Hermione girl has been in Matilda stage show I think so hopefully. No idea about the other two.

raspberriez · 27/05/2025 17:17

They look perfect for the roles, yes fingers crossed they can act better than the previous trio!

That’s exactly what I said!

Cavalierchaos · 27/05/2025 17:59

They're ok. Being picky, I always imagined Harry and Ron with thinner/slimmer faces. And Hermione is way too pretty, again!

Ugly females are never casted for any role. Even if a role is supposed to be an ugly girl/woman then they're played by a perfecly average looking one. Likewise anyone supposed to be playing an average looking character is played by a pretty one.

They look older than the original trio were pre filming the first film to me.

TickingAlongNicely · 27/05/2025 18:05

Harry is supposed to look malnourished but it would be highly unethical to starve a child actor...

Dramatic · 27/05/2025 18:25

Harry looks more how I imagined him than Daniel Radcliffe. Hopefully they're good

True, but they could have picked someone plainer. If you Google her, she's got a few agency pics and she's a very very pretty girl!

Also yes, they look much older than the previous three. Wasn't Emma Watson 9 when announced?

Tror · 27/05/2025 18:40

I always thought the HP stories would work better as TV series.
Excited to check it out!

I actually hope that they do do the same as The Crown and House of the Dragon and replace the actors every couple of seasons. It must take the pressure off a bit. On the actors as people and on the schedule.

TickingAlongNicely · 27/05/2025 18:53

I'm not surprised that an "open" call has resulted in experienced actors.

I hope the families get help with dealing with social media trolls!

I don’t really think they are particularly “ experienced “

Arabella has previously starred in the West End production of Matilda, as well as the Andrew Lloyd Webber production of Starlight Express. Meanwhile, Alastair has appeared in TV advertisements, and Dominic is set to be seen in Sky Original comedy Grow. So they aren't totally new to the business. So I'd agree they had experience.

KarmenPQZ · 27/05/2025 19:08

Wow super excited. They look a thousand percent awesome. If I was to pick at them (as one must!) my only complaint would be that they, and all the adult parts so far announced, feel very very safe.

I wasmeaning experienced in a relative sense.

And its not a bad thing. I know the girls chosen for Matilda are quite talented and dedicated for example.

Alwaystheway2012 · 27/05/2025 19:10

well they need to act in a very high level role so of course even for an open call people would hopefully have some experience but I would not say they were “ very experienced “ and this will be all 3 of their break through roles nothing stands out that they are established well known actors.

LetItGoHome · 27/05/2025 19:37

I agree it's no bad thing that they have experience. They have big shoes to fill. I'm sure they will be fab. But it probably didn't need an open casting call. All of the 3 would have belonged to an agency. I wonder if any kids with no experience or agency backing got a recall.

I really hope they wipe the floor with their superior acting, as I feel the previous three need to see others doing a better job than they ever did. They need taking down a peg or two.

Even the Snape casting? This has caused controversy because of Snape’s backstory.

I don’t mean to be nasty here (and I personally never use the word ugly for appearance, only for what’s inside) but Bella Ramsey got heavily criticised for being too plain in The Last of Us.

BunnyLake · 29/05/2025 10:02

Errors · 29/05/2025 09:57

Why has it caused controversy?

Because of some background stories of lynch type bullying in his school days. I haven’t read it in detail but people are saying previous white on white bullying is now white on black, which could come across badly.

TickingAlongNicely · 29/05/2025 10:02

Errors · 29/05/2025 09:57

Why has it caused controversy?

Because James and Sirius bullied Snape and apparently having a black character being bullied will look racist.
