Plenty of comments underneath about small man syndrome.

To think this FB meme is mean and spiteful?

People are awful to short men. It's disgusting.

Women don't get relentlessly mocked for being short in my experience but do get infantalised. Short men get a much harder time of it.

HelpMebeok · 23/08/2024 10:49

its mean.

Women do get relentlessly mocked for many other things though .

Idontjetwashthefucker · 23/08/2024 10:50

I laughed

TomeTome · 23/08/2024 10:51

It’s just stupid.

Nothing to be proud of.

Yes it's quite mean. Many short men are very conscious of their lack of height -and this is right up there with mocking their baldness, or their small penis. Mean and cruel.

.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 23/08/2024 10:50

I laughed

Really? It's not funny in the slightest. It's like saying who'd want a blonde, a brunette, a tall guy...

Starlingexpress · 23/08/2024 10:52

You must be new to the internet? It’s a cesspit.

stayathomer · 23/08/2024 10:52

Yeah, horrible!

5128gap · 23/08/2024 10:53

Of course it's mean and spiteful. That's likely to be a pretty unanimous opinion I'd have thought. So what are you inviting us to discuss OP? Because I'm not sure I'd have put something mean and spiteful into greater circulation just so we could all agree it's not very nice?

sunnymountains · 23/08/2024 10:53

I think with the way men treat and talk about woman it's fair play tbh.

TheClawDecides · 23/08/2024 10:53

Strange question OP.

You know it's mean and yet here you are, spreading it further on the internet 😳

KimberleyClark · 23/08/2024 10:54

I just wondered whether I was alone in my opinion, that’s all.

X posted but yes, spot on.

There are billions of very obviously unkind memes out there.

Pointless question.

Didn't you ever get taught that two wrongs don't make a right?

Really? You think most of us here enjoy internet mocking?

KimberleyClark · 23/08/2024 10:57

Some of the responses are strangely defensive.

FuckThePoPo · 23/08/2024 11:00

Well I laughed.

because I find that funny does not mean I would share it, comment on it or 'like' it

i am an adult who can keep my opinions which may be offensive to others to myself!

This.

Also, who pays attention to FB memes anymore? They’re complete gash.

Beth216 · 23/08/2024 11:03

I prefer shorter men to tall men, I'm 5'5 and like someone around my height.

ShowOfHands · 23/08/2024 11:03

I've been rather surprised by the objectification of men throughout the Olympics, particularly a couple of the swimmers and the relentless pole vaulting footage. I have always acknowledged a key difference in the objectification of men ie the power differential, but having never felt comfortable with it, I've been pretty appalled by the focus on the genitals of the sportsmen. Apparently, we just don't respect anybody and dignity doesn't matter to the Internet.

I wonder if I'm getting older and more bosom-hoicky or if it's saturation point or it's getting worse.

Vintago · 23/08/2024 11:04

I think deliberate mocking is unkind in any form. There was a thread recently on MN about a poster wanting insults for her new boyfriend. Mummy's Boy was a popular suggestion. She had never met his mother. Misogyny is alive and well on MN.

itsgoingtobeabumpyride · 23/08/2024 11:05

Yeah, it's not particularly funny.
I worked with a short chap who told me that when he left school in the 80's he wanted to go in the forces, too short, then tried the police, too short.
He then applied for the rail industry and his height was mentioned and he said he cried, thought his life was over because of his height, he said he couldn't even get a job stacking shelves, too short.
He got a job in the rail industry which is when I met him.
So yeah, it's not funny

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 23/08/2024 11:05

Can you not think for yourself, OP? This isn't something that needs a consensus. All you have done, as PP has said, is pass it on. You're spreading something that you think is mean and spiteful.

Does that make sense to you? It really doesn't to me.

Screenshotted · 23/08/2024 11:06

I would never mock somebody for a characteristic they are born with. I don’t find it remotely amusing. And I am a person who enjoys good humour.
