Are you glad you voted Labour ?

Sir Keir is firmly in his new seat and appears to be making waves... winter fuel, VAT on private school fees, UEFA watchdog type scenario, budgets... increase in CGT, 20% increase for Jr doctors, immigration learnings from Italy to pay other countries to take Immigrants and that's only what I briefly followed.
So my question is - are you still glad you voted Labour, or that they are in Power if you didn't? And what if you are not happy anymore - why ?
I'm on the fence so trying to be objective ;-)

Yes.

urbanbuddha · 16/09/2024 18:20

Yes.
The Tories were far, far worse.
They made the mess that Labour have to clean up.

FourEyesGood · 16/09/2024 18:21

I didn’t - I voted Green. But I’m glad Labour won. The Conservatives had their chance over and over again, and failed year after year.

StudioCreate · 16/09/2024 18:22

Yes

Are you glad you voted Labour ?
CoralReader · 16/09/2024 18:22

No

CoralReader · 16/09/2024 18:23

I have issues with their stance on Ukraine

Lengokengo · 16/09/2024 18:23

Yes. The Tories Brexit massively impacted my life for the worse.

TalbotAMan · 16/09/2024 18:23

Didn't vote Labour. I knew they would be bad; I didn't think they could be this bad.

Miley1967 · 16/09/2024 18:24

There really wasn't much choice of who to vote for was there ?
I think I'll wait until after the budget to see how I feel, if it's a real shocker then yes I'll probably regret voting for them.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 16/09/2024 18:24

Yes - good start, keep it up

Boomer55 · 16/09/2024 18:25

Well, they appeared the best of two bad choices. I’ve got no faith in any of them. 🤷‍♀️

TheDandyLion · 16/09/2024 18:25

Yup

PandoraSox · 16/09/2024 18:25

There are a few threads like this running at the moment.

Labour has done some things right and also made a couple of mistakes, but it is very early days yet. I don't regret voting Labour as doing so would mean I wished the Tories were back in😱😱😱

Perplexed20 · 16/09/2024 18:26

Yes.

But this is yet another thread.

dudsville · 16/09/2024 18:26

Yes, I voted for them and I'm glad they're in. The amount of work they have to do takes longer than a handful of days to turn around, and they aren't coming in with a blank slate. Imagine going to the hairdresser after having botched a diy hair cut and dye. They've got limitations on what they can do.

LaurieFairyCake · 16/09/2024 18:26

Yes, fantastic start - keep going

Given the amount people in the Uk buy from Amazon can we start taxing them properly please

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 16/09/2024 18:26

I didn't vote Labour (there's no point where I live), but I would still rather have Labour than the alternative.

YarsidokaLoafer · 16/09/2024 18:26

Yes.

SeanMean · 16/09/2024 18:26

Yes

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 16/09/2024 18:28

I didn't vote Labour but I find these threads very tiresome. It's way too soon to judge.

JHound · 16/09/2024 18:29

I did not vote Labour but loathed the previous Tory regime and glad they are out (even if, as a high earner - technically I should be supportive of them.)

SikhiTryer · 16/09/2024 18:30

Yes although I’d rather they were more radical and that they took a more Keynesian approach to borrowing rather than the current austerity-lite.

PandoraSox · 16/09/2024 18:30

Couple of questions from me to you @Noangelbuthavingfun

increase in CGT, 20%

Has this been announced?

immigration learnings from Italy to pay other countries to take Immigrants

Starmer has not said he is going to follow Italy's Albania idea. Meloni has said Starmer was “very interested” in the Italian plan. Which is a very different thing. But the press are of course twisting it.

BananaGrapeMelon · 16/09/2024 18:31

Yes
