to meet his maker.

( Only half joking.)

LostTheMarble · 06/11/2024 10:27

I despise Trump as a human, but honestly there are no good opinions for politicians right now. They’re all mouth pieces for people with actual power, it doesn’t matter who gets in, the majority of everyday joes will suffer. All politicians are good at are causing an ‘us vs them’ mentality and using it to their advantage.

maybe the public may realise they need to choose more wiser or study the candidate's better etc when voting

We will testing the validity of the MAD doctrine rather soonish.

that would be intriguing especially the aspect of a nuclear winter

TinkerTiger · 06/11/2024 10:33

I mean I'm upset that Trump won but really he's been there before and no wall has yet been built. The man just chats shit.

Watching to see how he's going to 'end' the wars in Ukraine and Gaza 💁🏽‍♀️

Blueblue92 · 06/11/2024 10:34

These alarmist fantasies are fascinating

It was Trump’s own ex staff from the first term saying this!

VivianLea · 06/11/2024 10:43

Come off it, it's not like Boden was stellar against Putin now was it?

He will do it by agreeing with Putin to keep the territories in the Ukralne that he has already won.Trump will say that Ukraine then won the war when in reality we all know Russia won. And China will be watching closely. Putin will then continue to test the borders of other countries such as Finland and Sweden, to see what he can get away with. While producing more weapons than most other countries can keep up with atm. It’s not looking good for the world.

lasagnelle · 06/11/2024 10:43

What's he going to do to Ukraine?

Reading this transported me straight back to 2016. We survived then, we'll survive now.

orangegato · 06/11/2024 10:44

Yeah cause democrats fixed any of that shit in the last 4 years 😂

Didimum · 06/11/2024 10:47

I'm quite enjoying the break from Labour and private school threads at least.

Trump does not have the influence or power to agree a country's boundaries. No head of state does. He can withdraw support is all he can do.

What's the working alternative to democracy? You get in to moral absolutism there, which is no good.

Yep. That's getting tedious now!
