Which scene(s) did you end up in?

I don’t want to out myself too much tbh as I’ve not NC and knowing the scene would identify myself to those who would know me in real life.

So to be a bit vague, I was in the first film and one of the earlier scenes of seeing parts of Hogwarts for the first time.

wejammin · 10/09/2024 22:56

This might be a stupid question, but if DD applied for, say, Hermione, would she have to reapply for every role that comes up in casting every time or do they keep it 'on file'?

What a great experience to have!

I'm only 615 months...

That make me laugh more than it should have 🤣😂

Yuckyyuckyuckity · 10/09/2024 22:59

My DD would make a perfect Hermione but unfortunately she's only 3 😂

MintTwirl · 10/09/2024 23:00

I think my youngest is going to apply, he will turn 9 at the end of March so will just be in the right age bracket.

DyslexicPoster · 10/09/2024 23:04

Oh exciting! My dd loves preforming. But she is a major pita too....... her inside voice is very shouty which might be a bonus

shadylane · 10/09/2024 23:04

I very much doubt they’d cast 3 white leads but if any of them are they won’t care what colour hair they have.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 10/09/2024 23:26

My DD would be a great fit for Moaning Myrtle 🤣

😂I think most of MN would be a great fit for her!

Justleaveitblankthen · 10/09/2024 23:31

I Remember when they auditioned hundreds of boys for the film version though. All over the worldwide news. Queues of excitable boys.. Then cast Daniel Radcliffe who was already an Actor with a film credit and parents in the business.
Just saying.. 😬

sunflowerdaisyrose · 10/09/2024 23:34

My children have an agent and all agents have been sent this brief it sounds like, and probably submitted all the children the right age! Self tape requests already coming through - not the same request as the open casting so a bit skeptical about the open call but worth a try!

Has your child has a tape request through yet? Mine has been subbed by her agent but no tape yet. I’ve also heard the open casting call is charging people $5 to sign up too. Not tried it myself because waiting to see if she gets a tape through agent but if it’s right I’m shocked at what a money making ploy that will be, especially if they are more likely to go through an agent in the end

Yeah same, which means they will probably cast a non-white Hermione like in the play, which JK supported.

I am really curious to see if they are going to insist on Harry having green eyes this time round, given how important that attribute is in the book! It was almost mentioned as much the Weasley’s being redheads.

ShowOfHands · 10/09/2024 21:09

DS has asked about casting almost daily since they announced the series.

Sadly, he's 13 now and has the wonkiest teeth (3yrs wait for braces here) and I'm sure they would reject on that basis alone.

I'm also several decades too old!

They should do the open casting call for the teachers! Reckon I could do a possible Hagrid before my morning coffee

Bunny44 · 11/09/2024 00:19

All these posters saying their kid doesn't have the right attributes I suspect that won't matter. They'll likely mix it up a bit like in the play 😊.

I wish I could apply 😂 I applied for Luna when they did the open casting calls for her in the movies years ago.

Ahh I remember that, some of the girls in my year at school went. I remember seeing the huge queue on Newsround!

Yes. Bit cynical maybe but I think this is really just advertising for the production. No guarantee that they're actually going to look at any of all the videos.

1 film credit should really matter it doesn’t say it’s a casting call only for those who have never acted before.
if I remember rightly Emma Watson was out forward by her school ?

Synchronisedwitches · 11/09/2024 01:30

My eldest is auditioning for Ron. I don't know if I want him to succeed or not tbh! I think anyone who gets these parts is going to face a lot of flack..
He's more strawberry blonde than ginger so perhaps he doesn't stand much chance there.
On the other hand he's very enthusiastic and I'd be so proud of him if he did get it. He's a very funny lad.

notanothernamechange24 · 11/09/2024 01:33

It will be very odd to watch when they do produce it. Some of the actors in the films were just so right.
Alan Rickman as Snape. Maggie Smith as McGonagall. Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid. They were just so right.

Synchronisedwitches · 11/09/2024 01:35

But yeah they did supposed open castings for the films back in the day.. but the parts all went to upper middle class kids already in drama groups. And Daniel Radcliffe was already a professional actor and his mum worked in casting so...

TickingAlongNicely · 11/09/2024 06:54

Logically its a publicity stunt.

And honestly, I wouldn't want my kids anywhere near it. The trolls (and I don't mean the magical creature), the politics etc... no thanks!

sunflowerdaisyrose · 11/09/2024 08:02

@Oor no, I haven't heard of anyone with their agent having a self tape yet but have from friends who are with Bonnie and Betty.

Cattyisbatty · 11/09/2024 08:10

Exciting for the young ones. My DCs were big fans at that age and in to drama so I def would’ve asked if they fancied trying out for it. Both did drama gcse and ds in particular was very good, sadly he wasn’t interested in pursuing anything to do with acting though.

SuziSuzles · 11/09/2024 19:15

My daughter spent time preparing her audition videos and I submitted them on Cast It website but then it said after a 1 month free trial there would be a charge to continue so was it just a scam to get people to sign up to agencies?
