Wynn Evans and Katya Jones “hand incident”

Can’t see a thread on this.

What is everyone’s view on this? Have spoken to a couple of Strictly fans at work about the seemingly inappropriate touching of Katya by Wynne and am massively disappointed that many think it was harmless and the reaction is disproportionate.

Just sick of pervy men! He did it on camera! He only cared about getting a quick thrill

If Katya’s partner was young and hot would she have minded him placing his hand on her torso? I think not.

And that’s Katya’s bloody prerogative.

You've evidently made up your mind about the situation, given your choice of words and I doubt if you're particularly interested in a range of viewpoints.
FWIW I think the media have been delighted to get people worked up. If the BBC feel he's done wrong they can throw him off the show. If I were him I'd be considering walking.

If the BBC feel he's done wrong they can throw him off the show.

Because the BBC are well known for dealing with predators correctly 🤨

She wasn’t being groped, stop exaggerating, he had his hand on her waist just like all the other celebrities!

His hand started off on her waist just like all the others. He then slid it around to the front which was clearly unacceptable to Katya and she stopped it. Why shouldn't she put a stop to that if she personally feels uncomfortable with it?

It’s ridiculous to single this one incident out when everyone up there was kissing and hugging, they do it every week, and I don’t for one minute think Wynne was deliberately doing anything offensive. It’s typical Social Media once again destroying some’s life in a moment of time.
I think Wynne will end up leaving and it’s a real shame, it’s not the first time Katya has caused trouble on Strictly, maybe time for her to leave.

Katya causing trouble and should leave? Yeah, little tart making men paw her.

FWIW I didn’t like her antics with that Seann bloke and I don’t particularly like her, but no one should have to put up with sexual harassment.

chipsewfast · 14/10/2024 16:11

I hate the way they are all touchy feely on the sofa on ST2. I get they're in close contact when acting/performing but in RL, just no

twilightcafe · 14/10/2024 16:11

It looked a bit bloody handsy to me.

I must be thick but I don't get the joke?

Can anyone explain it to me?

There's no joke to get IMO.

It's a coverup for a man once again in plain sight thinking that he has the right to touch a woman's body without her consent.

The “joke” is a complete red herring and distracting from the real offence. Yes, they made a separate joke (the high five). The groping is a separate issue.

Because it doesn’t fit in with the MN narrative that all men are beasts

Exactly. This looks like a mega fuss about nothing.

Are the ratings falling on this show? Seems like a stunt to me, everyone reacts and they come out and say it was a joke all along. Hmmm.

Yes I reckon it’s a publicity stunt, it’s not even funny so can’t see how it was a joke. The show is seriously cringe and boring now, I used to love strictly but the whole thing just gives me the creeps now. I can’t watch anymore.

TizerorFizz · 14/10/2024 16:14

She’s had hands everywhere in her dancing career! It’s utterly ludicrous and if a dancer is lifted above the head they are held by the torso.Rhey are used to be touched. What would she do if a lift went wrong? Probably nothing. No one wearing next to nothing as a professional dancer minds a hand where he put his hand. There’s hugging, holding, and many other intimate moments on this show but we now honestly believe this was sinister?

If he walks, the conspiracy theorists have won. I’d just have women dancing with women and we can all switch off.

No she shouldn’t put up with sexual harassment, I agree.
But him putting his hand on her waist in the context of Strictly where everyone hugs and kisses was not sexual harassment, he probably wasn’t even thinking about at all in all the mayhem that goes on up there!

I wish somebody would stop Tess. Totally.

I agree. I’ve always wondered why this was the case. It’s very un-British!

When their dance finished on Saturday she jumped on him and wrapped her legs around him.
When talking to Tess and the judges, she's got both of her hands around his, lays her head against his chest and rubs his chest a lot so although she can of course be uncomfortable and stop him from touching her if she wants to, she is VERY tactile with him in a way that could also be seen as inappropriate.

The difference is that a dance is choreographed and she knows where hands will be placed and consents to that. Doesn't mean she consents to being touched whenever someone decides to touch her outside of the dancing.

They posted on Instagram apologising and saying it was just a joke. All looked rather forced and insincere to me.

They were referring to the high five

Dotto · 14/10/2024 16:23

It doesn't matter where someone's hands have been before. She clearly doesn't like his hand creeping across her belly in that intimate manner.

bergamotorange · 14/10/2024 16:24

AutumnalNamechange · 14/10/2024 15:10

Meaning she really doesn’t want to rock the boat and BBC to get rid of her, destroying her career, so please could everyone ignore the perv and concentrate on the dancing.

I think this is unfair on Katya.
If we listen to women, then we listen to women.

The BBC would really struggle (and quite right too!) to 'get rid of her' in the current environment if she reported something about her partner.
