Are you glad you voted Labour ?

Sir Keir is firmly in his new seat and appears to be making waves... winter fuel, VAT on private school fees, UEFA watchdog type scenario, budgets... increase in CGT, 20% increase for Jr doctors, immigration learnings from Italy to pay other countries to take Immigrants and that's only what I briefly followed.
So my question is - are you still glad you voted Labour, or that they are in Power if you didn't? And what if you are not happy anymore - why ?
I'm on the fence so trying to be objective ;-)

No inheritance tax on farmland? Come back on 31st October!

I will. It will never ever happen

Woollypullover · 16/09/2024 18:48

YES, definitely glad I voted Labour!

Very much agreed. As a disabled person, I was very much dreading them coming in- they make the Tories look nice.

What have they done to disabled people in the fourteen weeks they've been in power ? Have I missed something?

Catlover1705 · 16/09/2024 18:34

Yes but regretting it as they seem to hate old people, women and children.

In what way?

Hazey19 · 16/09/2024 18:48

It’s only been 5 minutes so we need to give them a chance, but yes I am definitely happy I voted Labour.

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 16/09/2024 18:48

No. There legacy is going to be yet more destruction and possibly a brain drain

AuntieObnoxious · 16/09/2024 18:52

Yes, changes are needed after years of inept government. Some of these changes will be unpopular to some but we have to look at the bigger picture. The NHS and public sector are on their knees and the repair of these services is going cost money.

Lovetotravel123 · 16/09/2024 18:52

I didn’t vote for them but I would love to know how, with all these measures, they plan to grow the economy.

babybythesea · 16/09/2024 18:52

I didn’t vote for them but I’m
pleased they are in.
The getting rid of one word OFSTED judgements is a good start. I’ve heard whispers that the curriculum is being looked at which I hope will be positive. If they could overhaul the racket that is the “accredited phones schemes” I’ll be thrilled.

FrogFreg · 16/09/2024 18:32

Yes, still happy I voted Labour and hope to see some more positive change by the end of the first 4 years.

@FrogFreg

first four years🤣.

By the time we've had 4 years of them (god help us), the vast majority will not vote them back in!

Slobberchops1 · 16/09/2024 18:53

Yep , things are looking better

Suzuki70 · 16/09/2024 18:54

Yes.

I'm also delighted that no matter how many whingy pro-Tory threads we have, we don't have to vote again for literally years so they're shouting into the abyss.

SallyWD · 16/09/2024 18:54

Yes

SinisterBumFacedCat · 16/09/2024 18:56

First time I didn’t vote Labour in my life. I’m happy with my decision. Punishing pensioners is a new low.

LL1991 · 16/09/2024 18:56

I think the question to ask is why they won’t release details of the 22b ‘black hole’. I reckon it’s because a large part of that will be the public sector pay rises they've done since in office.
I have little respect for them not taking accountability for the changes they’ve made and saying they’ve been forced to do so by the Tories. I’m glad I don’t have elderly relatives who can’t afford fuel this winter.
I’m afraid the pay rises will cause more sectors to strike now they’ve seen how easily the new govt will give in. I fear we’re cycling through the 70s & 80s again and that was a shambles last time.
I’m also amazed there only been one single article about the almost complete freeze of defence funding that has happened since they’ve entered office. At a time of great political unrest in the east - they are working hard to cover that up!

randomchap · 16/09/2024 18:56

So far they've not crashed the economy, nor have they partied during a national lock down, nor have they taken money from a racist

So they're definitely better than the Tories, and lets face it, we essentially have a two party system.

Dream2762 · 16/09/2024 18:58

Anyone who is happy with this Labour government is either a liar or so blinded by polarised party politics they can’t bring themselves to admit the truth.

They are a complete disaster and will destroy the country due to their warped ideology and financial illiteracy.

Slobberchops1 · 16/09/2024 18:53

genesis92 · 16/09/2024 18:58

You are many going to get many Labour voters admitting they regret it. They're as virtuous and tribal as they come

Fluffyhoglets · 16/09/2024 18:59

Yes I voted for them - yes I'm pleased so far and yes I'd vote for them again.
They are sorting things out and although the WFP issue needs some further work to make sure those pensioners just above the limit can cope - carrying on paying it to everyone had to stop.

Yes. Sick of these threads - Tory interns working overtime.

Noangelbuthavingfun · 16/09/2024 19:01

I do like the deep inspection the party seems to be making and hoping they come with a clear plan instead of empty promises but I think the black hole rethoric is tired now and an easy thing to say (for any party taking over )

Next thread please.

It feels like they will target the middle. Let’s see.
