Goodbye to any hope of peace and safety for the world, or saving the climate, women’s rights and ending racism.
Poor Ukraine will be the first casualty.
Putin will be breaking out the vodka and caviar today.

The USA has always promised to protect Taiwan. It's how it still exists as a country now.

I suppose you'd prefer Putin to police the world instead.

Do you think the USA should have stayed out of WWII as well?

but then this is where chaos theory or the butterfly effect happens, if you take out one dictator etc who's to say the next one is worse, its like taking out Genghis khan and the empire gets someone worse etc

A friend of mine, who is quite switched on when it comes to US politics posted this today and it has given me hope, hopefully it does the same for you.

"Watching a con-artist/cult leader tighten his grip on millions, in the spotlight, in real time, is sickening.

But he's 78 years old. And no one likes Vance.

And in four years, Vance is going to be in the exact same place Harris is today. Running for "re-election" on someone else's record. Right as he comes face to face with the buzzsaw of talent that is Buttigieg, Newsom, Whitmer, Jeffries, Warnock, and Harris, along with many others.

His podcast sheister routine will get him nowhere.

No one can do what Trump does. He's done it his entire life. And everyone else who tries to clone his style fails. I can't explain it. But I see it.

We may still take the House, which would mean next to no major Trump bills get through in the next two years. And even if we don't, it's close enough they'll need bipartisan appeal to get anything through. Lots of blue state Republican representatives who get squeamish when you start talking about the Department of Education or USDA.

Trump had the White House, Senate, and House from 2016-2018 and did next to nothing with it. Just ask him about John McCain.

We need two years. We need the filibuster. We need moderate House Republicans. We need Trump to golf as much as possible, his ego placated by his big win. Then we ride the pendulum, hang Trump's record on Vance, and crush in 2028 with a new wave of voters.

It's the only thing we can do -- so let's do it."

while successors like Vance may lack Trump's charisma, dismissing them outright overlooks how Trumpism has shifted the Republican Party’s ideological foundation.

I don't think it shifted the foundations though. Trump is a good con man and most people are quite stupid, so they fell for it. Not all politician's are able to manipulate the people so well. Also, I think a lot of Republicans sided with him bc he's a petty child who would fire anybody who disagrees with him. Just look at the people he bullied, Christy, Cruz, Haley, etc. They all bit their tongues and supported him not bc they wanted to but bc they had to. I mean, it's not hard to see that he's a moron, he can't even complete a sentence without messing up multiple words, they couldn't think he was qualified. So once he's gone, and let's hope that is soon, the party will shift significantly, imo. And even if they don't, Trump's idiotic policies will likely ruin the country and economy, the Hispanics who voted for him will get what they asked for with mass deportations, people will learn what tariffs actually mean for their bank accounts, and women will start dying in large numbers due to lack of medical care. All of these things will work against him and the party. Republicans are not known for leaving the country in a good state, they always inherit a good economy and ruin it, then the Democrats come in and fix it.

Yup. Lots of either very naive people or closet Trumpers will try to naysay you but you are spot on.
America; we are the land of FREEDOM.
Oh, your freedom? No, no, we don't give a flying fuck about that, only the freedom of gun toting straight white men and their lackey wives. And not really the wives, that's just pretend.

My thoughts exactly!

What the hell has Johnnie Boden done about Putin?! Bloody nothing! Too busy with his sodding jersey dresses.

Right useless damp squib he turned out to be.
