Hello
Having a big event this year. Not a wedding or birthday but a big celebration. 50 guests. I want to do each guest a party bag to take away. So far I have got the following ideas but I think it's a bit boring
Pic and mix in the colour scheme of the party
A mini homemade cake (my friend is a Baker so is doing these)
A small ornament connected to the event (think mini logo figure type thing)

I'm doing an individual card for each guest

What else can I put in?
I want it to be nice so can spend some money but not a huge amount
Any ideas?

I’d never just throw something like that away, give it to someone else.

Tiny little notebook
Pen
Pencil
Rubber
Mini stamp
Mini stapler
Soap
Mini hand cream
Face pack or other home spa product
Candle
Little can of fevertree tonic or small gin for the ones who drink
Little hand mirror
Little torch
Mini screwdrivers
Little photoframe with a photo of an event you have all previously attended (if such an event exists)
Little plushy
Tiny roll of love hearts
Pin badge with a motivational message
Fridge magnet with same.

I would love all or any of this by the way!
Enjoy your event!

Not a kids magician 🙄

I meant the type you get at weddings who do card tricks etc. They’re always a big hit.

@DaisyChain505

theyre not. I hate that kind of shite.

Seeds, teabags, make dried flower bookmark, candle, lavender bag, Polaroid
Def no plastic or cheap flipflops to end up in landfill . Paracetamol idea is gross.🤢

Not gross at all. Pretty common and in lots of things people have linked on here .
Like the seeds idea definitely

You’re never too old for bubbles 😃
I’d love a bath bomb
booze miniature
Lip balm
Glowsticks / glow balloon
comedy props

I like the idea! And if people open them at event it gives an extra thing for conversation/larking about 😃

80smonster · 02/08/2024 18:50

Things I like in adult gift bags:
white company socks
mini diptyque travel candles
luxury face sheet masks
framed mini photo (or polaroid) of us
smythson or mount street paper co. stationery
Things I hate:
throwaway nicknacks
baking anything
cake/biscuits/crisps - what’s the point?
commemorative tea towels, key rings etc.

Put in some anti acid tablets as well for the implied excessive eating then too. Lovely & will also end up in the bin🤔

I'll cross you off the guest list

I wouldn’t put novelty accessories/props in a party bag, as some people have suggested. Most of them will get abandoned or binned at home. If you want funny photos, have a basket with a small selection of props. Ask everyone to take a photo and upload it to WhatsApp with a message. Or go old school with a guestbook and Polaroid camera.

Flowerpower70 · 02/08/2024 19:41

I think the bags are a brilliant idea! I'd love a party bag! Shows that the host is thoughtful and really cares. A nice card, some seeds, keyring and pick n mix sounds great, how about mini haribo bags and mini drumstick squashies bags, lindt balls are nice. A face mask or lip balm? Have a lovely party. A lovely thoughtful idea.

FollowingForTheCraic · 02/08/2024 19:42

A sheet mask!

Londonrach1 · 02/08/2024 19:42

Pen, notebook, bubbles, ditch the ornament...it just be thrown

bananamum13 · 02/08/2024 19:49

Gin miniature

distinctpossibility · 02/08/2024 19:51

Some good ideas already mentioned here.

If it's an event marking an anniversary etc then a coin minted in that year? Similarly if it connects to a foreign country, Mrs Tiggywinkle, Harry Potter etc. A themed 50p or a Swiss Franc or whatever.

A (nice!) car air freshener

A personalised Christmas decoration (mid-Nov onwards!) Or advent candle.

A glass bottle cookie mix thing that you just add water to make?

A bag of posh crisps.

A jar of local (to the venue) honey / jam

I think you should keep the ornament idea if it's an in joke, definitely 😉

scrivette · 02/08/2024 19:53

I went to a party (not as many people) and we had one of the coloured paper bags with socks, a candle, lip salve/balm, nail varnish, cotton wool pads and some chocolates in. I was delighted and I think your ideas sound great.

I think the mini love heart idea sounds good too.

Event type is a life affirming one rather than a birthday or anniversary
Median age of guests is mid 40s

Op, hi there, what is a life affirming themed party please.

Flowerpower70 · 02/08/2024 20:00

An in joke ornament sounds fun, definitely keep in the bag.

Bbq1 · 02/08/2024 20:01

crochetmonkey74 · 02/08/2024 12:54

Please don't fill the thread with whether you agree or not. The bag is happening.
The ornament is definitely happening and will definitely be well received. All the guests are very close and known to me so I do know it will go well.

I don't understand why you're getting so much grief, Op. Both bag, planned contents and ornament sound great. To pp's filling the thread repeatedly with comments like that, "don't get the ornament" etc... that's not what Op asked d and she has already explained that it is an in joke with the guests.

savingmysanity · 02/08/2024 20:04

We went to a wedding where they had alcoholic lollipops with the name of bride and groom on it, they were great!

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 02/08/2024 20:08

@TheTripThatWasnt

Except that you're not CLEARLY explaining it! You're just being vague and letting everyone jump to their own conclusions about what it is, and therefore basing their judgement about it on that! If you CLEARLY explained it, everyone would know what it was!

FFS give over !! The OP is planning a party to celebrate something important in her life, to which she has invited 50 friends . They are all linked by something with a symbol - of which she is giving them a little memento .

She doesn't need to tell you any more than this - and - it's irrelevant really isn't it ? The reason for the party doesn't really affect any suggestions of what to put in the party bag.

There are some proper nosy people on here!

DurtBurd · 02/08/2024 20:55

Could you make the ornament a Christmas tree decoration? I love taking out mine each year and the story that goes with them (I buy one each holiday I go on) and I'd enjoy it more than something that I kind of blank over if it's out all the time.

For an extra, how about a small photo frame and set up a Google photo album. Everyone can upload their photos and can print one / more they like. It's better resolution/quality for printing than sharing via WhatsApp.

FloordrobeIsGoingToGetME · 02/08/2024 21:11

I love the idea from a PP of having a canvas mini tote for the actual bag. I would reuse that a lot,

I also love sleep masks and sleep mist.

I love sleep - can you tell?!!

WingingIt101 · 02/08/2024 22:03

I don't know if it is allowed on here to suggest specific small vendors, but ones I have used that have been excellent quality are:
@emilys_lollies on instagram - bespoke personalised lollies

@joco_candles on instagram - handmade candles using pressed flowers and she can work with you on the meanings and engrave the lids for an extra charge.

With the talk of life affirming / sentimental etc perhaps a gratitude journal for each person and a nice pen?
