My DD would be a great fit for Moaning Myrtle 🤣

ouch321 · 10/09/2024 22:13

Can't wait to watch this new take on it. It'll be much meatier than the films as each will have, I assume, 8 - give or take - episodes rather than trying to cram a book into 120 mins.

Anyone who gets a major part in this, they'll be made for life.

LeonoraFlorence · 10/09/2024 22:31

One of my daughters wants to try for Hermione. She’s 9 so age wise she’s perfect but she’s blonde…🤷🏻‍♀️

Oor · 10/09/2024 22:34

It won’t matter what colour her hair is.

TickingAlongNicely · 10/09/2024 22:35

Two weeks too old for DD. She is very Hermione in nature.

LikeWeUsedToBe · 10/09/2024 22:43

My dd is definitely going to want to apply. She's such a little Hermione. Not really the future I'd want for her though and I'm such a HP geek it would be weird if she were in it. But will be fun doing the videos so we will have a bash.

Firsttimetrier · 10/09/2024 22:43

I was an extra for one of the earlier Harry Potters when I was roughly 9. It was a long and boring week tbh, but was well paid which my mum put aside for my 18th birthday.

Nice story to have and a useful thing for those awkward team bonding days!

Definitely don't worry about the hair colour. I reckon my daughter will try for Ginny and she's dark blonde. Lots of the original cast had to dye their hair including the Weasley twins and Tom Felton (Draco)

I thought she would have to vaguely resemble her? Or am I being silly? 😂

How cool! Did you live close to the studios?

Ah, ok! Thank you. I didn’t think it through.😳

Newsenmum · 10/09/2024 22:46

I’m having major flashbacks of the Luna, Cho and lavender castings. I swear that was only yesterday 😭

They said they are committed to diverse casting so they won't even necessarily be white, never mind 'right' hair colour

Same, my DD12 would make an awesome Hermione 🤣

My DD would but she won't be 9 until later on in 2025 😭 Could I lie about her age? 🤣

I lived in one of the towns which they filmed in and they came to our school to cast some additional extras.

It was a very long week of sitting in a marquee watching repeats of The Simpsons and then about 2 hours of actual filming towards the end of the week.

Thought it would be more glamorous but still a great experience.

BlossomToLeaves · 10/09/2024 22:48

I wonder if the children have to commit to 7 years worth of filming? It would make it much better if they had the same cast for all the series.

It will be quite a job for them to watch all the millions of videos uploaded - though I supopse they might have some very quick filter that they can use

conniefromaccounts · 10/09/2024 22:48

My DS turns 12 in January so is 3 months too old. Typical 🤣

I'm guessing they will ask for birth certificates if they get to a certain stage. But maybe she will be so amazing that they won't care?? I suspect they will be v strict tho

I was thinking what a massive job they’ll have to go through so many videos!

wejammin · 10/09/2024 22:51

My DD is 10, obsessed with Harry Potter and wants to be an actress so she'll definitely want to try. She's also a natural red head, and very small for her age, so I could see her as a Ginny. I think even just being an extra would make her so happy.

I read they are planning the filming over 10 years!

I wouldn’t have thought so! They must have a high tech way of doing it. 🤔

Got such a nostalgic feeling when I saw that! 😄 I remember queuing up for the books in my local shopping centre when it all started, and going to see the movies in cinema.

Me too. Harry potter and the philosopher's stone was the first film that dh and I saw at the cinema together. I remember going to Woolworths for Haribo and panda pops beforehand!

Ds3 loves acting but at 13 he is too old unfortunately. Hoping that they will do another open casting call for other parts later and he could be an extra from the 3rd year.
