To feel slightly suspicious of dp

Hi, I'm looking to know would YOU be suspicious? I'm not really suspicious but maybe a bit slightly?

So, dp works for his dads business and has for the last 10 years. Dp doesn't start work until 9. Usually he would set an alarm for 8:30 which sounds really late but his workplace is a 2 minute drive from our home. And he's really easy going 🤣. His dad doesn't drive but a workmate would always collect him.

About a month ago dp started setting alarms at 6.45-7:15 getting up and leaving the house within 10 mins of those alarms. (Extremely early from before) I've been with dp 5 years he's never up that early for work.

He says it's because he's starting to give his dad a lift to work every morning. His mum and dad live a 5 minute drive from our home. That's not too suspicious. But the thing that's making me go 🤨 is he's leaving home in the mornings in his normal clothes. He says he gets ready in his parents house just before he leaves for work as it's easier?

He has a specific work uniform. He would always get ready here before leaving.

So he's started leaving the house over an hour earlier than usual and not getting ready here?

Would you be suspicious?

@Shade17 anyone who spends upwards of £20k on a watch is a grade A arsehole but you do you 🙄.

i have to agree. Spending £20k on a watch does not prove you have £20k. It proves you used to have £20k

And especially if the woman is a neighbour in her 50s!

I know quite a few friends and acquaintances doing online dating (and ‘dating’) at the moment, they are in their 40s and 50s and the number of 20 something men trying to shag them is shocking! The men are all either too old or too young!

There was a recent thread with a woman in her 60s dating a man in his late 20s.

I have relative that makes a living dealing in high end watches. People buy them as investments. I don’t think they actually wear them.

abs12 · 05/10/2024 10:11

OP, how are you? Have you got any further?

Your responses to twats are next level... Entertaining amonst the crap of uncertainty. Hoping there is some random, crazy, innocent explanation. Good luck ❤️

sunrisemorning · 05/10/2024 10:13

There is a thread to discuss the watch for those more interested in that than the actual thread. We’ll be at 40 pages just debating a watch at this rate.

@sunrisemorning that thread was deleted, (if it’s the one with the heavily filtered photos) it was nonsense.

Didn’t the OP request for it to be deleted? Because she felt like shit self-esteem-wise and hoped the thread would help…which it never does. Another thread like that was also deleted at the OPs request.

ConnemaraMare · 05/10/2024 10:29

@sunrisemorning it was deleted with ‘MN are taking a look behind the scenes’, if we are talking about the same thread - What Age Do I Look, blonde lady pictures heavily filtered, in her 60s with an unpleasant sounding boyfriend 28.

kayla12345 · 05/10/2024 12:20

How's things OP?

ooopsinamechangedagain · 05/10/2024 15:37

Hope things are ok. Very insensitive for the thread to be taken over by people arguing over the value of a watch. And creating a whole new thread off the back of this one about the watch ffs. 🤨

I didn't realise my illustrative photo hadn't loaded - the shame!
Personally, l think that Patak's are worth every penny!

🤣 the watches are Patek Phillipe not patak but I do kind of enjoy the way this has become a thread about curry sauce.

Well to be honest we need op to come back. We are chatting while we wait for an instalment.

What is a causal thing?

Calliopespa · 05/10/2024 21:09

TheShellBeach · 05/10/2024 20:15

What is a causal thing?

A thing that causes something else to happen. So I guess in this instance something like wealthy people having money in the bank and it causes them to get more in interest?!

Come on op! Attend to your thread!

TheEveningSun · 05/10/2024 21:24

Shade17 · 04/10/2024 08:02

Why wouldn’t you though? It’s a fairly cheap watch. My daily watch is worth many times that and I’d chuck it on to do the school run, I don’t even get out of the car! It’s not in any way fancy or going to impress anyone so I don’t get why this guy would be trying to impress with his. If it were a nice Patek, maybe.

As a person who loves a good watch on my wrist I read the OPs comment as - he put the watch on to look more presentable than usual, as this is what I do and this is what my DP does when we get out of our post code😀, I also put a necklace and a ring on and get out of my tracksuit.
maybe this the most valuable piece of jewellery to the OPs partner? How insensitive of you! It’s clearly impressive to the OP.
Thank you for stating the obvious that there are more expensive watches on the market than £400. hey do you know there are watches that’s cost more than Patek? 🙄 I would never ever made a comment on someone’s point what they think is impressive in terms of value. I guess you you can’t buy class. You should spend your money on training in good manners before you start buying more expensive watches.

Pyaar · 05/10/2024 22:09

VERY weird that his plans changed when your friend was going to be following him. Maybe he has somehow got access to your messages (lets say he's guilty he might have wanted to see if you had anything you're hiding, to ease his guilt)

See if you can enlist friend via another method, unless you already communicated through phone calls only for example.

Good luck.. What a head fuck for you this is

Coruscations · 06/10/2024 00:07

Can you switch off his alarm, or change it to 8am? It could be interesting to watch the reaction, and also to see if anyone phones or texts him to ask where he is.

This is cunning.

The only risk op is I think he is currently aware you are suspicious so you may well get the blame - not undeservingly! I like the idea but think you’d have to leave it a bit before trying this.
