I can't put my finger on it but I always feel depressed in August. June on the other hand is the perfect month.Grin

I like August! I don't like January or November though, too cold!

drang246 · 17/08/2024 19:15

The nights are drawing in for sure, the garden is past its best, and the start of another school year is hurtling towards us.

TinaYouFatLard · 17/08/2024 19:17

I agree.

I adore the long summer holiday and it’s about now I start to feel a very heavy sadness hanging over me.

Suzuki70 · 17/08/2024 19:18

I hate it. Kids (here in England) are getting fed up, the daddy long legs and wasps are out, everywhere is busy down here in the SW and two thirds of the office are on holiday.

Marine30 · 17/08/2024 19:19

Yes, I feel the same. By now summer just feels a bit done, someone is always away so you can never get everyone together and somehow it just falls a bit flat!
Although I’m not sure about September either as I don’t like it when the kids go back to school 😥. For me Spring is by far the best.

SauviGone · 17/08/2024 19:20

I normally like August.

However it’s cold today, getting dark already, I have a glass of red wine and there’s a Harry Potter movie on TV.

So it feels like autumn already, and I’m mildly depressed that there has been no real summer.

MySocksAreDotty · 17/08/2024 19:21

I have to go back to work 😨 definitely got mid-August blues.

Arrivapercy · 17/08/2024 19:22

I like august. I like the coming of autumn, my kids are happy in school & we all like looking forward to bonfire night and Christmas

Summertimer · 17/08/2024 19:23

June weather is always a bit uncertain. July is only 1/2 school hols. August - except in those weird years where school goes back v early - is all hols. I love September, even when DS was at crappy, moany school we moved him from, September was too early for moaning to start.

Toomanysquishmallows · 17/08/2024 19:23

Like others , I get a strange , sad feeling at this time of year , I think it’s the “ back to school “ feeling , even though I’m 51 .

Existingbudhet · 17/08/2024 19:23

There are no wasps, hadn't you noticed? This is not good

HighlandCow78 · 17/08/2024 19:24

I agree. Always feels so melancholy - the end of summer, nights drawing in, kids going back to school etc. It gives me a ‘Sunday night’ sort of feeling - anxiety almost?

Suzuki70 · 17/08/2024 19:24

I love autumn/September and always liked going back to school, so this last 2 weeks is always draggy. I'd rather have an extra week of October Half Term.

cadburyegg · 17/08/2024 19:26

I love it! Best month of the year

Toomanysquishmallows · 17/08/2024 19:26

@HighlandCow78 , Sunday night feeling is a perfect description.

Gone12 · 17/08/2024 19:28

I feel sad that the nights are rapidly drawing in and that autumn is nearly here, in fact there's a definite touch of it in the air already and leaves starting to change colour.

This summer has been and gone too quickly.

rewilded · 17/08/2024 19:28

If it was a time in the day, it would be dusk.

This summer never happened!

lissie123 · 17/08/2024 19:31

We definitely have wasps and bees here in the south west. Had three wasps to chase out of the house this morning. It’s feeling autumnal in our garden now. Feeling we have been short changed with the summer though.

GoodVibesHere · 17/08/2024 19:31

I absolutely love it. As a child I loved the back to school feeling, and I still love it now. The slight chill in the air, the fading sunlight and the browning leaves. It's perfect!

DistressedDamson · 17/08/2024 19:31

Funny you should say about this OP, This is the first year where I’ve really noticed this. As a PP said, there’s a definite touch of autumn in the air and the light has changed. Mention of the Sunday evening feeling is right as well!

Oh wow, there really aren’t! 😮

AdviceNeeded2024 · 17/08/2024 19:32

YABU for describing June as the perfect month, I hate it 😂😂

I know what you mean I always feel a bit in limbo second half of August, it’s muggy and my garden looks a bit limp.

I like Autumn and Spring. Love October.

I like dusk 😀

June is my birthday time of year but actually can’t stand all that light at nighttime. Much prefer autumn
