There's something weird going on in my house

horseHorseHorse · 19/10/2024 23:31

For the last couple of weeks I've been noticing lights on when I come in when I'm 100% sure I've turned them off. Milk out on the side when I'm sure it's been put away. Stuff moved around but not in an obvious way, just a "huh, I could have sworn I left that somewhere else."

Put it down to rushed mornings and my cats playing with stuff.

Been out most of the day, just went into the upstairs bathroom for the first time since this morning and there's blood on the loo tank. Thought it could have come from a cat bringing something in but the door has been closed all day, and it's on the third floor so it's not like they could have got in and out like that. Windows have been closed too.

I have already bought carbon monoxide detectors in addition to the wired in ones. They're all over the house but haven't picked anything up.

Have a loft but the hatch is tiny and doesn't seem to have been disturbed.

Have an internal camera which shows the front door and hall - no activity though it did show my dog going bonkers barking at something outside a couple of times today (though the external camera isn't up yet so I couldn't see what)

Only direct family have keys and they wouldn't do stuff like this. Will be changing the locks tomorrow!

I'm properly creeped out ATM! Husband will be back shortly from work thank god! I'm in the bedroom with the door wedged shut for the moment!

Please someone give me a rational explanation!

That is not my fault. I didn't force the police to come out, or exaggerate the situation. I simply explained what I had here and they decided to send someone out.

Did you mention the blood-spattered bathroom? Or did you say 'teeny reddish-brown specks'?

I said something like " the loo has bloody flecks on top of the cistern."

Dedpite the bit of fun a lot of people are having here we're all genuinely trying to help @horseHorseHorse solve this mystery.

OP, please ask your sister as well.

They stick fake chimneys on sometimes for aesthetics. But yeah, nobody's coming down one.

You have a flue fitted instead. I have one for my gas fire. My house was built in the 90’s with no chimney

User100000000000 · 20/10/2024 19:17

@horseHorseHorse It's definitely your sister. There's quite literally no other explanation. None?

Can I ask, what does being ND have to do with joking? You said she's ND and wouldn't do it as a joke? I just want to point out that ND people definitely do joke around & play pranks as my DD is ND and she loves nothing more than pranking me! She's gonna be the death of me, I swear! 🤣

My instant reaction, because I'm very into this stuff, is a very powerful spiritual entity that you need rid of. But if you're not into that stuff then I'm sure there's some more logical hopefully less creepy reason, but I would be cleansing the shit out of that house

You said gas fires have died out, which isn’t true. Houses without chimneys can have gas fires too.

When did gas fires die out? Mine is still going strong as is the one my parents have, have we all missed the memo?

Haven't RTFT so I don't know if anyone has suggested this: OP, do any of your neighbours have cctv/a doorbell camera that would show someone accessing your property?

Are you joking? I’m an architect and we definitely do!

Not her. I'd swear on my life. For one, she hates any sort of practical joke and doesn't touch anything that doesn't belong to her without a direct invitation. She also doesn't go upstairs without a direct invitation.

Unfortunately not! Nothing on mine today either but we've been very obviously in all day. (Lights on, cars on the drive)

I googled new build houses near me and looked through the images, is this not a three storey house with a chimney?

Nooo... Oh God the idea of a rat popping up in my bathroom has really creeped me out, just in a totally new way! 🤢

my friend had this in a rented flat. turns out a previous tennent who was now homeless but still had a key was using it when she was out at work. she came home early to find a man asleep in her bed. He left with no hassle though 😬 (when they changed the locks, landlord said he’d do hers favour and charge her for it…)
