Wynn Evans and Katya Jones “hand incident”

What is everyone’s view on this? Have spoken to a couple of Strictly fans at work about the seemingly inappropriate touching of Katya by Wynne and am massively disappointed that many think it was harmless and the reaction is disproportionate.

Just sick of pervy men! He did it on camera! He only cared about getting a quick thrill

Most of the strictly couples hug each other and put hands round waists . I think this is being blown up out of all proportion.

His hand is in the middle of her torso though!

It was no worse than any other touching between couples I’ve seen in the Clauditorium. I think there’s an undercurrent of ageism about the SM outrage.

I think it’s very clear she finds him repulsive.

He had his hand on her stomach.

If he'd had it on her breast, bum or pubic area I could understand the fuss.

Yes, the way she leapt up at him and wrapped her legs round him when they were voted through to next week makes that so clear... 🙄

I have big boobs. That hand would have felt uncomfortably close to my breasts. There is no way that that incident and the not high-fiving him were ‘inside jokes’…

Not seen it, but from what you describe it is awful.

I am consciously not watching the show, it should end at the very least in its current format.

If he were a gentleman he would place his hand on her shoulder, to me he is quite clearly copping a feel

They posted on Instagram apologising and saying it was just a joke. All looked rather forced and insincere to me.

Katya has quirky sense of humour. I can well believe the joke.

I hate the whole "Claudatorium" part of strictly. So forced.

What can they do? The could put him out of the competition but she would lose out then too.

The issue is that she moved his hand away. Not that he had his hand there in the first place-that's kind of par for the course. I know him slightly-he was a friend of my borther's. I have to say if I was capable of surprise about men's behaviour, I would be surprised about him. But I'm not....

His hand was fine where it started, but him moving it was deliberate, and her firmly moving it made it clear it was unwelcome.

Why would he do it on live TV? Because for some men getting away with stuff like that in plain sight is part of the thrill (how many women wouldn’t have had the confidence to move his hand while on live TV?).

It was creepy the way the hand slid round. I don't know how that could be a joke but maybe I just have a weird sense of humour. The high 5 thing I can kinda get as a joke, as my kids leave me hanging all the time as a joke.

I love strictly but if everything is going to be scrutinised like this they need to change it. Maybe only have the contestant who has just danced up with Claudia and everyone else is backstage. I'm sure it used to be like that. Then you won't have all this going on.

All the couples seem to hug, have hands on thighs while sitting, arms around shoulders, faces in close proximity and kissing cheeks, etc. I often wonder what their significant others think about it all. But for goodness sake they also dance right pushed together (no gapping as they say), legs between legs, any and every body part touching at different times. if you were a prude it would pretty much all be unseemly. And the costumes don't leave much to the imagination.

Just picking on Wynn because he isn't love's young dream like a lot of the pros and contestants seems really unfair. I think he's doing a fantastic job not even taking into account he's not so young and rather fat.

I made the decision this year to not watch which is a shame as I have always loved the show.
I do think Katya’s instinct took over here - I watched the clip. He says he’s upset.
There has always been so much waist holding, hand holding, jumping into partner’s arms. I suppose now we view through a different lens which is probably a warped one.
Everyone on the show is under constant scrutiny now, it’s just tedious.

The not-high-fiving thing genuinely is an inside joke though, they've done it every single week.

The other stuff, dunno. He was very obviously standing with his arms crossed or behind him on the results show, and she specifically gave him permission to hug her when they were declared safe so either she or the producers had clearly read him the Riot Act during the break.

Exactly! He was banking on her not having the nerve to push him away in front of everyone.
